while the vehicle was being driven at highway speed, a large piece of roof trim detached from the vehicle and went airborne. The piece measures approximately 6 inches by 42 inches, and is stiff plastic. My jeep renegade has the MySky sunroof option, and this trim is a piece that sit just forward of those panels, filling the gap between the sunroof and the metal of the windshield frame. To be clear, this piece is not part of the sunroof itself, it is supposed to be a permanently attached and not movable part of the vehicle. The piece went airborne to the extent that it left the roadway. I was able to return later and recover it. Inspecting the piece and where it attaches, there is no damage to the vehicle or the piece. It attaches only with two sided tape and urethane - it is designed with no true mechanical connection to the vehicle - no clips, bolts, or fasteners. The piece detached as heat and time had degraded the two sided tape and urethane. This is the second time this exact failure has occurred with this vehicle. The first was in August of 2018. The piece was replaced by New Holland Jeep Service, and they acknowledged it as a defect and gave a warranty extension as a courtesy. Searching online, this is a known issue for owners of Jeep Renegades with the MySky option. This is a hazard and negligent design. A large panel like this should not be held on with tape and glue. It is fortunate that there was no traffic behind the vehicle either time this piece detached and went airborne. It is easy to imagine a scenario where this could have caused an accident. Given that these panels rely on only adhesive to remain attached to the vehicle, the danger of these detaching grows with time as heat and age weaken the tape + urethane.
NHTSA complaint 11744254I am writing to report a recurring safety issue with my vehicle’s transmission. When attempting to accelerate into traffic, the engine revs high but fails to deliver power to the wheels, acting as if it is in neutral. This failure to shift into gear has occurred several times and poses a significant safety risk. I have maintained the vehicle regularly, including recent fluid changes. My research indicates that this year and model are subject to Recall 16V529000, which specifically addresses the 9-SPD 948TE automatic transmission found in my vehicle. I have no record of this recall being performed on my car.
NHTSA complaint 11727419As I was driving the airbag light quickly turned on and off. I did not get it checked out but it is a known issue were the light will turn on due to electrical issues. And if this fails and others or myself are driving/riding in this vehicle and a crash occurs we will not have the protection of the airbags.
NHTSA complaint 11726124I previously had this same issue August 2024 (associated complaint 11608428). My rear drivers side tail light is out completely-no brake light, reverse, turn signal, or nighttime tail light is working. I spent nearly $800 to replace part 68599920AA, as the entire motherboard was fried, as were the connectors from overheating. I’ve located several other complaints with similar issues: 11585014; 11142232; 11023686. This is clearly a defective issue with Jeep Renegades and a safety concern that should be a recall.
NHTSA complaint 11723425I am driving down the road and the vehicle goes into neutral and the engine turns off. I then have to stop the vehicle and restart it. When I hit the starter button. It sputters and then starts. This has been happening irregularly 1-3 times a week since it started in December of 2025.With last time happening being on 2/16/2026.
NHTSA complaint 11719320Low oil pressure indication light came on and then off. Vehicle taken to Jeep, they informed us that the 2.4L engine was consuming oil which led to internal damage to engine. Service associate claims Jeep had a recall on this specific problem with this specific engine.
NHTSA complaint 11710819I purchased in 2015 (Jeep Renegade). The dealership promised a “lifetime warranty” for the duration of my ownership, but despite repeated service visits over the past 10 years for persistent electrical problems, they have refused to honor this warranty. It has come to my recent attention that the two major reasons jeep has stopped making the Renegade was due to electrical and engine issues. Both issues with my car never told to me, and games are being played. Key points: I have complete documentation: purchase receipts, service records, text messages, and emails confirming the warranty and the repeated service attempts. The dealership now claims they have no record of my purchase. I was assured by a service representative that the issues were covered under warranty so I brought it there time and time again. The last time I brought it in the representative was working on it under warranty, but the representative was later terminated while still working to resolve the problem. These service manager, Keri has played games to avoid repairs and has even tried to tell me that I didnt buy my car there when I have proof I did. She said my receipts mean nothing and aren't proof. Its been a non stop headache for almost 10 years when all they had to do was be honest from the beginning. This car has had these problems on and off since 2017 and caused the dealer to have to replace the engine due to this parasitic draw. Each time pretending to fix it and not doing so. These issues have caused significant inconvenience, expenses, and emotional stress over a decade. I would like to explore: Enforcing the lifetime warranty and having the electrical issues properly fixed free of charge Pursuing remedies under Tennessee’s consumer protection laws for unfair or deceptive trade practices. Discussing compensation for damages resulting from the dealership’s repeated failures to repair the vehicle. I am fully prepared to provide all documentation, a detailed timeline of events
NHTSA complaint 11696158When I was driving and stopped at a red light, my Jeep automatically shut off. It had the steering wheel warning and air bag warning pop up. I had a message that told me to put my vehicle in Park when I tried to start it back up. I placed it in park and started up the Jeep again. It came back on, but the warning lights remained on. Once I made it home, I safely turned my vehicle off and then restarted it. Once I restarted it, those warnings were no longer on.
NHTSA complaint 11695691I was driving my vehicle and all of the sudden it just turned off and said vehicle shift to P to select gear, and I kept pressing the gas and it wouldn’t move , I have nothing on my dash no lights or anything.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,300.
NHTSA complaint 11691047When starting the car and letting it warm up for 2 minutes. The vehicle shifts hard or takes it time to shift into next gear, and while idling for less than 5 minutes, the car warms up 32 degrees. Which I do not believe the fan motor is working properly. Also took car to dealership blown trans and engine mounts.
NHTSA complaint 11689833The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of coolant, and there was white smoke coming from under the hood. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, where DTC: P0481"Engine Cooling Fan Fault" was displayed. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
NHTSA complaint 11686795After I filled up my tank, I drove and turned onto a busy highway. As I was turning, it felt like my car went into neutral. I had to take my foot off of the gas and looked to see if the shifter switched gears, but it was still in drive. After about 10 seconds it shifted into gear. If I did not wait for the road to be clear I could have gotten into a major accident.
NHTSA complaint 11671836p 215/65 R16 98H SL BSW. date of Manufacture 0919. Made in Canada. What happened the car four tires became a hazard to drive after 6 years from installing the tire . The problem is the deterioation of the rubber was unknowable only by experts. Furthermore, I did not consider my experience enough so I had to confirm it with local shops belle tire and a small local shop . However, In my experience other than the visual. To get accurate analysis I need to apply multiple tests, like chemical component analysis to be verified as manufacture deficiency .Those expansive lab resting over my budget. I had replaced all tires on 06-14-2025 with Cooper tires.P.S. Many drivers don't check their tires they just trust a brand .
NHTSA complaint 11670429Complaint Summary: I brought my 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk (VIN: [XXX] ) to AutoNation CDJR Roseville on May 17, 2025, for the U90 emissions recall. The catalytic converter was replaced, and the PCM software was updated. However, the U0402 diagnostic trouble code (implausible data received from TCM) remains stored. This code has been persistent and prevents the vehicle from passing California emissions, which is required for my registration as the car was transferred from out-of-state. The service advisor initially stated that the TCM was updated, but later corrected himself and admitted the TCM already had the latest version and was not reprogrammed. I have not been given written confirmation that the TCM software or wiring was verified or addressed. I am concerned the dealership is refusing to properly resolve this under recall and is instead recommending a full transmission replacement without supporting mechanical codes or verifying the emissions system software/communication is compliant. I’m requesting FCA’s assistance, and the BAR in California to enforce the complete and proper execution of the U90 recall and resolution of the U0402 code under recall scope. Please help ensure the vehicle is brought into emissions compliance. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11664964When adding fuel at the gas station through vehicle Cap-less fuel fill tube, gas pump nozzle could not be removed without pulling on it which snapped the small thin plastic tabs holding cap-less fuel port in place. According to the manufacturer and repair Shops the entire fuel filler tube system has to be replaced and requires the gas tank to be removed to install the new tube This is a very poor design with poor quality materials and will cause fuel spills and combustion
NHTSA complaint 11664150The 2015 Jeep Renegade has had a vibrating sensation since I purchased it used in 2021 from an auto dealership. The vibrations got stronger as time went on. The issue was finally determined what caused the vibrations in May, 2025 and confirmed by an independent mechanic. The vehicle was inspected by a Jeep dealer previously. The vehicle was not inspected by the police or insurance representatives. The auto needed a new Engine Motor Mount. A new one was installed on the front right side, engine mount. The auto is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk because a failed mount leads to excessive engine movement, which can damage other components, affect handling, and lead to accidents.
NHTSA complaint 11659921The Evaporative Emissions System (EVAP system), including components such as the charcoal canister, purge valve, and/or fuel tank venting system, appears to be malfunctioning. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. After refueling the vehicle completely, it will stall or shut off unexpectedly while driving, which could cause a collision, particularly in traffic or at highway speeds. This sudden loss of power places myself, my passengers, and other drivers at significant risk. The vehicle has been inspected by an independent mechanic, but not by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. No warning lights, error messages, or advance symptoms were present prior to the vehicle stalling. The issue first occurred around 2022.
