My 2025 Nissan Frontier SV with 4,300 miles is experiencing an ongoing drivetrain issue related to the driveshaft and transfer case. There is a defect related to these parts that results in the drivetrain binding causing the vehicle to have rough shifting and at times, lunge forward when braking to a stop due to the drivetrain binding and then releasing. This makes me weary to drive the vehicle because it may lunge forward and cause a collision or affect my ability to stop in a emergency. There is also an audible metal clunk shearing noise that accompanies this issue when the binding finally releases. My vehicle has not been at the dealership twice and there only solution is to grease the splines between the driveshaft and transfer case. This fix has shown to be a short lived temporary fix that last approximately 2,000 miles. The dealership admitted this is a widespread issue and that many owners are experiencing this issue and that Nissan does not have a fix for it. This has been an issue for over a year and there is tons of posts in forums and social media pages related to these newer model Nissan Frontiers having this issue. It seems Nissan is trying to ignore and downplay the issue claiming the only problem is a "clunk" noise that can be fixed with some grease.
NHTSA complaint 11766263The contact owns a 2025 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while reversing, the rear-view camera image was blank. The failure reoccurred twice. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V324000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
NHTSA complaint 11729869At around 9000 miles, the dealership had to replace the front rotors and brakes due to rotors cracking and warping. Now at 22,000 miles I’m having the same issue and I only do normal driving. There is obviously something wrong with the breaking system in the front of this vehicle. when I press the brakes, the steering wheel shakes.
NHTSA complaint 11726968Transmission down shifts hard sometimes. Notice more when coming off highway and making exits slowing down.
NHTSA complaint 11711724Dealer has verified that a gap around the windshield at the top of the passenger side in front of the sun visor is large enough to allow air into it as to create a whistling noise when reaching speeds of up to 70 mph. It is only a matter of time that water intrusion will occur & it is possible a windshield will lift & loosen & possibly may become airborne. I believe a recall should be issued immediately to fix the issue before a major incident occurs. Nissan is aware of the issue & is covering under warranty up to 36,000 miles only. For others who have extended warranties they are not covering the defect. With the amount of response on social media I would estimate that this issue affects well over 50% of Frontiers. It is a well known issue with the manufacturer yet they will not do a voluntary recall. They need help deciding to do the right thing!!
NHTSA complaint 11685807After deactivating the parking assistance system while towing a small trailer and backing up, the info/taiment screen blacked out. No back up camera available. The screen finally came back on after driving for 5 minutes. This vehicle has already been in for a previous recall on the same problem.
NHTSA complaint 11684370After owningthe vehicle for five months and around 7500 miles, I begin to notice my brake pedal pulsing when I press hard and as time went on, I started feeling vibration in the vehicle and the front wheel. It felt as if the front brake rotors warped. this should not happen. The vehicle was driven normally no overheating or hard use of the brakes.
NHTSA complaint 11657973Vehicle vibrates at highway speeds starting at 65-70 mph and above. The vibration can be felt thought the steering wheel, after long periods of driving it leads to numb hands. The continuous vibration will cause premature damage to other systems of the vehicle (drive-train and fluid leaks).
NHTSA complaint 11653400Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall.
