On May 27,2026, While flat towing the Maverick in Tow Neutral behind our motorhome, on the freeway, we were flagged down by a good Samaritan who urged us to exit the freeway immediately. My husband exited the freeway and found a safe place to park. I exited the motorhome to find fire emanating from all four wheels. The calipers were orange/red in color, fire was shooting from each wheel. The engine was so hot I suspected it would blow. I retrieved a fire extinguisher from the motorhome and deployed it extinguishing each wheel stopping the fire. An inspection by top level engineers and specialist inspected the vehicle to determine the root cause of the fire to no avail, results Inconclusive. at this point the insurance company wants to repair the car and put us back on the road. We are of the belief that this vehicle is unsafe and a possibly death trap.

NHTSA complaint 11766596Brand new 2026 Ford Maverick with only 6,000 miles on it. Rear ended by another driver going 15mph and it caused $26,000 is damages to the Maverick which totaled it. This is a well known common issue in online forms that the uni body design this vehicle has is an issue. Vehicle should not be totaled from a 15mph rear impact. I can get you a copy of the repair estimate but do not have it at this time.
NHTSA complaint 11763282The contact owns a 2026 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start as intended. The contact stated that the failure had occurred because of the manufacturer's capability to access the computer system without the owner’s knowledge. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The contact was informed that the manufacturer access switch was deactivated; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 520.
NHTSA complaint 117631018/3/26 at 0003 I received a message from the ford app that remote features were disabled to preserve battery. My truck would not turn on when I tried to start it, it was completely dead so then I got it jumped. At 1302 I received an error message for powertrain malfunction/ reduced power there was also a warning lamp for service on the dash. I brought the truck in today for service and waiting to hear back. The truck has roughly 3500 miles and I bought it new in april 2026, I drive daily and drove it the night before and did not have any issues. I did some research online and saw information for class action law suits for previous years on the maverick as well as people with similar issues. Inspection upon request would be available. My safety could have been put at risk if the battery died on the roadway causing a safety issue to myself or other motorists.
NHTSA complaint 11754486I was driving down the highway with no cars around and the middle of the moonroof shattered suddenly and violently from the inside outward.
NHTSA complaint 11750417I was in stop and go traffic on the highway when my brakes failed. I tried them twice, the car did not slow down, I put the car into park and tried to engage the parking brake and the car continued to roll until I hit the 18 wheeler in front of me. This happened a second time before I could get myself off the freeway and to a safe place to call a tow truck.
NHTSA complaint 11748843Windshield cracks easily. It cracked in a way that might impair vision. I have had large rocks hit my windshields in the past and and it usually ends up as just a round spot. I just bought this truck and a small Rock hit the lower driver side and it immediately cracked across my field of view about a foot across. This windshield is too thin or not properly laminated.
NHTSA complaint 11741900Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall.
