The contact owns a 2022 Indian FTR1200 Motorcycle. The contact stated that while riding at various speeds on several occasions, the motorcycle lost automotive power with battery failure and an inoperable ABS. The contact stated that the ECM was sending 16 amps to the battery instead of the standard 14 amps, causing the battery to fail prematurely. The motorcycle was taken to a local dealer and was diagnosed with electrical failures; however, the motorcycle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,300.
NHTSA complaint 11670616The contact owns a 2022 Indian Motorcycle FTR1200. The contact stated while driving at 25 MPH, the contact smelled an odor of burning coming from the motorcycle, followed by the check engine and another unknown warning light illuminated, and the motorcycle started overheating. The contact was able to pull over on the side of the road safely and had the motorcycle towed to a friend’s home. The motorcycle was not diagnosed. The dealer was contacted but no appointment was set. The manufacturer was contacted, and they stated that the dealer had to call and order the parts. The failure mileage was 500.
NHTSA complaint 11488772Motorcycle will shut down for no reason. Full loss of power. Purchased motorcycle on 6/28/22. The bike has been back to the dealership twice. Still same problem. Dangerous!!! You will be driving around in traffic and all of a sudden it will just die.
