Privacy notice

AutoStatsIQ is a vehicle safety data site. It has no accounts, no sign-up forms and no advertising. This notice explains the one thing the site does collect, anonymous usage statistics, and the two things your browser keeps or fetches for the site to work: your filter choices and map tiles.

Analytics

The site measures traffic with Matomo, an open-source analytics package hosted by us at analytics.sigmon.net. No analytics data is sent to Google or to any other third party. Matomo records the pages you view, the time of the visit, the referring site, your browser and device type, your approximate region, and a shortened form of your IP address. It sets a first-party cookie so that repeat visits can be counted as one visitor.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, Matomo honors it and records nothing. You can also block the analytics.sigmon.net host with any content blocker; the site works the same without it.

Your filters

When you choose filters in the bar at the top of a page (a manufacturer, make, model, model years, vehicle type, component or years), the site stores them in a first-party cookie named asiq_f for 30 days, so the next page you open shows the same view. The cookie holds only those choices, is not used for analytics and is not shared. Clear all in the filter bar deletes it.

Map tiles

The complaint map draws its street map from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org), a free map service built on OpenStreetMap. When you view a map (on the home page and the map page), your browser requests map tiles from that service, which therefore sees your IP address and the area you view, as any web server would. OpenFreeMap sets no cookies. The city points on the map come from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0) and the U.S. Census Bureau gazetteers, served by this site.

Server logs

Like every web server, ours keeps standard access logs (requested page, time, IP address, browser) for security and troubleshooting. They are rotated automatically and are not combined with any other data.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or share visitor data.
  • We do not run advertising or advertising trackers.
  • We do not fingerprint devices or follow visitors across other sites.

Vehicle data

The statistics on this site are built from public records published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Owner complaints in those records are published by NHTSA with personal details already removed; we show them as NHTSA publishes them. AutoStatsIQ is independent and is not affiliated with NHTSA or any vehicle manufacturer.

Changes

If the site starts collecting anything new, for example an email address for alerts, this page will say so before it happens.
