The contact owns a 2019 Hino 338. The contact stated that while his driver was driving 45 MPH, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode and failed to exceed 5 MPH while driving with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and turned off. The vehicle was restarted, but the failure persisted, and the vehicle was turned. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the after-treatment system had failed and was the cause of the failure. The contact was informed that the after-treatment system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred approximately three days later. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer, where it was determined that the after-treatment system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 500,050.
