The contact owns a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at speeds above 50 MPH, the vehicle hesitated and lost automotive power. The check engine warning light was flashing. After restarting the vehicle, the failure was self-corrected. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that there was engine coolant inside the cylinders. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 288,000.
NHTSA complaint 11731544On second week of February, 2026, I was driving my 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid from Elkridge, Maryland to North Beach, the car lost power with a flickering Check Engine Light on. I managed to drive between 25-30 MPH on 55 MPH Highway to my local Honda dealership. The diagnosed the lost power to HEAD GASKET failure. I did some research and found that NHTSA has issued a part collection on Head Gasket Failure on 2018-2022 Honda Accord Hybrid. The NHTSA ID: MC-11009200. I paid over $5,000 to replace the Head Gasket. I think these model years should be recalled.
NHTSA complaint 11729843My car had a head gasket failure. I lost power and control of the vehicle. Mistlin Honda in Modesto confirmed it was a head gasket failure. No, all warning lamps came on at the sametime.
NHTSA complaint 11713297Touch screen on console has lots of ghost-touches in warm weather operating conditions. The audio screen keeps switching from FM to USB MP3 player, and goes into settings or prompts for factory reset while driving, and without touching it. Also, Android AutoPlay navigation keeps jumping around on the map, and giving excessive warnings for next turn, without touching it. This is an EXTREME driver distraction, esp. while trying to use navigation. Local dealer was not able to reproduce in their shop on a cool day. They told me they had 12 other complaints of this issue, and no fix available from Honda, as of Oct. 2025.
NHTSA complaint 11691443The infotainment system in my 2022 Honda Accord poses a clear safety risk. After 2.5 years of ownership, it consistently glitches while using Apple CarPlay: the screen rapidly and uncontrollably clicks through apps, exits navigation or changes the windows within navigation, and even turns the radio on and off on its own. In this situation, which now occurs daily, the screen freezes and is unresponsive. I have to repetitively press the screen until it responds, which can take minutes. This forces my attention away from the road, particularly as I'm trying to navigate. It is distracting, frustrating, and dangerous. And -- this issue is not isolated to my Accord. Postings in online forums commonly point to this issue with the 2022 Accord. This has not been inspected by the manufacturer and it has not been confirmed by a dealer. However, I have a recording of the screen glitching and would be more than happy to share. Thank you for your time and consideration. A car’s main screen seizing control while driving is more than frustrating — it turns vital navigation into distraction and is a serious safety concern that Honda must resolve.
NHTSA complaint 11689863The infotainment system is ghosting. It changes and blanks out the screen randomly or when a phone call is received. It also will constantly beep when changing or shutting off the radio. This has been a known issue for Honda since 2017 and affects 2017-2023 Accords and Pilots. The dealer confirmed the issue through diagnostics but said Honda has no plans at this time to solve the problem. Also, the iPhone charger has never worked in the car and the Service Department at Serra Honda in O'Fallon, Illinois said there are no plans for Honda to fix the problem. These issues need to be corrected and the owners financially compensated for features that do not work and were sold to consumers knowingly by the manufacturer.
NHTSA complaint 116871751. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The infotainment touchscreen is malfunctioning. It registers false inputs “ghost touches” without any user interaction. Yes, the vehicle and affected screen are available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The ghost touches cause the screen to randomly change menus, activate or deactivate features, and make it difficult to use navigation, audio, and android auto with maps. This creates distraction while driving, as I have to focus on regaining control of the screen instead of the road, putting myself and others at risk. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The issue has not yet been officially confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, but it is recurring and can be demonstrated on demand. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The infotainment system has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or others. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lamps or messages were displayed. The issue first appeared recently (8/2025) and has recurred intermittently since then.
NHTSA complaint 11683798The infotainment screen glitches out and selects options on the screen without human interaction. Whenever it starts doing this screen input disables making the screen extremely distracting while driving. During one of my trip, while I was driving on the highway, the screen started going crazy on it's own. First it cancelled my directions from google maps and kept switching out the screen to different apps by clicking on it's own. It was so distracting I had to pull over and turn off the car to reset the screen. It happens randomly so it's nearly impossible to reproduce to get it repaired under warranty.
NHTSA complaint 11679667The head unit touch screen in the car continuously beeps and glitches, sometimes turning on the radio, inability to adjust volume, and is presenting a risk as it is a serious distraction while driving the vehicle. There is no option to turn the head unit off itself without removing it from the vehicle.
NHTSA complaint 11679105I am reporting two safety-related issues with my 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid. 1. Head Gasket Failure At approximately 93,500 miles, the head gasket failed without any prior warning signs. The vehicle had been regularly maintained at Honda dealerships, with one service done by a third-party mechanic around 87,000 miles. There were no engine warning lights or coolant leak warnings before the incident. The engine temperature warning suddenly appeared while driving, and I immediately stopped the car. A Honda dealership confirmed the head gasket failure and quoted over $4,000 for repairs. This kind of major engine failure is highly unusual for such a new vehicle and raises serious concerns about long-term engine durability or possible design flaws in the cooling system or head gasket components. 2. False Activation of Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) The vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system frequently activates or issues a warning while driving, even when there are no obstacles or vehicles nearby. This has happened multiple times and creates a sudden sense of panic, increasing the risk of being rear-ended or losing control of the vehicle. Both issues suggest potential safety defects in this model. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate whether similar complaints have been reported for the 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid, as these failures could pose significant safety risks.
NHTSA complaint 11678735Touchscreen glitches by itself, clicking randomly on the screen and is unresponsive to touch. It started after 2 years of use after purchasing new, and has not resolved. Heat seems to make it worse. It is a safety issue as it'll click out of navigation, or become difficult/impossible to change settings.
NHTSA complaint 11678398The infotainment system is constantly glitching, randomly pressing buttons on its own. Map system goes in and out, can't make phone calls in emergency situations. The system is a distraction and can't be used.
NHTSA complaint 11674943Honda is using cheap brake pads/rotors on their cars. I was parked and went in reverse and the brake pads started squealing so loudly, something didn’t seem right. I’ve never heard this sound before and my family hasn’t either who’ve owned many cars before. I took it to the dealership and they were able to reproduce the sound. They said nothing could be done even though the brake pads are too thick. This seems to happen when it’s humid, raining or cold. The dealership didn’t really care but this seems like a hazard. I’ve read on forums and researched online that this is a very common issue and nothing is being done to fix it. A recall should be issue because this can be a road hazard.
NHTSA complaint 11670636Honda Accord Hybrid Touring Edition 2022 [XXX] [XXX] Complete Brake System Failure while pulling in to a Starbucks parking lot in Wayzata, MN. Braking system did not react or stop the car. Automatic braking system did not function either. As a result the car collided into a My Burger wall. No dashboard warning lights. After collision police and ambulance arrived on the scene. Driver was taken to Urgent Care after sustaining soft tissue injuries affecting clavicle, sternum, neck and back. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11666830The head unit touch screen beings to have "ghost" touches which start basically changing everything that's available on the screen. This has led to suddenly loud music being played, navigation being moved around, etc. This causes distractions constantly as it's completely unexpected. The unit offers no way to turn it completely off so you're stuck with it doing stuff randomly. There's also no physical buttons to control any of the functions on the screen. It's basically forcing you to try to get it to stop doing random actions while you're driving.
NHTSA complaint 11665519infotainment screen flashing different screens intermittently, changes from radio stations, volume and apple carplay. Cannot be turned off. It must be a software problem. Honda dealer has no solution, I have brought in the issue three times with no solution offered. I have now passed my warranty so must pay for repairs. window system malfunctioning, will not work at random times.
NHTSA complaint 11665211The vehicles touchscreen system malfunctions and begins “phantom touching” buttons all over the top area of the screen. This results in excessive distractions to the driver as it attempts to make phone calls, start and stop navigation, change radio stations or source, and has loud beeping noises on each “phantom touch.” There is no way to disable the touchscreen or turn it off so each time you drive, these excessive distractions occur and the only “remedy” offered by Honda is to force the consumer to pay over $1000 out of warranty to replace the component.
NHTSA complaint 11663352Entertainment touch screen glitching: frozen screen, randomly switch screens, random voice activation, random clicking different spot of screen, random exiting navigation system
NHTSA complaint 11661651The contact owned a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 68-70 MPH, the vehicle stopped abruptly, causing another vehicle to crash into the rear passenger's side of the vehicle, and a second vehicle to crash into the rear of the vehicle, causing the trunk to be pushed inside the rear seats of the vehicle. The brake warning light was illuminated. The air bags of the contact's vehicle did not deploy. The air bags of the two other vehicles deployed. The contact stated that the rearview mirror separated and hit her head, causing a concussion. Additionally, the contact sustained whiplash, PSTD, and contusions on the back and on both ankles. The contact received medical assistance. The front passenger seat occupant of the second vehicle that rear-ended the vehicle sustained hip injuries, as the occupant was still recovering from a hip surgery that she had undergone prior to the collision. It was unknown whether the passenger received medical assistance. There was no property damage. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to Crash Champions, where it was totaled. The contact hired private investigators who retrieved the EDR data and informed the contact that the emergency braking system had engaged prior to the crash; however, the contact stated that there was no other vehicle or object around the vehicle at the time the emergency braking system had engaged. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the contact was informed that special equipment was not available to diagnose the vehicle based on the EDR data. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,600.
NHTSA complaint 11661220The Touch Screen Malfunctions. The hands-free functions and navigation functions cannot be accessed. The touch screen randomly switches from application-to-application beeping every time it does this. This occurs every 10-15 seconds. I believe this is a safety concern for 2 reasons. First, I travel with a 3 year old. The lack of navigation and hands-free calling presents a safety problem as I must look down to my phone in order to see where I need to go. I cannot receive or make a call without exiting the highway and stopping my vehicle. Second, the incessant beeping, and screens jumping around is very distracting. This is a known Honda Issue for a 2022 Honda Accord. Honda replaced the screen once. It worked properly for 5 months and the problem has recurred. The only recourse advised at this point was to contact you to make a report.
NHTSA complaint 11658130Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall.
