On XXX, I was loading items in the rear cargo area of an Avis rental vehicle, a 2025 Hyundai Palisade when the power liftgate was fully open above me, without warning and without me commanding it to close, the liftgate unexpectedly came down/fell. It struck me in the head and I lost consciousness, I don’t know how long I was unconscious. When I regained consciousness, I was in the rear cargo area of the vehicle with the liftgate on my back. I sought emergency medical treatment the same day at Chippenham Hospital in [XXX]. My records show evaluation for neck pain and headache. CT imaging of my head/brain and cervical spine , and discharge info for concussion and a pinched nerve in the neck. I subsequently received orthopedic and spine treatment and physical therapy for continuing neck, back, shoulder and knee complaints. My concern is, a fully open powered liftgate should not unexpectedly descend onto a person beneath it. I am asking NHTSA to record and evaluate this incident as a power liftgate safety defect. The vehicle was a rental from Avis on [XXX] and does not list the VIN number on my contract. I am requesting the VIN number and maintenance repair history from Avis to supplement this complaint. On August 10, 2026, at approximately 12,302 miles, I took the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealer after it stalled multiple times, including once while accelerating. I also reported sluggishness/loss of power. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle subsequently stalled two additional times. In September 2026, while driving at highway speed with cruise control engaged, the vehicle suddenly and aggressively decelerated/braked as though it detected an obstacle ahead, although no vehicle or obstacle was present. A similar event occurred the following day. Unexpected braking, loss of power, or stalling at highway speed creates a serious collision risk. I have also experienced a forward-collision warning when no vehicle was in front of me and intermittent jerking/hesitation. I returned the vehicle to the Hyundai dealer on September 22, 2026, at approximately 14,548 miles. The dealer performed diagnostic scans and approximately 42 miles of road testing. No relevant DTCs were found, the problems could not be reproduced, and no repair was performed. The dealer documented the result as No Trouble Found. There were no consistent warning lamps or messages before the stalling or unexpected deceleration. The cause remains unresolved despite multiple dealer visits.

  4. Filed Sep 18, 2026Failure Sep 12, 2026Irvington, NYFuel/propulsion system, Power train

While driving normally with the vehicle already in Drive, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion and displayed a message instructing me to shift to Park or Neutral. I attempted to select both Park and Neutral, but the vehicle would not respond to the shift controls. I ultimately turned the vehicle off and restarted it, after which it operated normally. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Hyundai dealer. No stored fault codes were found, and the dealer has been unable to reproduce the event during road testing and GDS flight recording. The underlying cause remains unidentified. I am concerned that recurrence in moving traffic or while crossing an intersection could create a crash risk.

After slowing to make a right or left turn, pressing on the accelarrator causes no response for ten to fifteen seconds. This proble seems to be in numerous Palisades for 2023 to 2026. Numerous message boards have reports of this issue with the dealer not being able to repair the problem. I myself almost gor into an accident due to this issue.

On 9/15/26 I had activated my left turn signal and was entering the left hand turn lane. About halfway into the lane, the vehicle dashboard displayed “Emergency steering activated” and began forcing my steering wheel the opposite direction for no reason. There was no traffic and I was not crossing into somewhere I shouldn’t. This was extremely dangerous. I haven’t notified Hyundai. Weather was sunny and clear.

Since January 2026, the southern states Hyundai dealership in Raleigh, North Carolina has given me excuses or refused to provide service for the recalls on my car unless we use a paid for service through them. recently on XXX I brought my car in for one of two recalls. Two hours prior to my appointment I called the dealership to confirm everything was all set and the timeframe. Upon arriving for my appointment, I was told that the part for the seatbelt recall had come in and the dealership was unable to complete both recalls at the time of my appointment so I requested one to be completed and then I would come back for the other another day. The dealership refused they stated “I could leave my car and just go into work a little late the next day.” They stated “ we will not get paid if we complete only one and not the other” I was turned away from my appointment unless I would go into work late the next day and leave my car overnight without a rental. Southern states Hyundai in [XXX] has denied on multiple occasions since January 2026 any recalls to be completed and hassled us every time we come in for an oil change or a state inspection due to not completing the recalls, but they also don’t have the parts and will not communicate when parts are available. Following a dealer transfer assembly replacement under warranty on a 2025 Hyundai Palisade, technicians failed to perform a post-repair alignment and left the driveshaft unseated. The 2nd dealership we went to subsequently misdiagnosed the resulting suspension warping as 'tire overinflation' on June 5. As a direct result, my family unknowingly drove thousands of highway miles across state lines to MT and SD with an unseated drivetrain and a completely loose structural subframe bolt, presenting a severe risk of catastrophic suspension/steering failure at highway speeds. They misdiagnosed 3 times and claimed to do test drives each time, but each time we got in the vehicle, we heard the noises, they said they could not hear. Had a mechanic ride with to verify the noise, and only diagnosed the driveshaft unseated afterward, but not the subframe bolt, which the structural defect was finally confirmed on August 25, the 4th time at the 2nd dealer.

I physically had to restart my car in traffic. The next time I experience this was at 20 thousand plus. We were in the hospital parking garage and the car again stop/stalled/shut down and I physically had to restart it again. This time I was driving with the auto stop off. I have experience this again at 21 thousand plus. Again I was at a stop light. The auto stop was off. The car stall/stop/completely shut down again. Car had to be restarted while again in traffic. Hyundai had been notified of the stall/stops. This was the last time I was dealing with this problem and took it into Happy Hyundai in Libertyville Illinois. They had it for a week. They did run test, but the car was not giving any codes. Happy Hyundai did not run it over the weekend for on my bluelink I get notification. On Monday my husband called and told them to drive it because this is when we are experiencing the problem. Happy Hyundai drove it once. Tech was not able to replicate it. My husband also took Happy Hyundai to let it run. They let the car run. This is what happen when we were in the hospital parking lot. We were sitting. The safety of the person driving the car is at risk for a accident. There have been reports on they Hyundai facebook web sites of the car stalling while driving at speed. I carry my handicapped daughter in my car. This stall/stop becomes a worry some problem, not knowing when it is going to shut off again. This has caused me much anxiety. I don't even want to drive my car. This is a accident waiting to happen. Along with many law suite's. No dash board cluster lights were on when the car stall/stop. Car has been inspected by Happy Hyundai and is now going back per Hyundai Coporate wanting a tech to pull codes.

I am the owner of a 2025 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy FWD, VIN [XXX], which currently has two unrepaired safety recalls. The most concerning unresolved recall is NHTSA Recall 25V607 / Hyundai Recall 283, involving front-row and second-row outer seat-belt buckle assemblies that may contain out-of-specification components. According to the recall notice, the buckle may fail to fully latch under certain conditions, creating an increased risk of injury to occupants in a crash. I have been attempting to have this safety recall remedied, but Hyundai has been unable to provide the necessary replacement part. The dealership has advised me that the seat-belt buckle part was ordered but remains on backorder. Hyundai Motor America Consumer Affairs has also confirmed that they are still waiting for the part to arrive at the dealership. I have repeatedly contacted both the dealership and Hyundai Motor America regarding this unresolved safety recall. Hyundai assigned my case to National Consumer Affairs under case number XXX. I have been given multiple promised dates for updates and phone calls, but those calls have repeatedly been postponed without the recall being remedied. Hyundai has most recently confirmed to me in writing that it is still "diligently working on getting the seat buckle order into the dealership" and that I will be contacted by the dealer once the part arrives. My vehicle also has an additional unrepaired safety recall, NHTSA Recall 26V034 / Hyundai Recall 292, concerning third-row ejection mitigation requirements. I understand that recalls must be repaired at no cost to the owner, and I am not asking NHTSA to resolve a customer-service or financial dispute. My primary concern is that I have an unresolved safety recall involving the vehicle's seat-belt restraint system and Hyundai has been unable to provide the remedy because the necessary part remains unavailable. I am requesting that NHTSA document this complaint and review the circu INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT

This 2025 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy is a “Top of the Line” model loaded with automatic gadgetry that is NOT ready for Prime Time or any roadway. It is unsafe for the following reasons: Problems appear to be software up-date related; the software updates way too often via overnight web connection. These updates not only change existing status of mundane systems (hatch or doors unlocking opening, etc.); these updates appear to insert bugs into the operating system which then affects the safety of automated vehicle systems which then create unsafe driving conditions on roads. The biggest safety concern is with Hyundai’s “Smart Cruise Control” system. When a driver chooses a set speed they want to follow, here is what happens often: The Hyundai Smart Cruise Control is turned on and a driver “attempts” to index to the desired speed. Once this speed is actually attained all is good. IF the posted road speed limit increases from 25 MPH to 40 MPH the driver has 2 choices, hold the speed increase button in for 3 seconds for a 5 MPH bump up OR press the button quickly for 1 MPH bump ups. Instead, here is what happens OFTEN, a 3 second hold jumps the speed to 65 MPH desired speed! Or, a quick bump jumps to 50 MPH desired speed! It is random and sporadic to what actually happens, so a driver must pay attention and cancel cruise control quickly, then get things back to normal and begin over. All this occurs while moving on a roadway at speed, hence UNSAFE biggly! Also, what happens, these vehicles front view camera read the posted speed limit (on a street-side sign) and “automatically” sets the posted speed into the Hyundai “Smart Cruise Control”. It has upped this SUV’s speed to 95 MPH and 75 MPH automatically! The driver needs to be attentive to what the automated “Smart Cruise Control” systems are actually doing; all while driving on busy roadways! This is VERY UNSAFE! I believe web software updates are creating these problems - STOP updates immediately.

The vehicle slid and jumped, and the brakes made a grinding sound. No warning light was illuminated. The failure caused the vehicle to rear-end another vehicle in front. The air bags deployed. The contact experienced neck pain, and her husband suffered a burn mark from the air bag deployment. The contact's eleven-year-old son suffered neck pain and a seat belt burn, while her other child had no injuries seated in a car seat. Medical attention was received. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard and declared a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that prior to the crash, the vehicle had been taken to the dealer for the brake failure, and the dealer performed a brake inspection and passed the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

What happened: A franchised Hyundai dealership installed aftermarket window tint on a new 2025 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Night Edition prior to sale without disclosing it as a dealer add-on. When the vehicle was brought in for an active manufacturer safety recall concerning the rear quarter-window glass, the dealership informed us that the official factory recall remedy (applying a protective safety film) cannot adhere to window tint. Because the dealer-installed tint prevents the recall protective film from adhering, the dealership was unable to perform the safety recall unless the window tint was permanently removed or omitted. Component involved: Rear quarter-window glass and safety recall protective film. The vehicle and windows are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The official Hyundai safety recall addresses an issue where the rear quarter-window glass poses a potential safety risk. Because the dealer-installed modification physically prevents the application of the recall safety film, the vehicle remains without the manufacturer's required safety recall remedy. Furthermore, dealership service personnel initially advised us to simply waive or decline the safety-related recall rather than resolving the modification conflict, leaving a potential safety hazard unaddressed. Dealer Confirmation & Inspection: The issue was confirmed by the authorized Hyundai dealership's service department and Service Director in writing. They verified that the recall film and the pre-installed tint are physically incompatible and that the recall remedy was omitted as a result.

My 2025 Hyundai Palisade intermittently experiences an abnormally high engine idle of approximately 1,500 RPM during the first few minutes of driving. The condition occurs randomly and is not present on every trip. While stopped at stop signs or intersections with my foot firmly on the brake pedal, I can feel the engine pushing against the brakes because of the elevated idle speed. When I release the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerates forward significantly faster than it normally would at idle. The engine speed eventually returns to a normal idle after several minutes of driving, but during the event the vehicle behaves unpredictably. This has occurred on both flat roads and hills. I have documented the condition on video showing the tachometer at approximately 1,500 RPM while the vehicle is stopped and my foot is on the brake. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Hyundai dealership and remained there for approximately one week. The dealership was unable to reproduce the condition during testing and returned the vehicle without repairs. No warning lights or messages have appeared. Because the condition is intermittent and results in unexpected forward acceleration when the brake is released, I believe it presents a potential safety risk.
