Infotainment Center is completely unusable and a safety hazard. It constantly glitches and clicks random buttons on its own.
NHTSA complaint 11767364I wasn’t driving in my batteries started to smoke and smell burning bad!!
NHTSA complaint 11767210The center display / infotainment touchscreen on my 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport experiences repeated “phantom” or “ghost” touches. The screen registers inputs that are not being made by the driver or any passenger. This causes the system to randomly change audio sources (e.g., Bluetooth to AM/FM), open or close menus and apps, start or stop navigation, adjust volume, make unintended phone calls, and emit repeated beeping sounds. At the same time, the screen frequently becomes unresponsive or only partially responsive to actual intentional touches. This occurs most often (and most severely) when outside temperatures are hot. The display is mounted in the center of the dashboard and has a thin black plastic backing that absorbs heat, which appears to contribute to the malfunction. The problem was identified, demonstrated, and witnessed by the Honda dealership while the vehicle was still under the original factory warranty and had fewer than 20,000 miles. No parts have been replaced. The vehicle is now out of warranty. Dealership personnel indicated it is a known issue that has been escalated to regional Honda representatives and Honda engineering, that replacing the unit will not permanently fix the problem, and that no known permanent solution currently exists. This is a significant safety concern. The unexpected and continuous changes on the screen force the driver to look away from the road to try to correct the system or regain control of audio/navigation functions. There is no physical button or easy way to completely disable the touchscreen while driving. The distraction has created multiple near-miss situations. I have video documentation of the behavior occurring. Similar complaints from other 2018–2022 Honda Accord (including Hybrid) owners appear online and in public complaint databases. The design of the capacitive touchscreen / digitizer appears susceptible to heat-related failure or false inputs, and Honda has not issued a recall or effective techn
NHTSA complaint 11767075My 2022 Honda Accord has an ongoing issue with the infotainment touchscreen making selections on its own without being touched, commonly referred to as “ghost touch.” The screen randomly presses buttons, changes menus, changes audio/settings, and interferes with Apple CarPlay and normal touchscreen operation. The issue occurs repeatedly and can be very distracting while driving because the screen operates on its own and requires attention to correct or stop it. Restarting the system does not permanently resolve the problem. I am reporting this because it creates a driver-distraction/safety concern and I would like the issue documented and investigated.
NHTSA complaint 11766407The infotainment center screen flickers and beeps and turns the radio on and off while I’m driving, creating a distraction that makes driving difficult and unsafe. I have reported this issue since I bought the car new in January 2022 to the dealer and they say the manufacturer is aware of it but has come up with no solution. The issue would temporarily stop for a few months at a time but has become consistent now. The navigation and GPS are nonfunctional. The issue has become so extreme that I am afraid of driving the car. The dealer has examined the car several times in The past theee years, always saying that that Honda is working in a solution.
NHTSA complaint 11766065The infotainment touchscreen/display system in my 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid is malfunctioning and experiences repeated false or “ghost/phantom” touches even though nobody is touching the screen. The system makes selections and changes functions on its own. The problem has gotten progressively worse over time, with a significant increase during the summer of 2026, particularly during hot weather. This creates a safety concern and significant driving distraction. When the phantom touches occur, I cannot reliably use the vehicle's hands-free phone system or map/navigation display. Because the map becomes unreliable, I sometimes have to look down at my phone rather than using the vehicle's display. The system has also initiated phone calls on its own. During phone calls, it will randomly activate the mute function without me touching the screen, causing me to look at the display and attempt to correct the problem while driving. These malfunctions interfere with hands-free features intended to reduce driver distraction. I showed a video of the malfunction to personnel at a Honda dealership. A service representative/manager told me that the dealership has seen this problem on multiple vehicles and has replaced screens and/or infotainment units without necessarily correcting the problem. He also indicated that the problem appears to occur more frequently or become worse with heat. My vehicle has not yet received a formal diagnostic inspection for this issue. There were no warning lamps or warning messages before the malfunction. The main symptom is the touchscreen registering inputs without being touched. The issue has become progressively worse, with a substantial increase during hot weather in the summer of 2026. During cooler conditions, it occurs less frequently. My vehicle and infotainment system are available for inspection upon request.
NHTSA complaint 11765892The touchscreen in my 2022 Honda Accord has a "ghost touch" defect. It registers touches I never made. While I'm driving, it changes settings, opens menus, makes phone calls, and changes the volume or audio source on its own. This has happened about over 10 times since last year This is a safety issue. The sudden changes distract me while I'm driving, and I can't reliably control the screen, which also shows the backup camera. I request that NHTSA investigate this defect.
NHTSA complaint 11765503Touch screen on console has lots of ghost-touches .The audio screen keeps switching radio on when it was in off position. It goes into settings or prompts for factory reset while driving, and without touching it. Also, Android AutoPlay navigation keeps jumping around on the map, and giving excessive warnings for next turn, without touching it. This is an EXTREME driver distraction, esp. while trying to use navigation.
NHTSA complaint 11765365Driver safety issue. The touchscreen is nonrepsonsive and constantly glitches creating issues with navigation and also distraction. I have mad wrong turns, missed exits, and been completely distracted when dealing with this since I bought the vehicle. This is a common issue across this model with widespread complaints on the internet and dedicated discussion forums. The dealerships do patch jobs (sw updates) which does not directly resolve the issue. There are no actual diagnostics available that can identify a touchscreen issue to discern between an actual touch and a "ghost" touch. This is a driver safety issue and there are many videos online that show this type of glitching while driving. The technicians at the dealerships do not take the time to ever fully resolve this issue. I am taking my car back in for the 4th time tomorrow to get it reviewed. I imagine I am wasting more of my time and money to do this but it is not safe to drive like this. You have to experience it before you can say "it's just a touchscreen" issue. I've had passengers not understand how I can drive like this. And as mentioned above, it is not just me. Check the web. Honda should do a full recall on the infotainment system before someone, if it hasn't happened already, gets killed or injured. Thanks for reading. Very passionate on this issue. Can provide video of the issue if needed but there are plenty online if you should choose to search. It's bigger than my "touchscreen doesn't work."
NHTSA complaint 11764569Infotainment system
NHTSA complaint 11763991The contact owns a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the infotainment screen unexpectedly started scrolling randomly. Additionally, there was a beeping sound during the failure. The failure was a recurring failure. The dealer was contacted and diagnosed the vehicle with an electrical failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had not authorized the dealer to do the repair, even though the vehicle was under warranty. The manufacturer was contacted by phone and was made aware of the failure and stated there was no remedy available. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
NHTSA complaint 117634662022 Accord Sport 2.0T. Wireless Apple CarPlay repeatedly fails with “Unable to connect to iPhone14.” Bluetooth HandsFreeLink remains connected and the vehicle sees the phone. I have completely deleted and re-paired both Bluetooth and CarPlay; it works initially and then fails again after one or two ignition cycles. Re-pairing the phone is only a temporary fix. I'm also getting what I consider a safety hazard, where the Infotainment system cuts out phone calls, switches to the radio or changes radio stations without anybody touching it, sometimes several times in a 10-15 second period.
NHTSA complaint 11762817My Honda Accord has a recurring infotainment/touchscreen malfunction commonly described as “phantom touch” or “ghost touch.” The touchscreen was replaced approximately one year ago under warranty for the same issue. The problem has now returned and is significantly worse. The infotainment system activates and changes functions without any input from the driver. The vehicle has experienced the following: Stereo turns on unexpectedly at an alarmingly high volume. Volume increases and decreases on its own. Radio stations change without driver input. The system automatically places phone calls without driver input. Phone connectivity turns off and back on by itself. Touchscreen selections and menus activate or change on their own. The backup camera does not always display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. These failures occur unpredictably, including while the vehicle is being operated, and create a significant driver distraction. The sudden high-volume audio and unexpected activation of phone, radio, and touchscreen functions can divert the driver’s attention from the road. I am particularly concerned that the backup camera intermittently fails to display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. Honda previously replaced the touchscreen under warranty because of the same malfunction. I recently returned the vehicle to Pensacola Honda in Pensacola, Florida, after the problem recurred. I was advised by the Service Manager that Honda considers the issue a programming problem and that no further repair or replacement would be performed. The problem remains unresolved and continues to occur. The prior touchscreen replacement did not provide a lasting correction. Because the system continues to activate functions without driver input and the backup camera does not consistently display when the vehicle is placed in reverse, I am reporting this recurring malfunction to NHTSA as a vehicle safety concern.
NHTSA complaint 11762731I am writing to formally report a serious, recurring safety hazard involving the infotainment unit in my Honda Accord Sport. While driving, the infotainment screen unexpectedly resets, shuts down, switches audio channels/radio stations, and drops live navigation/maps. These spontaneous failures cause sudden, unpredictable driver distraction and eliminate essential turn-by-turn navigation during active trips. Because this defect compromises my ability to keep my full attention on the road, it poses a direct safety hazard. I have recorded video evidence documenting these sudden reboots and malfunctions while the vehicle is in operation. Video like is below. [XXX] This has been happening for a few years but I have never been able to get it on video until now. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11762407What is considered the “infotainment center” is what Honda is calling “ghosting”. It randomly selects things or doesn’t work. It makes it impossible to use maps via this device taking out the safe option to use directions. It is also highly distracting while driving as it could be randomly calling someone and you’re desperately trying to make it hang up while it’s also not responding so you have to dig out your phone which is not something that you should be grabbing while driving. It falsely reports crashes and cops etc to Google Maps. It randomly chooses what it does or doesn’t want to do and when. It’s chaotic and concerning on top of removing the ability to safely map places. Other times it doesn’t respond at all. Video available as needed. Too large to upload
NHTSA complaint 11761414I am writing because I am having an ongoing problem with my car stereo ghosting. I understand it to be the digitizer that Honda is fully aware of. When I called to speak with the service manager at the Honda dealership where I purchased my Honda Accord from in 2022, along with a Honda Care warranty, I received a well rehearsed and scripted response about Honda being aware of the problem. I was told that the issues they are experiencing with ghosting is a software issue and not a hardware issue, and for that reason Honda is no longer replacing the touchscreen or making any attempt to resolve these issues. According to the service manager at Hendrick Honda of Charleston, Gary Hamilton, their dealership has been instructed to stop switching out the hardware, as switching out the hardware has only made the problem worse than it already is. When I bought the 100K Honda Care extended warranty, with my vehicle in 2022, the key selling point that the sales manager used to sell me the warranty was all the things that could potentially go wrong with the vehicle’s electronics, including the Infotainment system and car computer. This problem that I have been experiencing with my car audio is NOT a new problem and has gotten progressively worse as time goes on. Honda has been having this same problem with all 10th generation Honda Accords (2018-2022). I pay for a monthly/annual subscription to SiriusXM radio, which I can no longer seem to enjoy because the infotainment system repeatedly kicks me out and goes completely haywire on me. I have a video that I took over a period of approximately one week and I am prepared to exercise my rights to getting this problem rectified and resolved if necessary. I am seeking a class action lawyer who may be willing to file a class action suit against American Honda Motor Corporation. In exercising due diligence, I’ve learned that the problems I am experiencing are the exact same kinds of problems that Honda Care is designed to protect us from
NHTSA complaint 11761041The vehicle's infotainment touchscreen intermittently registers phantom/ghost touches without anyone touching the screen. It randomly changes radio stations, screens and functions. During these episodes the touchscreen becomes unresponsive to the driver's actual inputs. The problem is significantly worse when the vehicle interior/display is hot. This creates a significant driver distraction and prevents the driver from reliably controlling the infotainment system. The condition has been occurring repeatedly over approximately two years
NHTSA complaint 11759951The infotainment touchscreen in my 2022 Honda Accord is malfunctioning and repeatedly registering phantom or “ghost” touches without any input from me. While I am driving, the system unpredictably changes screens, changes radio stations and audio settings, interferes with phone/CarPlay functions, and makes selections on its own. The malfunction can happen suddenly and repeatedly while the vehicle is in motion. This is frightening and creates a serious driving distraction because the unexpected activity draws my attention away from the road and causes me to try to determine what the system is doing or correct unwanted selections. I am concerned that this unpredictable malfunction could contribute to a crash. There is no warning before it occurs, and I cannot reliably predict or control when it will happen. The vehicle is available for inspection, and I am seeking evaluation by an authorized Honda dealership. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether this is a widespread safety-related defect because other owners have reported similar phantom-touch behavior.
NHTSA complaint 11759267The head gasket failed in the engine. Coolant leaked into the cylinder head causing the engine to overheat and put the driver at danger to immediate vehicle failure while driving. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership. There were warning lamps that indicated engine overheating.
