Loud Knocking from engine, CEL illuminated flashing, loss in power and had an active misfire in cyl #2. Upon inspection cyl #2 Spark plug electrode broke off/melted into the cylinder causing a gauge in the cylinder. Vehicle is being dropped off to the dealer for most likely an engine replacement.
NHTSA complaint 11760304At 3k miles the turbocharger and parts within the transmission failed on my 2025 ford maverick, there were no warning lamps or messages on the dash but I had the symptoms of lack of power, the truck struggled to climb hills, it sounded like the turbo sound was coming through the air vents, and going uphill it almost stalled. I took it to one ford dealership who claimed it was normal operation before taking it to one of Fords commercial truck centers who diagnosed a turbo failure and various parts within the transmission have failed.
NHTSA complaint 11760204The contact's employer owns a 2025 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the pre-collision warning light suddenly activated, and the vehicle abruptly stopped. After pulling over and waiting for several minutes, the contact was able to continue driving. The contact also had whiplash from the failure, and medical attention was needed. The contact mentioned completing 12 sessions of physical therapy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure reoccurred a week later while driving approximately 30 MPH. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
NHTSA complaint 117532872025 Ford Maverick XL EcoBoost AWD with 2,000 lb tow package. Vehicle displays an 'Engine Coolant Over Temperature' warning recurrently at idle and upon initial startup when ambient temperature is 84°F or above. The warning has occurred multiple times under these conditions. Most recently, the warning appeared while the vehicle was stationary at 0 MPH immediately before entering a highway, creating a safety concern. Vehicle currently has 3,911 miles. No prior dealer service visits for this issue. The problem appears to be temperature-dependent and repeatable. Warning is displayed on the instrument cluster with a red coolant temperature icon and the temperature gauge needle visible in the high range
NHTSA complaint 11747507A year ago while driving on the interstate, my Ford Maverick suddenly threw a "Stop Safely Now" alert. I was able to turn the ignition off and back on to safely exit the highway. The alert came back once I made it to a parking lot and stuck around for a while. I was able to get it started and drove to a Ford dealership that told me it was just a software update. The same issue happened 2 more times before I made it to my destination after leaving the dealership, showing that it actually wasn't caused by a missed software update. Returning from my trip it happened 4th time. Afterward, the issue seemed to go away. Now a year later I got in the Maverick to leave work and the alert came back. I was not able to get it started and will attempt to get it over to a Ford dealership tomorrow to be seen for what seems to be the same issue, only worse if it still is not starting in the morning.
NHTSA complaint 11746575The passenger side floor is soaking wet every time it rains. Google says this is a defect with the windshield cowl, which other owners say is a common problem. Our safety is at risk with potential for mold, rust, and water intrusion into the electrical system. The truck is going to the dealership on Monday to have this issue addressed. It has been reproduced every time it rains. It has not been inspected by anyone other than myself. There were no warnings or alerts. We've noticed the wet carpet a couple times and researched the problem.

NHTSA complaint 11727027The vehicle is a 2025 Ford Maverick. The engine experienced a major internal failure that was later diagnosed by the dealership as a gouge in the #4 cylinder wall. This defect caused significant engine malfunction and required major repair/replacement. This issue which triggered a CEL created a serious safety concern because a failure of this type can result in sudden loss of engine power while driving, which increases the risk of a crash, especially when traveling at highway speeds or when attempting to merge into traffic. Loss of propulsion can place the driver and other motorists at risk. The problem was confirmed by an authorized Ford dealership, which inspected the vehicle and documented the gouged cylinder wall in cylinder #4. Repair documentation from the dealership is available.
NHTSA complaint 11723004My Wife went out to the truck 2025 Ford Maverick XLT FX4 OFF ROAD PACKAGE TOWING PACKAGE LUXURY PACKAGE to back out of our drive way as She ALWAYS Does and instead of reverse she ended up in the garage door. it went forward I have a picture to show it was in reverse tried to engage emergency brake tried to put it in park and nothing worked until she was in the door and crashed. NO COLLISION ALARMS OR PREVENTIVE COLLISION HELP THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE ON THESE TRUCKS. thank god no one was SERIOUSLY HURT that we know of BUT IT LITERALLY MESSED WITH MY PTSD AND MENTAL HEALTH. she sat in the vehicle and cried because its brand New and there is less than 400 miles on it. so know I have to pay for a GARAGE door that I don't own and fix a brand new truck. that I have only made 3 payments on. I don't have pictures of front yet because I'm afraid to move it until the tow truck comes to get it in the morning. then I will get to see the truck damage
NHTSA complaint 11722381not every time, but several times throughout driving around all day, i notice: the vehicle is in 'eco' driving mode, and while i start to slow down, lightly applying constant pressure to the brake pedal, the vehicle goes from a smooth constant slowing down pace, and all of a sudden, the vehicle seems to surge/lurch/lunge forward at a faster pace, and then a fraction of a second later, the vehicle then slows down closer to expected. Im not sure if its an issue with the hybrid eCVT , the regenerative hybrid braking, or the electronic ABS ... or some mixture of these systems. The griffin Ford dealership claims they cant re-create it, and there is no 'fix'. I drive around basically every day, and notice it now at least once to 10 times per day. the current local weather is around 20 degrees, up to maybe 50 at the hottest.
NHTSA complaint 11721847Front windshield developed a stress crack along to of windshield from one corner to other
NHTSA complaint 11713512While flat towing in Neutral Tow Mode yesterday, [XXX] (appx. [XXX]), we were headed west on [XXX] traveling at 55-mph in the #2 lane when the Maverick abruptly started screeching the tires and dragging behind our motorhome. I was able to safely get to the right shoulder within about 100-yards. We were 18-miles into the 104-mile journey to our home from the RV park in San Dimas. (Level ground.) I then got in the Maverick, placed my foot on the brake, started it and shifted to Park to take it out of Neutral Tow Mode. (It started right up) I then received an error message on the display “Electronic Parking Brake needs servicing” I then unhooked the Maverick from the motorhome and successfully backed it up 50-yards along the shoulder and then drove it forward, the drive train seemed to be fine. At that point I decided to hobble home with my wife driving the Maverick, following behind the motorhome… when I located the next convenient offramp we pulled over to a side street where I drove the Maverick about 2-miles just to verify that it was drivable (other than the flat spots on the front tires.) I know that the EPB activates the rear brakes when stopped, however there aren’t any distinguishable flat spots on the rear tires. I understand that the EPB activates the hydraulic system when activated while in motion. This leads me to believe that the EPB activated on the freeway, causing the malfunction. When we safely returned home I connected the Maverick to the RV and flat towed for 5-miles without any problems. (Appx. 3:00pm) Other Possibility Possibly Neutral Tow Mode disengaged causing the drivetrain to lock up? But it was still in Neutral Tow Mode when I got in the vehicle to start it after the braking incident, and the vehicle doesn’t seemed to have drive train damage. (It drove the remaining 85-miles home without issue.) BlueOx Towing Setup (we have towed for 5,000 miles without issue) and BlueOx Patriot 3 supplemental brake system. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C.
NHTSA complaint 11713024I got out of my truck this morning once I arrived at work and the parking brake function unavailable message came on. I got back in and started the vehicle and Parking Brake Unavailable, Advanced Trac unavailable, Hill Descent Assist unavailable, ABS unavailable, and Forward Collision/ Lane-Keeping System unavailable messages were all on dash. Attempted to take my truck to Ford of Murfreesboro as there is a recall that is out on this issue for some 2025 Maverick EcoBoost trucks, even though it doesn't show up on my VIN, all symptoms on the recall I am experiencing. Ford of Murfreesboro service personnel was rude from the start and when I told them I didn't have an appointment, but feel like this is a safety concern they were quick to tell me it would be over a week before they could even look at it, and even if I had an appointment, it wouldn't be looked at for a week. Worst experience I have ever had with a dealership, and I will be an advocate that people DO NOT bring their vehicle to Ford of Murfreesboro if they want to actually be taken care of if their vehicle has any issues.
NHTSA complaint 11710848Front driver airbag did not deploy. Vehicle has been totaled and may not be available for inspection. Driver seatbelt tightened requiring an X-ray due to chest pains. Ford has ignored complaint. Unsure if police or insurance inspected though both questioned the airbag not deploying.
NHTSA complaint 11704892The contact owns a 2025 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the brake light located near the rear window was inoperable and the brake light had melted. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,629
NHTSA complaint 11702938I had my car running while I ran into the store, when I got back in the car I had a “Shift System Fault” error and I could not move my car. I had to have Ford Tow the truck back to its dealership. It is currently at the Ford dealership getting repaired
NHTSA complaint 11701945Pre-collision system became unavailable. System reported camera obstruction, but windshield was clear. Similar to issues in August 2025. August issue was temporary fixed via software update and reset at dealership. Suspect recurring software or physical issue with safety equipment.
NHTSA complaint 11700636Precollision assist became unavailable twice while driving during my first few days of driving.
NHTSA complaint 11699266In the first week with only 107 miles, the brakes failed 3 times at very low speeds. Once while backing out and no brakes at all. 2 days later while turning a corner in a parking light they totally failed and I just missed hitting a car. And the 3rd time when I was trying driving out of the Ford dealership they failed and I hit the dealership truck and damaged both vehicles. They didn’t believe me until I took it to the garage and parked it. Then they started it up it had no brakes.
NHTSA complaint 116902942025 2.0l Maverick 8f-35 auto trans. on cold start after sitting overnight transmission hesitates to engage and/or shifts harshly on 1st drive of the day so far. Most noticeable on 1-2 upshift. Feels like engine rpm flares or transmission skips before changing gear. Conditions repeat almost daily on first drive from cold start. I am concerned about long-term transmission damage and safety when pulling into traffic. I'm aware this and other issues have been acknowledged by Ford in prior TSBs-the same 8f-35 transmission has rough shifting in 2022-2024 documented by programs like 22B38 and 25-2127. Dealer stated after visit that no problem found and had "never heard of a Maverick doing this". there is under 700 miles on the vehicle.
NHTSA complaint 11687303Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall; the 60 most recent are listed.
