I purchased car on July 8. September 3, I delivered the vehicle to the dealership because of a significant fuel-system failure. Still awaiting fix. The failure involved fuel-system components, including the fuel tube/multiple O-ring assembly, and resulted in a significant gasoline spill on my garage floor (an O-ring was also found inside the fuel tank). The dealership’s service department photographed the failed fuel-system components, and I have been informed the components were subsequently shipped back to GM engineers (inclusive of the tank) for examination and analysis so GM could determine how the failure occurred and how the vehicle should be repaired. I have adked for written clarification regarding the repair and GM’s investigation, including: The exact fuel-system components that failed, including the specific fuel tube and O-rings involved. GM’s determination, if available, regarding why those components failed. Whether GM is aware of similar failures involving these components. Whether there are any applicable Technical Service Bulletins, engineering investigations, or other GM documentation relating to this failure. What GM engineering determined from its examination of the failed components, to the extent that information is available to the customer. What specific procedures have been performed to ensure the fuel system is completely leak-free and safe. Whether the entire fuel system was inspected for additional damage or compromised components. The total number of days the vehicle is documented as being out of service for this repair.
