The contact owns a 2024 Genesis G70. The contact stated that there was condensation building up inside the headlight assembly, causing the headlight illumination to be reduced, and the turn light brightness was dull. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was determined that there was a crack in the headlight housing. The dealer claimed that the crack was caused by a crash. The contact believed that the failure was a safety defect and not damage caused by a crash. The contact stated that there was a high number of other Genesis vehicle owners who had experienced the exact same failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
NHTSA complaint 11761082While driving home, I engaged the self-driving feature. The vehicle immediately speeded up, and aggressively veered to the left, causing it to exit the roadway onto the grassy median, where it struck several of the metal rails and plastic pylons. This malfunction resulted in a dangerous loss of control that could have resulted in a far more severe collision. Please note the following details regarding the vehicle and its history: - Ownership: I am the second owner of the vehicle and have owned it for less than one year. The previous owner was a rental car company. - Prior Service History: I have previously taken this vehicle to the dealership on two separate occasions specifically to address concerns regarding the self-driving system pulling to the left. In both instances, I was informed that no issues could be identified. Given that this is a recurring issue that has now resulted in a collision, and my car being totalled by my insurance. I ask that you open a formal investigation into the safety and functionality of the self-driving option for this vehicle. (2024 Genesis G70 Stantard)
NHTSA complaint 11745886A 2024 Genesis G70 with 10,860 miles suffered a severe multi-system safety failure. While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle executed unexpected, unprompted automatic emergency braking (phantom braking) X2 with no forward threats present, creating an immediate highway collision hazard. Prior to this, the forward-facing cabin multifunction camera assembly near the rearview mirror experienced an electrical short and thermal runaway event, reaching a recorded surface temperature of 363°F and causing occupant blister burns to fingers. The failure caused a total collapse of the ADAS sensor grid, shutting off the Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping systems, HDA, etc. Additionally, the vehicle exhibits a severe rear differential/driveline humming, a drastic drop in fuel economy to 10.3 MPG, an A/C condensation line blockage flooding the lower undercover, and a replacement headlight housing with a dangerous 25-foot dead spot. Werner Hyundai looked at the vehicle which was 3 days days without resolution, and it has now been flatbedded to Jenkins Genesis of Ocala. The vehicle remains an unresolved, dangerous safety defect. This has been 39 days since this started. I have been trying to get Genesis Corporate to help me in this and it has been 40 days tomorrow with no avail.
