Brakes failed going into busy intersection with coming traffic. It can be available for inspection. Applied the brakes to stop at stop sign. Truck didn’t slow down - brakes went hard and my truck kept going. Escaped collision of oncoming vehicles going 55mph. Turned the truck a sharp left landing in first lane of traffic and quickly put into reverse. Going into the dealership Monday morning to have it checked. Happed too fast to notice any warning lamps etc..
NHTSA complaint 11767294The specific cause has not been identified. On XXX6, my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom LT Trail Boss unexpectedly rolled away while parked and unoccupied, striking another parked vehicle. The truck remains at Modern Chevrolet and is available for inspection. GM/ESIS opened a safety and product liability investigation and is arranging inspection/data retrieval. I parked at Walmart in [XXX], shut the truck off, exited, locked it, and walked away. Shortly afterward, I heard a sound resembling the key-fob-left-inside warning. My key fob was in my pocket, so I returned and saw the truck moving with no driver. Another person and I tried to stop it. I entered through the driver’s door and pressed Start/Stop several times, but it would not start while moving. It continued moving and struck another parked vehicle. Vehicle dropped off on XXX and Modern Chevrolet could not reproduce the incident or identify the cause. The service advisor stated it “came out of gear but don’t know why” and escalated it to GM. GM/ESIS plans to retrieve SDM/airbag data, and I requested any Tech II/MDI scan data. No warning lights, messages, or chimes were observed during the incident. I did not see/hear “SHIFT TO PARK,” and I was able to lock the truck with the key fob outside. In a later controlled test, I left the truck in Drive and shut it off. It displayed “SHIFT TO PARK” and sounded a warning chime. Opening the driver’s door also produced a key-fob-left-inside-type alert, which did not occur on XXX. The truck did not automatically shift to Park or engage the electronic parking brake and slight movement was felt during the test. No further testing occurred by me after XXX. I have also experienced infotainment freezing after software updates and random electronic parking brake application when shutting off, and remains engaged after restart. The truck received an oil change/tire rotation at Modern Chevrolet on XXX. Cause still remains UNKNOWN. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11767268I was traveling at 65 mph when my truck engine shut off, put itself in neutral, asked me to push the start button. And then the screen went black. Would not go into neutral for a tow. Taken to dealer where I purchased it from. Was told that the motor is seized.
NHTSA complaint 11766797The engine started making a ticking noise and getting a little louder while driving to dealer where I had purchased the veichle and had it serviced as called for . They had me leave to check it out , they called me 2 hrs later and said it would need a new engine and it had a spun crankshaft bearing and would be 3 weeks to get the new engine . They said my warranty would cover the billing . I’m presently waiting to hear from them . They told me that the new engine would have a warranty but minus the 31615 miles that my odometer reads now ?

NHTSA complaint 11761507The engine has been using atleast 1 quart of oil every 2000 miles. This is put my maintenance cost way above the estimated maintenance cost projected by the manufacturer This oil usage is also causing premature engine wear as it's a quart low every 2000 miles. Dealer responses was this is normal for this engine. I went back and forth with the about estimated maintenance cost and ofcourse there responses was it estimated, well that's a very inaccurate estimate or willful lie. Idk just not happy about it.

NHTSA complaint 11760366There have been multiple instances of engine ticking upon start up. I have 4 videos with sound. I can provide a link if necessary to dropbox or google drive if necessary since there is no way to upload them to this site. This has been reported by GM 6.2L owners as being a precursor to engine failure. I have not had the sound confirmed by a dealer or service center. The vehicle has not been inspected. There have been no warning lamps.

The contact attempted to restart the vehicle remotely, but the vehicle shut off again. The contact then attempted to start the vehicle manually, but the vehicle failed to start. NHTSA complaint 11759809The engine in my truck had a catastrophic failure (6.2 litre), same as the thousands with the same problem / failure. It had to be towed to the dealership where it underwent a complete engine replacement... it had 8,906 miles on it at the time of the engine failure. It died after making horrendous and loud noise, I was able to coast for a short distance but it came to a stop in the middle of a residential street and had to be towed to a safe location until the dealership could pick it up and tow it to their facility for diagnostics and repairs. I have the invoice with detailed information of the repairs and parts used.
NHTSA complaint 11759148Engine crank bearings failed at only 16,310 miles. Engine replaced with a new one due severe internal damage.
NHTSA complaint 11758825Component Affected: Visibility: Interior Trim / Entertainment Center Bezel Glare Description of Safety Hazard:The interior styling of the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado RST contains a design flaw involving the polished chrome trim strip located directly below the main central entertainment center/infotainment screen. Because of the angle of this specific trim piece relative to the driver's seating position, direct sunlight hits this lower screen border and reflects a concentrated, blinding glare directly into the driver’s eyes. This causes immediate, severe visual impairment and a temporary loss of forward visibility while driving. This distraction and blindness prevent the driver from safely observing the road and traffic, creating an imminent crash hazard. The manufacturer has failed to provide a non-reflective, matte finish for this specific entertainment center trim to prevent this hazard.
NHTSA complaint 11758669After having the original '25 6.2L GM L87 engine experience crankshaft bearing failure at approx. 5,700 mi, (previously reported to the NHTSA), the (brand new) replacement engine failed approx. 14,000 mi. later for the exact same reason, crankshaft bearing failure. In both incidents, the failure came 100% without warning, and the transmission LOCKED itself into park, leaving the vehicle and myself dangerously stranded in the middle of the highway; it had to be dragged on and off of the flat-bed tow truck both times.
NHTSA complaint 11758644On Thursday, July 9, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., I was driving my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Duramax on Highway 40 while towing a properly connected trailer. The Multi-Flex tailgate had been fully closed and latched before I began my trip and had not been opened at any point prior to the incident. While traveling on the highway, a California Highway Patrol officer pulled alongside my vehicle and alerted me that my tailgate was down and bouncing on the trailer I was towing. I immediately pulled over to the shoulder and observed that the entire Multi-Flex tailgate had unexpectedly unlatched and was resting on the trailer. I closed and latched the tailgate, which appeared to operate normally, and continued to my destination. At no time before or during the incident did the vehicle display a "Tailgate Open" warning or any other warning message on the instrument cluster. The unexpected opening of the tailgate caused it to strike the trailer, resulting in damage to the Multi-Flex tailgate, the rear bumper, and the trailer. The vehicle has approximately 11,000 miles, was purchased new, and has not been modified. I have opened a case with General Motors, and the vehicle is scheduled to be inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership.
NHTSA complaint 11750324The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rear liftgate independently opened while there was cargo loaded inside the bed of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the garage, after inspecting the vehicle the rear liftgate had independently opened, causing damages to the garage door. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.
