NHTSA complaint 11767250The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that due to prolonged sunlight exposure, the interior foam fabric of the driver’s and passenger’s side sun visors were warped and swollen. The swelling caused the interior parts of the sun visors to poke through the exterior fabric coverings, creating a bulge that obstructed the view while driving. Additionally, the interior plastic housing had separated. The sun visors failed to stay in place and flapped around loosely, striking the driver’s head while driving. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the failure was confirmed. The failure mileage was 54,700.
NHTSA complaint 11766704The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that the infotainment system screen intermittently turned off while driving approximately 65-80 MPH. The messages "Network Communication Lost" and "Most Net Off" were displayed. The failure caused the rear-view camera to become inoperable and the speakers to make crackling sounds, which distracted the driver. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer and a second dealer, Honda of Princeton (987 State Rd, Princeton, NJ 08540), where the FAKRA connector was replaced several times, but the failure persisted. The dealers attempted to repair the vehicle nine times over four years. The contact related the failure to Warranty Extension: 21-012 (2019-20 Passport/Pilot MOST Bus Network Connectors) and NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V431000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
NHTSA complaint 11764514The contact owns a 2019 HONDA Passport. The contact stated while driving the vehicle at an undisclosed speed, he noticed that the vehicle had reduced power and could not accelerate very well, accompanied by an odd noise coming from the engine bay. The contact stated that he had an independent mechanic confirm that the noise was a possible engine issue leading to the destruction of the camshaft and other components. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they confirmed a main bearing connecting rod failure and a code stating a lack of oil in the engine, although the vehicle has shown a good history of maintenance. The contact stated he had gotten an emissions warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated the issue he noticed was the odd sound, which first sounded like a ticking noise and became louder over time. The contact also noted the dealer had discovered metal shavings in the oil pan. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer confirmed the failure. The vehicle was not repaired.
NHTSA complaint 11763473Car began making loud rattling noise which proceeded to a larger grinding noise in the engine. Car sudden wouldn’t accelerate and had to be shut off. It wouldn’t restart and once it did get jumped produced an intensely loud grinding rattling noise. Car had to be towed to Honda which upon diagnosis was found to have metal shards in the oil pan and diagnosis to replace entire engine. Honda is denying recall on this engine though it is very similar engine to what they currently have recalled for their V6 engines in Pilots, Odysseys ect
NHTSA complaint 11761155I am writing to formally request goodwill assistance regarding a significant hardware failure in my 2019 Honda Passport. My vehicle is currently experiencing diagnostic trouble code U3000-49 (Internal Electronic Failure of the Multipurpose Camera Unit), which has completely disabled my Honda Sensing suite, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Collision Mitigation. While my vehicle has approximately 76,000 miles and is out of the original bumper-to-bumper warranty, I am deeply concerned that this is a premature internal electronic component failure rather than normal wear and tear. Why I Am Reaching Out: Widespread Hardware Defect: The U3000-49 internal circuit board failure is a known, heavily documented issue impacting Honda Sensing-equipped vehicles (such as the closely related Honda Pilot and Odyssey models built on the same architecture). Safety Impact: This failure shuts down primary active safety features that were a core part of why I purchased a Honda. A structural component failure disabling safety features after roughly 7 years of ownership is unreasonable for a brand with Honda's reputation for longevity. Exclusion from Current Actions: I am aware of ongoing class-action litigation regarding these exact front sensor camera failures in Honda vehicles. While my specific vehicle model year/trim configuration is not currently named in the active scope of those specific lawsuits, the mechanical and electronic reality of the part is identical. Replacing this unit and performing the mandatory ADAS static calibration quotes out to over $1,500–$2,000 at local service centers—an extreme financial burden for a manufacturing-related internal circuit board failure. Given my loyalty to the brand and the safety-critical nature of these systems, I am asking Honda to step in and offer goodwill assistance to cover or heavily subsidize the replacement and calibration of this failed multipurpose camera unit. Thank you for your time, considerati
NHTSA complaint 11759609The vehicle engine is dying at intersections and going into “neutral” on its own when stopped. This has been ongoing for over a year, Honda denies any issues. It is becoming more of a safety problem more recently as the vehicle “downshifted” on its own while driving on the highway. (On that instance, the vehicle went from approx 45 mph to a slow crawl - just enough to pull off the road to safety).
NHTSA complaint 11755903What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The rear subframe, specifically the passenger-side rear suspension mounting bracket, is failing due to severe, premature corrosion. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety was put at extreme risk because a local authorized Honda dealership fraudulently closed out an active, critical safety recall (NHTSA Campaign Number 26V-365) without actually performing the mandated repair. They returned the vehicle to me to drive on public roads with a heavily rusted, structurally compromised rear subframe where the flange seams are actively separating. Driving this vehicle poses a critical, ongoing risk because the rear control arm mounting points could fracture and fail. Such a failure would cause the rear wheels to become misaligned or inadequately retained, resulting in a sudden and catastrophic loss of vehicle handling, stability, and braking performance. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The local authorized Honda dealership explicitly acknowledged the open recall during my initial service visit and stated they needed to order the remedy parts. They subsequently contacted me to bring the vehicle back under the pretense that the parts had arrived. They released the vehicle back to me and marked the recall as officially completed in their system. However, physical inspection of the undercarriage confirms the passenger-side subframe bracket remains completely bare, unreinforced, and heavily corroded. Because official corporate recall notices confirm that the required replacement parts are globally backordered until the fall, it is physically impossible for the dealership to have performed the installation, confirming they falsified the repair record and returned an unsafe vehicle. Prior to the dealer visits, I experienced significant shuddering and abnormal vibrations from the rear suspension.
NHTSA complaint 11755169All safety features failed to work at the same time associated with forward looking camera u-3000-49. Dealer inspected vehicle stating that the issue was the failed camera. It was during the winter after a snow storm, we went to dinner and a mile from home at Rockwell and NW Expressway in Oklahoma City, OK. All of the warning lights went haywire. We went straight to dealer service center, Where they wiped the sensor/camera. Resolved for 1-2 hours and started again. After another evaluation, told it was the noted camera above malfunctioning and would be $2000 to repair.
NHTSA complaint 11754130About 1 year ago when the car was only 6 yeas old a series of warning lights lit up on the dashboard of our 2019 Honda Passport. The warning lights showed failures in several of the Honda sensing suite safety features including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation, vehicle stability assist, and auto high beam problem. The Honda dealership told us it could be a problem with the front facing multi-purpose camera or the radar and the problem was triggering a full failure of the entire Honda sensing suite and all of the safety features. They were unable to diagnose the issue and suggested replacing and recalibrating both the camera and the radar. The quote for this work was over $7,000 and they couldn’t even ensure us that it would fix the issue or that it wouldn’t fail again in the future. As a result we either have to continue to drive our car without any of the safety features that we purchased the car for, try to sell the car for a greatly reduced amount because of the myriad of safety warnings that show up on the dash, or spend over half of what the car is worth at the dealership for a repair without any assurances that the problem won’t reoccur. Based on internet research this is a very common problem for many Honda vehicles between 2019 and 2025. We have been driving the car “as-is” for over a year now hoping that Honda would issue a recall for this widespread safety issue. NHTSA complaint 11753931There has been multiple times that my 2019 passport has had the “brake” indicator pop up on my dash telling me to brake when there is nothing there I mean like a completely empty road. There has been a handful of times that it has actually stopped my car like slammed the brakes when there is nothing around or a couple times when a car was passing on the other side of the roadway. This has happened multiple times with someone driving behind me and I fear it could cause a crash due to the car randomly braking so hard.
NHTSA complaint 11748679The safety features connected to the rear view mirror and vehicle sensors malfunctioned. The Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation System, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keep Assist and High Beam - brake system - have stopped working. It was diagnosed as an internal failure of multipurpose camera. I have noticed there have been a lot of complaints of this failure. My car doesn’t have that many miles on it and isn’t that old. It seems like a defect in the car.
NHTSA complaint 11744579It is available for inspection upon request and I’m not sure as what is happening to it. My an others safety was put at risk when my vehicle suddenly lost power an would not accelerate no matter how much I pressed on gas pedal during driving on a highway there was significant hesitation an would go then act up again it has happened intermittently for over a year now . I have brought it to the attention of Honda dealership and the headquarters a nothing has been done. They claim no light no act up for them . Light came on once no codes and message of an emissions system problem as well then was cleared an no fix. I chance it every time I go out because they refuse to do a better job of testing it. I suggested it may be the fuel injectors because many vehicles have had same problems a were recalled but my my vin was not apart of it. Sadly. Seems it’s a uphill battle to be taken seriously in this matter.
NHTSA complaint 11742571I purchased this vehicle at the end of February 2026. Since the purchase this vehicle has on numerous occasions for no reason applied the brakes and made the steering wheel shake. This has almost caused an accident on several occasions, with today another instance on 5-23-2026. I would turn the system off but from what I understand it re-engages itself after every drive. I like the vehicle but im afraid that its going to cause an accident or someones death. Had I known that I couldn't permanently turn off this dangerous system i would have never bought it and bought a Lexus SUV instead. Honda should give their customers who want to turn this system off a way to do so.
NHTSA complaint 11739733The safety features connected to the camera and vehicle sensors have all stopped working. Every time I start my car, multiple lights come on and dashboard messages that cruise control, lane assist and collision prevention systems are not working. The dealership quoted me $2300 to fix and said new sensors/computer system would need to be put in and calibrated. I tried putting a new battery in, which unfortunately did not help. I have heard of multiple other Passport drivers having this issue.
NHTSA complaint 1173307204/10/2026 at around 8am and 04/14/2026 at around 7pm - At both times, car stopped at red light. Auto start-stop shut off car engine. When light turned green and stepped on gas, engine shut down and warning lights came on. Car was still in “drive.” Had to push “park” button and then started engine.
NHTSA complaint 11731265MY 2019 HONDA PASSPORT WITH JUST OVER 100K MILES JUST HAD COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE AND HAS REGULARLY HAD RANDOM HARD SHIFTS SINCE THE DAY I GOT IT AND IVE BROUGHT THE ISSUE UP TO THE DEALER EVERY TIME IT IS BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE. THEY ALWAYS TELL ME THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. AFTER JUST DRIVING TO GET MY CHILD FROM SCHOOL AND COMING HOME PARKING MY CAR AND RUNNING INSIDE THE CAR WAS FINE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS SYSTEM LIGHTS OR WARNINGS THAT SOMETHING WOULD GO WRONG. BUT I GO BACK OUT 10 MINUTES LATER TO TURN IT ON AND THE ENGINE STARTS AND IDLES FINE BUT THERE IS AN ERROR ON THE SCREEN SAYING TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND THE CAR WONT GO INTO ANY GEAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED AND THE DEALER DOES NOT YET KNOW HOW MUCH ITS GOING TO COST. THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR 3 DAYS NOW AND WONT TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT PART OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, HOW IT FAILED, OR WHAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED IT. I WAS ONLY TOLD THEY ARE WAITING TO HEAR FROM PARTS AND ITS GOING TO BE PRICY! FOR SUCH A YOUNG CAR IT SHOULD NOT NEED THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT THIS POINT IN ITS LIFE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE ISSUE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY HONDA. THIS WILL CAUSE MAJOR ISSUES FOR PEOPLE LIVING THEIR EVERYDAY LIFE PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK. I DONT HAVE MONEY TO PAY FOR SUCH AN EXPENSIVE FIX! I JUST PAID IT OFF.
NHTSA complaint 11729074The part that malfunctioner is the auto start from stop. I was at the Park and XXX light In [XXX] . My car would not start after I got to the stoplight. The auto start did not work. Important to share, this happens at least two or three times a day in my vehicle. Many times when I come My vehicle will not start on its own. NHTSA complaint 11728695I was traveling over HighwayXX headed toward [XXX] , traveling has seen a 50 miles an hour when my 2019 passport Auto braked without me putting my foot on the brake. when this happened, the Car Fish tailed towards the center divide, almost hit the cement divide, and I had to correct my steering four times in order to avoid traffic, or crashing into a forest of mature trees. Because of these multiple corrections that I had to make, I ended up swerving in and out of both lanes and my car was out of control for a significant amount of time. It almost hit the center divide of Highway 17. At one point, I was at 180° angle, almost going the other direction. The auto braking of this vehicle, almost got me killed. NHTSA complaint 11728694The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds, the transmission was shifting hard. The Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, transmission, and auto high beam warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where a transmission flush was performed; however, the failure persisted. The dealer performed a diagnostic scan and retrieved DTC: U0104 and U0104-00. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,200.
NHTSA complaint 11727283Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall; the 60 most recent are listed.
