When I stop at traffic lights, my car does not immediately turn back on (it has the auto stop feature). It flashes "parking brake released" on the dashboard. Then, it starts back up. Sometimes, it has not started back up right away & the steering wheel seizes. It has also said, "Assisted Steering Reduced" & "Stabilitrack Not Engaged (or something to that effect)." When the issue started, I tried to start my car & it said to put the car in park but it was already in park. I tried repeatedly to put it drive to put it back in park & it did not register that I was shifting gears. I turned my car off & turned it back on & it shook violently. So I shut it off immediately. The safety hazard is that my car has shut off on me while I was driving, wheels turning, car in drive, going down the street! It came right back on thankfully, but the way it shut off, I would not have time to brake & let driver's behind me know there was an issue, if it had not come back on! Also, if I have to full stop somewhere in the middle of traffic or an unsafe space, and the auto stop does not restart, that is another safety hazard. The problem started December 2025. I stopped at a light & my car would not restart. I was told it was the starter. I had the starter replaced & the issue returned July 4th weekend. Now, I try to brake in a way to prevent the auto stop from engaging as much possible. I shouldn't have to do that!! Please notify General Motors to recall & fix whatever this issue is with the Buick Envision to keep our families & roads safer!! Thank you!
NHTSA complaint 11752143The contact owns a 2017 Buick Envision. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35-40 MPH, the brakes became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to use the terrain-driving system to continue driving. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the brake hose to the brake master cylinder had failed, and the brake fluid was extremely low. The vehicle was partially repaired. The front hoses were replaced, and the mechanic informed the contact that the rear hoses needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 71,069.
NHTSA complaint 11734580Driver side front rubber brake line blew out causing all fluid to leak out while my wife was driving it 2/14/2026
NHTSA complaint 117183232017 Buick envision failed an annual smog check with OBD trouble codes: P0700; P2535; and U0100. P0700 is related to a transmission issue.
NHTSA complaint 11714262The liftgate has randomly started closing on me while I'm loading groceries at least 3 times in the past year. Every time it has hit me in the forehead with enough force to cause intense pain for several days. Otherwise, it works normally so there is no way I know to intentionally reproduce the issue. It has not been inspected because, again, it has happened like 3 times in the past year. Very painful, but doesn't seem likely to be something obvious.
NHTSA complaint 11712844During multiple drives the vehicle completely shuts off when driving or at lower speeds. When this occurs (4 times over the last 3 months) the vehicle has no power or ability to restart creating a major safety issue. You cannot turn on the hazards or anything in the vehicle. The vehicle is still in drive (because you were driving when it occurred) and so you're unable to shift back into park to restart. After some time you are able to restart the vehicle and continue driving.
NHTSA complaint 11693761The contact's friend owns a 2017 Buick Envision. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH, the engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the failure was due to the sensor for the catalytic converter. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 179,000.
NHTSA complaint 11689163Check engine light is on Turbo is failing, underboost code. Very unsafe on roadway due to unpredictable loss of power. The issue has been diagnosed through my local service center. I have not taken it to a dealership yet but will be next week. The issue occurred three weeks ago I believe

The contact forcefully depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle, the message "Service Brake Assist" was displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the brake vacuum pump and the exhaust camshaft had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000. The VIN was not available.
NHTSA complaint 11662442New tires placed. Oil change next day noted oil leak on differential due to gasket. Mechanic tried to obtain gasket but system told him because my VIN was below a certain number I would need a new differential. Additionally, gasket could not be obtained. Buick knew a problem existed and changed manufacturing, hence, VIN above that certain number has no problems. What all of us below that VIN number?
NHTSA complaint 11657417When traveling crossing over a bridge onto a highway, my tire started to shake uncontrollably. I went to a tire shop and they found nothing. Upon traveling recently it happened again while on the highway. This issues has affected my tire pressure sensors. I was informed that this is called shudder bucking and only happens when driving at a high speed. Upon research, I was able to find out that this is a known issue for my vehicle model made between the years of 2016 and 2020. This a complete safety hazard and concern and should not come at the expense of the vehicle owner.
NHTSA complaint 11655997The contact owns a 2017 Buick Envision. The contact stated that after the vehicle had reached 10,000 miles driven, the transmission failed to immediately shift into drive(D) or 2nd gear while accelerating from being stationary. The check engine, speed sensor, pressure sensor, and solenoid warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the speed sensor, pressure sensor, and solenoid sensors had failed, and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000.
NHTSA complaint 11643307I used the remote start on my key fob to warm up the vehicle before work. About 10 minutes later, I went to my vehicle to leave, I noticed the car was on fire. I opened the door and saw that the driver seat was on fire. I ran inside the house to get cups of water to put the fire out. Looks like the seat warmer on the driver side failed and ignited the leather seat. My life was at risk since a fire ensued. I was put in danger by having to put the fire out myself before it caused further damage. Also breathing in the fumes of the leather was a potential danger. The problem has not been reproduced. The car is currently at the dealership to be further inspected. No warning signs came up before the fire. No police reports were filed

NHTSA complaint 11618980October 2023 my brake on the drivers side ruptured that let to the master cylinder. Lost brake pressure and all brake fluid resulting in no braking ability at all. May 9th 2024 took my vehicle for scheduled maintenance and was told vehicle was in excellent condition. 20 days later the brake line on the passenger side ruptured leading to the master cylinder resulting brake fluid leakage and no brake performance. This issue is a previous recall and should be reinstated. I've spent twelve hundred dollars on repairs for an issue that publicized as an open recall. I could have lost my life and Buick GMC refuse to do anything about it.
NHTSA complaint 11594293When I am accelerating at a faster pace, always at 40 mph, my vehicle will start to shake. I have tested it several times now getting onto the interstate, it becomes an issue on the "on ramp" because I have to release the acceleration pedal and then very slowly get up to speed which causes me to not be able to get close enough to the posted speed while on the interstate which in turn causes other drivers to either slow down or try to move in another lane. I took it to my local Buick dealership (Trecek Automotive of Portage) on 4/29/24. They charged me $172.68 for diagnostics which resulted in this: Test drove. Did not feel shaking at first. The harder the vehicle was accelerated, the worse the shaking got. Recommend replacing front CV axle shafts. Cost approx. $1300. At the same time, I had a leak in the left rear axle seal which luckily was under warranty and was replaced. My 2017 Buick Envision has only 56,000 miles on it.
NHTSA complaint 11592175The vacuum pump failed, causing the gear to explode, which in turn damaged the cam shaft. Yes, this is available for inspection. The brake was unable to be depressed, requiring extreme force to being able to safely stop at an area that was safe to do so. I turned the car off and it made a funny sound. When I tried to start the car, it would no longer start. The car was towed to my local auto mechanic and then to the closest Buick dealership. The dealership diagnosed the problem outlined above. No warning lights.
NHTSA complaint 11574510I was returning home from shopping. As I approached a stop sign, I applied the brakes and the brake pedal went completely to the floor: Fortunately, I was able to stop before entering the intersection. I had the vehicle towed to a nearby Buick dealer to determine the cause of the brake failure. I was told the left front brake line had a hole in it causing total loss of brake fluid - cause unknown. There were no warning lamps or other symptoms of the problem prior to the brake failure. The brake line was replaced by the dealer at significant cost to me.
NHTSA complaint 11550644The contact owns a 2017 Buick Envision. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the infotainment system failed intermittently. As a result of the failure, the contact was unable to access important safety features such as the rear camera, side view camera, and Lane Keep Assist. The EPS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the infotainment system. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who confirmed the diagnosis. The vehicle was repaired and taken back to the dealer, who was unable to program the new infotainment unit. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
NHTSA complaint 11539931Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall; the 60 most recent are listed.
