NHTSA complaint 11716228I am filing a complaint against Ford Motor Company regarding a known defect in my 2021 Ford F-600 truck that resulted in a catastrophic fuel system failure. The truck has only 110,000 miles and has been maintained appropriately. It is registered in the State of Illinois and is used for my woman-owned small business. A few weeks ago, the vehicle began running roughly. When the dealer inspected it, they reported that the entire fuel system was contaminated with metal and required complete replacement at a cost of $14,500. I later discovered that Ford has a documented history of CP4 fuel pump failures on 2020–2022 Super Duty trucks, including the F-600, which cause metal contamination throughout the fuel system. Many owners have received goodwill or warranty assistance for this exact issue. I opened a case with Ford Customer Care (Case #[XXX]) and provided all documentation. Despite the clear evidence of a known defect and the severe financial hardship this caused, Ford refused to provide any assistance at all—not even covering the parts cost. I was forced to put the $14,500 repair on a credit card at 21% interest simply to keep my business functioning. This situation is financially devastating for a small, woman-owned Illinois business, and Ford’s refusal to offer goodwill assistance for a known defect is unfair and unreasonable. I am requesting help obtaining reimbursement or appropriate relief from Ford Motor Company. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
