NHTSA complaint 11767534The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH and overtaking a vehicle, the engine made loud popping and knocking sounds, and the vehicle experienced reduced power. The contact exited the interstate and stopped at a gas station, where oil was added to the engine. The contact resumed driving after the vehicle had cooled down; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was later taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the lifters had collapsed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be disassembled for a full diagnostic test. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Action Number: EA25007 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
NHTSA complaint 11767514The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle was rumbling and shaking abnormally. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where a diagnostic test failed to retrieve a fault code. The contact agreed to pay an additional fee to have the transmission pan lowered to see what had caused the failure. The mechanic discovered metal shavings inside the transmission pan. The dealer stated that the transmission pan could be cleaned and reinstalled; however, the dealer refused to provide a warranty for the repair or guarantee that it would fix the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
NHTSA complaint 11767482vehicle has been to the dealership many times for issues with the engine and burning oil, we have brought it in to chevy wallace dealer for all this and have paperwork for all this, however torque convertor has been replaced 2x in one year due to faulty parts. the dealeership finally told us that the afm lifters cause the engine to go and needed a engine replacement. my wife has been so upset over this matter because she loved the truck. all this has been inspected by dealer so many times and we kept geting the run around. we had multiple check engine lights and misfire codes. then the last straw was when the engine had a horrible knocking noise which we have on video.now that she traded the truck in because dealer said it was not covered under warranty because it lapsed by 1 month we had to get a different vheicle due to knowbody helping us and now were screwed with a insane payment. we have been dealing with this for a few years and no help from chevy even with a extended warranty that covered it all. i am not asking for the world but chevy has to be responible for something. my wife really needs help with this we lost a damn nice truck and want some kind of compinsation for it
NHTSA complaint 11766305Out of specs crankshaft machining, excessive journaling chamfering & debri in the oil galleries have caused rod bearing failure resulting in total engine seizure. This is consistent with the NHTSA 25V-274 recall, of which identifies the 6.2L V8-L87 engine as defective, resulting in 12 recorded accidents. However, this recall does not cover the 2019 model year.
NHTSA complaint 11766186The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while hauling a camper and driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a rod bearing failure due to a possible collapse lifter. The local dealer was contacted. Upon further investigation, the contact associated the failure with GM Service Bulletins: 19-NA-218 and PIP5776C with contributing factors to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
NHTSA complaint 11766147My head, my transmission in my Silverado 1500 6 speed has had rough shifting since I bought it had 29,000 miles on it. It also has been looked at for the rough and they said it was normal now at 100,000 miles by train ships out of gear while driving and coming to an idle at random spots, took it into a train shop Westland transmission. They said I need all new transmission which I think this should've been fixed a long time ago with the rough shifting the recall and lawsuit needs to add the six speed trans to the eight speed intense speed that GM is officially getting served on.
NHTSA complaint 11765482The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the low engine oil warning light illuminated. A month later, while driving 60 MPH, the transmission malfunctioned between 4th and 5th gear, either missing shifts or shifting erratically, accompanied by a severe vibration. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where technicians discovered a leaking engine oil cooling line while preparing to repair the transmission. The dealer confirmed the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, the contact was informed that the VIN was excluded from Customer Satisfaction Program: N192220080.
NHTSA complaint 11764733V8Component Affected: Electrical System / Power Train (Transmission) / Engine Cooling & WiringDescription of the Safety Defect and Incident:While operating the vehicle, severe electrical degradation occurred due to a catastrophic failure of the factory body-to-chassis grounding system. Upon professional inspection by a certified mechanic, it was discovered that the primary ground wires had suffered extreme thermal degradation, with the mechanic stating that the wiring components "almost melted in his hands" upon physical touch.Because the vehicle's manufacturing-defective ground strap severely corroded and failed, the high-amperage electrical current redirected itself along an unintended path of least resistance: directly through the transmission shifting cables and internal wiring harnesses. This extreme electrical bypass caused extensive thermal damage, melted critical electrical insulation, and permanently fried the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and internal transmission components, causing total mechanical failure. Why this is a Critical Safety Hazard:Fire & Thermal Risk: The failure created an active thermal event under the hood. Electrical current reaching temperatures high enough to melt heavy-duty wiring harnesses poses an immediate vehicle fire risk while operating or parked.Sudden Loss of Propulsion: The electrical short directly compromises transmission communication, risking an uncommanded shift into neutral or total loss of motive power while driving at highway speeds, creating a severe crash hazard.Manufacturer Action / Request for Investigation:General Motors recently issued Customer Satisfaction Program #N252515590 specifically to address this exact "body-to-chassis ground strap corrosion" defect on 2019–2024 Silverados.
NHTSA complaint 11764624Came off the parkway and came to a stop at a stop sign. As I attempted to accelerate forward the truck shuttered violently, did not move forward and then slammed into gear. As it slammed into gear it jerked forward. The force of the jerk pushed me back in the seat and caused the steering wheel to turn. About 100 yards later I came to a stop in traffic. As I attempted to accelerate the same incident occurred again. After the second incident anytime I same to a stop and attempted to accelerate forward the shutter was no longer present but the truck would not move at first and would then slam into gear and jerk violently. This would occur in drive and reverse. I brought it to the dealership and they diagnosed that it needed a transmission. The service writer even told me it bucked so hard while the technician was moving it that it almost put him through the steering wheel. The truck is currently having the transmission replaced at Greenbrook GMC. Estimated repair cost is $9400 plus taxes and fees. Can provide invoice and bill once repair is completed.
NHTSA complaint 11763239While Driving I feel shaking while accelerating between 25-40 mph, and its like I'm driving over rumble strips, plus when stopped and start to accelerate it hesitates and then surges forward.
NHTSA complaint 11763112The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced various intermittent electrical failures while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that the power locks and windows either failed to operate as needed or independently operated while driving. The vehicle was inspected by a friend, and a potential issue with the ground fault cable was found. The friend recommended that a dealer inspect the vehicle. The contact stated that the instrument panel intermittently displayed the messages, "Steering Column Lock Needs Service", "Check Engine", and other unknown messages. Additionally, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard while attempting to start the vehicle but resumed normal operation after the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but has not yet been diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
NHTSA complaint 11761890Transmission entered limp mode when decelerating at highway speed. Shutter shift, rapid rpm increase. First shift in the morning is a hard shift with loss of power.
NHTSA complaint 11761756My truck lost steering as I was trying to pull into a parking lot. It started as a momentary jerking of the steering wheel then total loss of steering. The ABS error and Trailer Braking failure warning also appeared. After 4 to 5 restarts of the truck the steering came back. If this was to happen at high speed it would have been very bad. I feel this is definetly a safety issue..
NHTSA complaint 11761708WHEN I UNLOCKED THE DOOR AND ENTERED THE TRUCK GAS STARTED LEAKING / pouring from the top of the fuel tank. ON THE GROUND BEFORE I STARTED THE MOTOR. IF I HAD DRIVEN THE TRUCK VERY POSIBLE IT COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. ITS A 2019 WITH 61598 MILES. I FOUND A FUEL PUMP RECALL N192283991 SAID FOR CERTAIN 2019-2020 SILVERADO MODELS IT APPEARS I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS HAVE NOT CHECKED WITH A DEALER YET. TRUCK WILL HAVE TO BE TOWED.
NHTSA complaint 117616516.2 motor failed in cylinder number 2
NHTSA complaint 11761135The contact's husband owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated but disappeared the following day. The contact stated that approximately four days later, after refueling the vehicle, while stopped at a red light and attempting to make a right turn, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was pushed to the side of the road and towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump module needed to be replaced. The contact stated that DTC: P129F was retrieved. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,600.
NHTSA complaint 11760994My truck suddenly stopped, received a message on the dashboard that said transmission hot. Idle engine. I was unable to remove my key. Minutes later it started up like nothing.
NHTSA complaint 11760972The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 6 MPH, the rear wheels unexpectedly seized, requiring the driver to pull over and turn off the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle resumed normal operation after restarting the following day. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated, and no diagnostic trouble codes were retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.
NHTSA complaint 11760911The company had a complimentary repair of the known issue of bad oil cooler lines. It oblast short period. I now own the vehicle and it still has leaking oil cooler lines why should it not be replaced by GM since the lines leaking or coming apart and possibly blowing up and engine is a known problem. Would like gm to replace it under the program they already had offered
