I have a failed 68C Federal Recall Safety Remedy Recall. The jeep suffered a catastrophic high-voltage battery and powertrain failure while operating at highway speeds. The vehicle is unsafe to drive, charge, or park near structures due to Fire Risk. In December of 2025 at the Jeep's authorized dealership the battery passed corporate software diagnostics, and Stellantis assured me the vehicle was safe to operate. The recall remedy completely failed. On September 18, 2026 while driving at highway speeds in active traffic, the vehicle suffered a total loss of powertrain power and shut down completely, creating an imminent safety hazard for myself and others. The vehicle has been sitting at the dealership since then. There are also other active recalls on the vehicle that put myself and others in danger. Parking in a garage or near a structure are not permitted. It is also not safet to charge.
NHTSA complaint 11768287The contact's sister owns a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at 2 MPH and turning, the vehicle crashed into a light pole and the air bag violently deployed. The contact sustained whiplash, a bruise on the left hand, arm, and head. The air bag struck the contact on the nose. There was smoke from the air bag. The SOS message was displayed, and the Police were alerted. The Police Officer stated that the air bag should not have deployed and was caused by a sensor failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was scheduled for repair.
NHTSA complaint 11767669Since the completion of the 68c recall, my Jeep has a concerning issue: when driving in “electric” mode for about 15-20 minutes, the available power starts to decline. Despite pressing on the accelerator it continues to decline for about 10-15 seconds. Then the screen displays “Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable”, the ICE starts and engages (with no warmup) and the Jeep switches to “Hybrid” mode. This all happens despite there being a 40%+ charge remaining on the battery and ambient temperature being less than 70 degrees F. I believe the 10-15 seconds of reduced power poses a significant safety risk in a situation such as passing a vehicle or pulling out in traffic.
NHTSA complaint 11767648i was on the freeway and the vehicle loss power and not allowing me to speed the vehicle up. I was stuck in the middle of traffic and i was concern for my children safety
NHTSA complaint 11767599My Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe experienced a sudden and severe loss of motive power while making a left turn onto US Route 301 at a major intersection. When the traffic light turned green, I attempted to accelerate through the intersection, but the vehicle suddenly entered what is commonly referred to as “Turtle Mode” and would only travel approximately 2 MPH. This left the vehicle moving extremely slowly in an active major roadway and created an immediate risk of being struck by approaching traffic. I activated the hazard lights and had to make an emergency maneuver to move the vehicle to the right and out of the travel lanes. This is the FOURTH time this vehicle has experienced a sudden loss of power/Turtle Mode condition. The problem is intermittent and occurs without sufficient warning to safely remove the vehicle from traffic. Warning indicators/messages associated with the reduced-power condition appeared when the failure occurred. The vehicle was previously taken to an authorized Jeep dealership for this same recurring problem and remained there for approximately one month. The dealership was unable to determine the cause of the repeated Turtle Mode/loss-of-power condition and was unable to provide a repair that resolved it. The manufacturer’s customer care department was also contacted regarding the problem, but the case was subsequently closed even though the condition had not been resolved. Following the incident, Jeep Roadside Assistance was contacted and the vehicle was towed to another authorized Jeep dealership, where it is currently available for inspection and diagnosis. The vehicle also has open recall. The exact relationship, if any, between the recall and this repeated loss-of-motive-power condition is UNKNOWN. I am reporting this because the sudden loss of propulsion has now occurred four times and can leave the vehicle unable to accelerate or maintain normal roadway speed.
NHTSA complaint 11766878I took my car to the dealership that sold it to me in XXX for oil change and I told them I was noticing it was swerving left and right and they said that's how jeeps drive, then I took it for recall in [XXX] Jeep dealer and they checked the recall and I told them about the swerving and again they told me it's they way jeeps drive. I then took it again becasue by XXX my front passenger was completely bald and all they did was quote me tires. I took it finally to Taylor on XXX and came back the steering damper was worn out. They couldn't tell me why my tires were messed up. They told me they don't know what's wrong with tires, all I could do is get new tires and alignment to see if that helped. NHTSA complaint 11766736Since my 68C recall repair my jeep has suffered from sudden electric power loss. This can occur when trying to accelerate from a stop or merging into faster moving traffic. This can also happen while driving and attempting to accelerate resulting in sudden slowdown before gas engine kicks in. This happens daily.
NHTSA complaint 11766230When I drive out of my neighborhood there is a small hill and when I start going up the hill it starts to lose power. Enough power that I have hit the gas pedal or it holds up traffic. I usually put it in cruise and that's when it does this. This was not a problem until we did all the recalls. This continues to be frustrating. And Jeep- Stellantis is no help. This happens everyday. This vehicle does it everyday. It doesn't have the power that it use to. My gas mileage has took a hit also because the engine starts way before it use to. It defeats the whole purpose of purchasing this vehicle.
NHTSA complaint 11766152Since having my 68C recall update done back in February of this year, there has been a significant difference in the powertrain of my 2024 Wrangler 4XE. When driving in electric mode, mainly on a highway, the gas engine will kick on many times for short runs when it never did before. Also, when running on electric, the power or low-end torque has been very much noticeably diminished. This is of concern when merging and pulling out onto a highway. I just want my Jeep 4XE to operate as it did prior to the 68C recall being done. When the Jeep seems to have lots of power while driving in electric and the gas engine did not kick on nearly as much or without asking the vehicle to get up and go quickly.
NHTSA complaint 11765818While driving in electric mode on the highway at 60+ mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power . Chimes sounded, and an alert on the dash read “battery power unavailable” (or similar, I don’t remember the exact words). It appeared to switch into gas mode after about 6 seconds. Dangerous and frightening nonetheless.
NHTSA complaint 11765796My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe was brought to an authorized Jeep dealership on July 25, 2026 for recall/warranty-related issues. The vehicle currently has approximately 17,000 miles and has remained continuously in the dealership's possession since July 25. As of September 21, 2026, the vehicle has been unavailable to me for approximately 58 days and has still not been repaired or returned. The dealership has verbally informed me that the vehicle requires replacement of both the engine and the high-voltage battery. However, I have not been provided the specific recall campaign numbers in writing. According to the dealership, the repair has been substantially delayed while waiting for the necessary parts from Jeep/FCA. The vehicle remains at the authorized dealership and is available for inspection. I am concerned that safety-related defects serious enough to require replacement of both the engine and high-voltage battery have left this vehicle unusable for nearly three months, with no completed repair and no firm return date. I am reporting this because Jeep/FCA has been unable to complete the required recall-related repairs within a reasonable period. The vehicle has been inspected and diagnosed by an authorized Jeep dealership, which continues to retain possession of it. I am requesting that NHTSA review this extended repair delay and Jeep/FCA's ability to provide the required safety-recall remedies and replacement parts in a timely manner.
NHTSA complaint 117657572024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe purchased new November 2024. Recall 68C (NHTSA 25V741000) software update performed December 2025 at 12,524 miles. None of this occurred in the first 13 months of ownership. It all began immediately after 68C. My 7.6-mile commute (4 miles at 35-45 mph, the rest at 55-60 mph) was previously driven entirely in Electric mode. The vehicle now cannot sustain Electric mode past about 5 miles. It first suffers a sharp power loss where it lags and stops responding to the accelerator, then displays "Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable," skips the normal warm-up transition, and the gas engine surprise-starts and revs harshly to take over. This repeats on any drive sustained above 55 mph. Before 68C I routinely drove 70 mph on the interstate in Electric mode; that is now impossible. The same power loss and abrupt engine start happens on hills the vehicle handled fine before, so hilly routes are off limits. Accelerator sensitivity also changed: moderate acceleration from a stop now starts the gas engine. I am not a heavy-footed driver. In the first year before 68C this happened exactly once, during an emergency full-throttle input to avoid a collision. The most dangerous symptom occurs in both Hybrid and Electric modes: random throttle lag and lurch. Accelerating from a stop to turn left across oncoming traffic, the vehicle does not respond for one to two seconds, then lurches forward. I cannot predict when it will happen. A longer hesitation there would cause a crash. Overall available power is reduced and inconsistent. The vehicle no longer drives like the one I purchased. I have raised these issues with dealer technicians at every subsequent recall or maintenance visit. No diagnostic trouble codes are present and I am told the vehicle is operating as intended. That may be accurate, but the intended operation was changed by 68C, and the result is a safety defect that did not exist in the vehicle as sold.
NHTSA complaint 11765725On XXX I was driving to work at 0600 engine started to lose power (after a recall for same complaint @ 2 weeks prior) and fail, I was able to limp it to the Friendly Jeep Dealer in [XXX]. They have had my car for 31 days with no resolution and without providing a loaner or rental. I'm paying for a car I don't have and a rental Stellantis should be paying for. There is no plan for repair or timing of new engine replacement. I filed formal notice of dissatisfaction and intent to pursue all available legal remedies. NHTSA complaint 11765692After Jeep performed the 68C recall on my vehicle, in Electric mode, when driving at 55mph and trying to merge from a service road on to a highway the vehicle power is actually reduced and the vehicle slows down when you press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor trying to get up to highway traffic speed (65-70mph). In this state, the vehicle will actually lose speed dropping from 55mph to 52 mph and will not increase speed past 52mph even with the accelerator pedal pressed all the way to the floor. This is a super dangerous condition which caused me to nearly get rear-ended by the vehicle behind me on the acceleration ramp the first time it happened (which was the first time I drove the 4XE on a highway after the 68C recall was performed). This is a repeatable situation if you drive in electric mode and try to merge on to a highway and need to accelerate from a slower service road speed up to highway speed. The same also happens when driving on a highway in electric mode and need to pass someone, the vehicle actually slows down if you press the accelerator pedal causing a backup of vehicles behind you that are now trying to pass my vehicle. Before Jeep performed the 68C federal recall, you could accelerate from any lower speed up to 75mph in electric mode without any issue. Now, after the 68C recall, you actually lose speed when trying to accelerate if you're driving over 55mph and need to go faster. Jeep needs to remedy this extremely dangerous situation by restoring batter current limits to where they were before the 68C recall which has capped battery current limits at a dangerously low level.
NHTSA complaint 11765641Since the 68C recall work was done, it does not have the horsepower in electric mode that it used to and the gas motor of the hybrid kicks in much sooner than before. I was accelerating onto a freeway onramp when the ice turned on with high rpm, the motor backfired causing some sensor to trigger limp mode (60mph max). I had big rigs behind me going 75 braking hard. I will not let my wife drive it. It's not safe anymore.
NHTSA complaint 11765629Our wrangler was taken in to get the 68C recall done and once we finally got the vehicle back the electric driving mode had significantly less power to the point where the vehicle showed it was limited to 43-45kw of power output to the electric motors which resulted in a top speed of about 67-70mph until it completely failed and said "electric mode temporarily unavailable" on the dash. It then stumbles and restarts after a brief pause thag causes the vehicle to slow down to 55-58mph and then the vehicle can accelerate again only on gasoline power. This problem is easily repeatable and seems to be directly tied to a major software update limiting power output of this vehicle compare to the original power numbers of when we purchased this vehicle.
NHTSA complaint 11765613Since taking my Jeep to the dealership for the 68C recall, 12/22/2025, I have noticed a significant decrease in both power and electric performance. Before the recall, while driving in Hybrid mode with a fully charged battery, I could travel to a town approximately 20 miles away and remain in electric mode for most of the trip there and back. Since the recall was completed, the vehicle no longer stays in electric mode for very long. The internal combustion engine (ICE) now engages much sooner than it used to, and even a slight hill or gentle curve in the road will cause the ICE to turn on to maintain speed. In addition, the battery charge is being depleted much faster than before. I am no longer able to make it home before the battery is depleted, which never happened prior to the recall. I have also experienced a potentially dangerous issue on two occasions since the recall. When pulling out from a stop onto a roadway or through an intersection, the vehicle hesitated and would not move forward immediately when I pressed the accelerator. After a noticeable delay, the vehicle finally accelerated. This hesitation creates a safety concern, especially in traffic situations where other drivers are expecting the vehicle to move promptly. When I purchased the vehicle, it had excellent acceleration and strong performance in electric mode. It had the immediate responsiveness and "pick-up-and-go" power that attracted me to the vehicle in the first place. Since the recall, that performance has noticeably diminished, and the vehicle no longer feels as powerful or responsive as it did before. These issues did not occur prior to the 68C recall, and I am concerned that they may be related to the recall repair or the associated software update.
NHTSA complaint 11765601Having an on-going issue that happens nearly every time I operate the vehicle. Post "68C" recall, the jeep's software has nerfed the power of the vehicle. It doesn't accelerate well, will not maintain speed, loses electric power (and switches to ICE) very frequently even when there is plenty of charge left, and creates a dangerous situation when driving in traffic. Up-hill is a battle and even on flat roads the jeep will often not accelerate even when the pedal is pressed all the way to the ground. I have brought the vehicle in to the dealership multiple times, the last time after it lost all power while on the highway. A "Star" case was opened with Stellantis who responded, in writing, that the vehicle is operating as expected. This is not the same vehicle I purchased in 2023 and I am beyond angry and often times scared that something might happen where I cannot react fast enough or am in a situation where the loss of power will endanger myself or others. To be clear, this has been happening for MONTHS since the 68C recall work was performed.
NHTSA complaint 11765588My Jeep has no power. Starting off of a red light, stop sign, whenever it’s dead stop, I feel like I have to floor it in order for it to get up and going. I have a 4xe and this started happening after the first recall.
NHTSA complaint 11765585My vehicle was issued 4 safety recalls in the past 10 months of ownership. Since having the recalls serviced at local dealership my vehicle is performing with safety issues which include hesitation after starting, steering wheel vibration, vehicle wobbling, and loss of power. None of these experiences existed until after the recall services started at the dealership. These issues pose significant danger to all motorists because I drive daily on very busy local roads and highways.
NHTSA complaint 11765563Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall; the 60 most recent are listed.
