On XXX, a 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer towing a camper/trailer experienced a safety interlock failure resulting in an unintended vehicle rollaway and severe personal injuries. While leaving an RV park in [XXX], the driver felt a dragging from the trailer, stopped the vehicle, unbuckled his seatbelt, opened the driver's door, and exited the vehicle while the engine was running. Unbeknownst to the occupants, the driver did not manually shift the transmission into park prior to exiting. The Grand Wagoneer is equipped with two factor-designed automated safety interlocks intended specifically to prevent unexpected rollaways: 1. AutoPark: designed to automatically shift the transmission into park if the engine is running, the driver's seatbelt is unbuckled, and the driver's door is opened while the vehicle is in gear. 2. SafeHold: designed to automatically engage the electric parking brake if the driver exits while the engine is running and no pedals are pressed. Both "AutoPark" and "SafeHold" safety features failed to activate or engage. Because neither system functioned as intended, the vehicle and attached trailer rolled rolled forward unexpectedly while a passenger was underneath the trailer checking its braking assembly. The attached trailer ran over the passenger, causing severe injuries. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
