Within seconds, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking briefly applied the brakes, jolting the vehicle slightly but not bringing it to a complete stop. Afterward, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the Adaptive Cruise Control radar sensor. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.
