When putting the gear shift into park there is a constant SHIFT TO PARK message that plays even when shifted to park and forces the car to stay in accessory mode. This drains the battery and does not allow car to shut down fully. This is a known issue with this make and model of vehicle and GM refuses to make any changes or recall any vehicles. I will have to pay out of pocket for this repair with only 29,000 miles on the vehicle.
NHTSA complaint 11766707When entering onto the freeway, I accelerated to the speed of the freeway traffic and the turbo system failed and the message was ENGINE POWER REDUCED and the check engine light came on. During the time of the turbo failure, I was almost hit by another vehicle that had to suddenly brake to avoid hitting me. This turbo failure happens frequently.
NHTSA complaint 11765413The shifter doesn't recognize when it is shifted into park. Shift to park keeps flashing on dash.
NHTSA complaint 11760171When I shut off the engine, it says “Shift to park” and the car will not turn off. To get it to turn off, I have to turn the car back on (usually multiple times), until it recognizes that it IS in park.
NHTSA complaint 11756073I was driving down the highway when the 3 bolts holding the exhaust under the car broke off. My exhaust was dragging down the highway until I could safely get pulled over. The bolts are welded in of course so you can’t just put new bolts in you have to replace the whole catalytic converter, which is a pain to do unless you take it to the dealer and pay $2000.
NHTSA complaint 11754629Shifter does not recognize its in park, from what I read this affects thousands. Why am I having to sit in my car for minutes at a time? is Chevy not required to handle the fixing of that switch. What a subpar design team they have. I just had to cough up over $800 to fix rusting because of shit wheel design that doesn't protect those components. Absolutely unacceptable to have consumers not only buy a car but then not issue a recall over the switch just inside the console I guess they want to con thousands to pay for a new shifter?
NHTSA complaint 11753155The car showed an error message saying shift to park when trying to turn the car off. The car was in park and showed in park on the dashboard & shifter but the error message still said it wasn’t in park. While this error is showing it will not allow the car to shut off or lock doors. I have a little over 19k miles on this car and should not have this issue. After researching this has been a know issue with their vehicles for years and it still has not been addressed.
NHTSA complaint 11751636purchased a brand new vehicle in 2022 Since purchase I have had multiple issues with said vehicle for which I will list. I understand vehicles will and can have issues but there is no excuse for all the problems I have had to deal with a new vehicle. A. Muffler has fallen off 3 times and replaced all 3 times During the leakage part of why it was not fully disconnected every time I was driving the car I was inhaling the fumes because the brake was under the seat of the car driver side B. Emergency Blinkers on dashboard had to be replaced because they overheated and melted C. The vehicle has 13,000 miles And now I am getting error messages that say the car needs to be put in park and won’t shut off and just keeps having a buzzard ring when the car is actually in park
NHTSA complaint 11751446The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and became stuck. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic to be repaired; however, the failure persisted. The dealer was contacted and informed that the brake pedal, model cylinder, and booster needed to be replaced; however, parts were not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
NHTSA complaint 11750121All 3 bolts that connect my tailpipe underneath my car failed. This caused the tailpipe to disconnect from the car, meaning I was pushing the pipe as I drove. Luckily it failed when I was at an intersection, and I heard the noise. I was able to drive slowly into a parking lot and disconnect the exhaust for a repair. However, if I had been traveling down a highway when it occurred the pipe surely would've hit a bump and then jammed the rest of the exhaust back up into the under carriage of the vehicle and perhaps causing an accident. I did email the dealership I purchased the vehicle from, but they were unaware of an issues on the vehicle. However, from searching online, there are other 2022 Trailblazer owners experiencing the same issue. There were no warning lights before during or after.
NHTSA complaint 11749337Shift to park warning/beeping when already in park. Happening multiple times and different days
NHTSA complaint 11748701Vehicle stalled and shut off while driving in moving traffic on multiple occasions, resulting in sudden loss of power steering and brake assist — a significant safety hazard. Battery failed at 32,860 miles (September 2025) with all low voltage codes. Battery replaced by dealer. Vehicle continued to exhibit stalling, no-start, and Battery Saver Active warnings. Dealer has been unable to resolve the recurring issue across three visits (RO 510659, RO 518708, RO 523715) at Chevrolet of Culver City, Culver City CA. Dealer is now attributing the fault to contaminated fuel without providing lab evidence. Active GM Customer Care case 1-02414837. Powertrain warranty active
NHTSA complaint 11746241When putting the vehicle in park and turning off, a warning message will appear that states "Shift to Park" and initially a nudge of the gear shift would clear the message, after one week, a simple nudge does not clear the message. The vehicle will not turn off and continues to beep, you have to put vehicle in gear (D or R) move a few feet, return to P, press very firmly on the brake and press the ignition button, this may or may not clear the message and it could take a few attempts of these steps to clear.
NHTSA complaint 11744262The two components that failed were the water pump and the coolant control valve which caused the engine to overheat, resulting in me having to pull over along the side of a busy highway putting me at risk for injury while the vehicle cooled down. It would be available for inspection upon request. This was dangerous mostly to myself due to having to pull over on the side of a busy highway and wait until the vehicle could be somewhat ok to be driven the rest of the way home. I had to drive very slowly home with my hazards on at a very low speed. Vehicle was brought to a nearby Chevy dealership the following morning. They had the vehicle for two days and claimed they could not get the problem to present itself, however, within five minutes of me driving it off the lot it overheated resulting in having to pull over again on a busy highway. An independent service center had the vehicle and diagnosed it initially as an intermittently failing water pump. This repair did not resolve the issue 100% as the vehicle began to slowly overheat again within 18 minutes of highway speed driving. Car was towed back to repair shop from my place of employment. They were able to get it to present the issue and diagnosed it as the coolant control valve. This has so far appeared to resolve the overheating issue. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance rep/others. The only warning that came up was on the info screen above the steering column advising me the engine was overheating and was in idle. Immediately upon seeing this I pulled over to prevent any damage. Temp gauge was all the way in the red. Fan was blowing hard. This has never happened previously and there were no other warning lights of any kind on the dash to indicate an issue. This incident happened on 6/2. Please be advised, this vehicle has since been repaired and has ran me $2300 as it is out of warranty.
NHTSA complaint 11744109I used the jack for the first time of buying the vehicle new. I jacked the vehicle up to put the spare on and the scissor jack folded up and the car dropped. So I looked up if there was a recall on it and there isn't but there is on other vehicles. Note: the car was on level hard surface ground and I placed the jack in the correct location.
NHTSA complaint 11743892I am having issues with putting car in park. Keeps showing not in park and will not shut off until I yank on handle. Getting worse & taking so long. Took to dealership and they said probably the harness and would cost $400 to $600 to fix. My research shows they have had this issue since 2018!! Only recall I could find was in Ohio. I feel angry they still keep using a defective part and expect us to pay to fix. I am older and on fixed income & don't have the money. Also why should I when it's their ongoing issue. I'm scared of this not letting me shut off car till I run out of gas!!
NHTSA complaint 11743181When car is shifted to park it doesn't let the car turn off. There is a message to shift the car to park when it is in park
NHTSA complaint 11742039For approximately a year, my vehicle sporadically gives a message when I shut it off staying it is not in park. It can take up to 5 minutes turning it back on, shifting through all gears, and turning it back off before it registers that it is in park.
NHTSA complaint 11739793I keep receiving a “shift to park,” message after putting the car in park and shutting it off.
NHTSA complaint 11738891Shift to park error randomly pops up.
