I am reporting what I believe may be a safety defect involving my 2023 Honda Hybrid. I owned the vehicle for less than three years and kept up with all recommended maintenance. During my ownership, I repeatedly experienced sudden tire pressure warnings and rapid drops in tire pressure. Because I was concerned, I took my vehicle to a Honda dealership approximately four to five weekends in a row to have the tires inspected. Each time I was told that everything appeared to be normal and no problem could be identified. In March 2026, while driving on the freeway to school, the tire pressure suddenly dropped again. I then heard a very loud popping noise and initially believed that my tire had blown out. Immediately afterward, I lost control of the vehicle and crashed, and my car was declared a total loss. After the crash, I observed that the wheel had turned inward. I was later told by the responding police officers that the wheel had turned inward rather than the tire simply blowing out. I decided to report this because I have learned of other people with the same model who described similar problems involving sudden tire pressure loss or repeated tire warnings despite being told by dealerships that nothing was wrong. While I cannot verify the cause of those incidents, the similarities make me concerned that there could be an underlying safety issue affecting other vehicles. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether there may be a defect involving the tires, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), suspension, steering, or another related component. I am willing to provide any additional information requested. Also I don't know if this was the correct channel to go through, I have never reported something like this before. I also send Honda a longer email detailing everything, so I hope they are aware of this issue. Please contact me if you have more questions, I want to help any way I can. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11752941From the beginning of my lease, the vehicle experienced repeated malfunctions of its safety and proximity sensor systems, including warning alerts and sensor-related failures. The vehicle was taken multiple times to an authorized Honda dealership for diagnosis and repair. Despite these repeated service visits, the safety sensor issues were never properly repaired or resolved. I later discovered that the vehicle was subject to an active safety recall, which was never disclosed to me, even though the vehicle was serviced at the dealership on multiple occasions. Subsequently, the vehicle was involved in an accident that resulted in a total loss. Based on the unresolved sensor failures and the undisclosed recall, I believe these safety defects may have contributed to the accident. This complaint is submitted to report a serious safety concern and to request that NHTSA investigate whether similar vehicles may present a broader safety risk.
NHTSA complaint 11708705Left a store on a frontage rd, drove about 1/2 mile , car just breaking out of no where, stoped in the middle of the road, the dash stated breaking malfunction see Dealer immidentaly car died, I restatred it , the dash still stated the same , the picture of the car had back lights flashing and the red Break sign was on , Took it to the nearest dealer and when they started it the warning system had erased. They inspected it, told me that they could not find anything wrong. I just leased it 2wks ago and only have driven it 3 times , not even a hundred miles and this happens. There were no warning signs of any kind . If I would have been approaching the freeway I could have been killed.

The contact stated that the sunroof had shattered. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.

NHTSA complaint 11683263Subject: Complaint Regarding Steering Noise Issue on 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid Dear Honda Customer Service, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the steering issue on my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid, purchased in June 2023. •In July 2024, when my vehicle had around 29,540 miles, I first reported a steering noise issue to the dealership. At that time, the dealer only applied lubrication, which did not resolve the root cause. •In July 2025, when the mileage was around 60,440 miles, the same steering noise reappeared. The dealership replaced the right inner tie rod and performed an alignment, but the noise persisted. Later, they concluded that the steering rack would eventually need replacement. •I also noticed that this issue only occurs in extremely hot weather (high summer temperatures around 90°F). Once the temperature drops to around 70–80°F, the noise disappears completely. Because of this seasonal nature, the problem is very hard to reproduce during normal conditions, and it was not fully diagnosed while the car was still under warranty. Now, Honda has denied goodwill repair, stating that the vehicle has exceeded 60,000 miles. However, I strongly believe this problem started during the warranty period (July 2024) and was not properly resolved by the dealer, despite multiple visits. The issue is clearly related to a defect that only appears in extreme temperatures, which is beyond my control as a customer. This is extremely disappointing, as I have always trusted Honda’s reputation for quality and reliability. A steering problem is a serious safety concern, and denying repair based solely on mileage—when the defect clearly originated under warranty—feels unfair and unprofessional. I am requesting that Honda reconsider this case and provide goodwill repair coverage for the steering rack replacement. If this matter is not addressed, I will have no choice but to escalate my complaint to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA),
NHTSA complaint 11682348Ride quality is so bad and uncomfortable i am struggling to drive it straight and makes me so tired been in service 3 times for this issue and everyone says they can replicate the issue. Even bought brand new tires and doing the same
NHTSA complaint 11681173Component/System that failed or malfunctioned: Power Train: automatic transmission internal (CVT). The vehicle stops responding to acceleration, remains static while the engine continues at high revolutions, without generating forward movement. The component is available for inspection upon request. How safety was put at risk: The incident occurred while driving on the highway. By losing acceleration power and not being able to maintain the required speed according to traffic laws, I was at risk of being struck by other vehicles traveling at normal highway speed. This situation posed an immediate danger to both myself and other drivers. Problem reproduction/confirmation: The dealership inspected the vehicle and informed me that, at this time, there is no safety bulletin related to my unit. Inspection by third parties: I have scheduled an appointment with the dealership for September 5, 2025, where a more detailed evaluation of the problem is expected to be performed. Warning signs or prior symptoms: When the failure occurs, several warning lights illuminate on the dashboard and then turn off. Timeline / first occurrence: The failure occurred on August 14, 2025, at 9,215 miles. Related campaign reference: There is an existing NHTSA recall campaign for the same vehicle model: NHTSA Campaign ID: 23V588000
NHTSA complaint 11681081Vehicle Power Loss and System Malfunctions I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a recurring and potentially dangerous issue with my vehicle, 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid. Twice while driving, the vehicle suddenly shut down on the freeway and completely lost power. In both cases, I was fortunately able to steer the car to the shoulder of the road, but this posed a serious safety risk. During these incidents, multiple system error messages appeared on the dashboard, including alerts related to braking, lane departure, and other critical functions. Alarmingly, this same issue has also occurred while the vehicle was parked in my garage. Each time, the only way to temporarily resolve the issue has been to shut off the vehicle and restart it. Upon restarting, the only remaining warning is related to the braking system, along with a prompt to bring the car to the dealership. If the vehicle is restarted again, all error messages disappear. I have contacted my dealership after each occurrence and brought the vehicle in for inspection. My car is currently at the dealership, and I am awaiting information on the cause of the problem and the proposed resolution. After the first time it happened, I have taken video/pictures of the errors and supplied same to the dealership. I consider this a serious safety concern—not only for myself but also for any passengers and other drivers on the road. Quite honestly, I am now afraid to drive the car, knowing that it could unexpectedly shut down at any moment without warning.
NHTSA complaint 11670239I bought a Honda Accord Hybrid on June 15, 2023. The steering wheel made a noise in 2024. I repaired it once, but the problem of the steering wheel making a noise reappeared in June this year 2025. The steering wheel problem has always existed.
NHTSA complaint 11670053Drivers seat is loose. Dealership agreed seat is loose but other new cars at dealership have loose seats too so they decided it is expected. Seat isn't loose when car is off and seat is fully back. But when you start car and seat moves forward, the seat clicks back and forth when you drive when speeding up or slowing down. It seems there is play or something loose. I've had other hondas years ago and none of my cars, including my honda pilot do this. Dealership said i should wait till someone reports it and recall because if they swap out the seat they say it will have the same problem. this problem has been with the car since i bought it new. I've reported 2x to the dealership and they said there isn't anything they can do.
NHTSA complaint 11669701Lost all power and the warning light came on concerning brake system failure. The car came to a complete stop and would not accellerate, so had to shut down the system and restart in the middle of the road and luckily was able to drive home with only a brake light illuminated. There is definitely something wrong with the electrical braking system

NHTSA complaint 11666453The 12" infotainment screen flickers and turns off. The screen is most unresponsive. The screen never works with the headlights on. The screen flashes at night causing safety issues. Backup camera doesn't work. Multiple complaints found on redit regarding the same issue. I took to the dealer and they said I needed a replacement screen and it would cost $1200+. This is a practically new car.
NHTSA complaint 11663271I was driving on the highway yesterday when all of a sudden several errors flashed on my dashboard, and my gas pedal stopped working. When I pulled over, I noticed an error code that read: "Brake System Problem. Brake performance may be reduced". Not only did I lose all acceleration control, but the error codes tell me there are brake issues. After researching online it seems like many others have experienced this issue and some people found the issue was caused by a faulty Ignition Control Module.
NHTSA complaint 11663058On 5/8/25 when the light turned green at the stop light, my car shut down while the gear was on drive. It immediately came back on with the dashboard showing warnings for the (TPMS), brakes system, stability system, among others. I accelerated while on drive but the car did not move forward. I turned the flashers on. I had cars behind me honking and going around me. I put the shifter in Park. A car behind almost rear ended me. I tried a second time to go by shifting the gear to Drive but I had no luck. I put it back in Park and turned it off. I turned it back on and the dashboard seemed fine, the car accelerated when I shifted it to Drive. This is the second time that the same car shut down on me, the first time was over a year ago when the car was in motion at around 40 mph, I was able to pull over. The first time the dealer replaced a part and told me the problem was fixed. This time around the advisor said there's nothing they can do because they can't replicate the problem. It's very concerning because it can happen at any time anywhere at any speed.
NHTSA complaint 11660177Driving routine commute of 20 miles at Highway speeds on a clear weekday. The vehicle experienced ALL warning lights on dash and immediately went into limp mode. No power applied to the wheels when pressing the power pedal. Brought vehicle to the side of the road and powered off. Waited 30 secs to a minute and pressed Power and the only remaining error of "Brake System Problem" stayed up on the Driver display. Dropped vehicle off at the dealer, 3 miles from my job, to have them evaluate. After half a day the dealer stated "no problem found", "intermittent error". Now there is a known problem with late Honda vehicles with water intrusion into the tail lights and that in turn causes a short in the Braking system. I have noticed condensation in the tail light (Drivers side) but only a very small amount. Dealer stated they checked both tail lights and found no cracks or condensation. In my opinion my car falls into this category but dealer would not agree to a replacement assembly UNLESS they saw condensation in the tail lamp unit.
NHTSA complaint 11657879The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact veered to the left and struck a cement pole on the front driver side, where the vehicle came to a stop upon impact. The cement pole did not show signs of damage after the impact. The contact then parked the vehicle at the scene. No warning lights illuminated; however, the message “Initializing Driving” was displayed. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer; however, the dealer declined to repair the vehicle because the vehicle was out of warranty. The driver’s and passenger’s side air bags did not deploy. A Police report was not filed. There were no injuries sustained; however, the contact had a tight feeling in the right shoulder. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The Insurance company was contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a claim was submitted. The failure mileage was 45,606.
NHTSA complaint 116555442023 honda accord sport Steering sticking when turning causing the vehicle to over correct. Noted this at honda service center during 1st oil change and subsequent visits. Nothing ever found. Now it makes a clicking noise. Took to service center and they think it's the steering rack. Have to take it back during a weekday for confirmation. Now I'm slightly outside the warranty for parts. Service center says it could cost $4,000 to fix. No lights indicating an issue. Why hasn't Honda issued a recall on the steering rack for 2023 honda accord hybrid like they did with other models having the same issue. Very very frustrating...
NHTSA complaint 11654243While driving 2023 Honda Accord at normal speed on rural road, the vehicle began to brake on it's own and driver could not over-ride this. Alarms for multiple failures showed on the dashboard. Car was stopped and would not move. Car was turned off then restarted. Dashboard alarms went away, only small information light for brake malfunction remained. Driver began to drive and tested brakes, all acted normally. Car was brought to Honda dealership. Dealership investigated and consulted with Honda engineers. They could not find a cause of the error, so nothing was fixed on the vehicle. Honda charged owner $150 to tell them nothing was wrong, even though car had taken control of brakes and stopped itself.
NHTSA complaint 11653906Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall.
