Vehicle purchased new in August 2026. Within 80 miles, it began experiencing a recurring electrical fault causing simultaneous warnings across the steering, braking, and driver-assistance systems (DTCs C28C586, C164286, C181486, C181483, logged via Hyundai's Bluelink diagnostic system). The fault has recurred at least 9 times between 80 and 1,121 miles despite three repair attempts (8/28/26, 9/8/26, 9/14/26), including one escalation to Hyundai's national TechLine (Case #2026091700002) referencing TSB 25-GI-016H. Each repair was declared successful, and the identical fault returned within days each time. During active occurrences, dashboard alerts have included "Check Driver Assistance System," "Check Rear Cross-Traffic Safety System," and simultaneous warnings for lane departure, forward collision, blind spot, and anti-lock braking systems. This represents a loss of reliable communication between safety-critical systems (steering assist, ABS, and driver-assistance) while driving, creating a risk of degraded steering or braking response without warning. Manufacturer has declined to repurchase or replace the vehicle.
NHTSA complaint 11768393The instrument cluster automatically turns on (and stays on) when a car door or the trunk is opened without the car being started. This lead to the battery draining twice while packing and unpacking the car while on a recent camping trip. If I was not with another family that was able to jump my car, my family would have been stranded in the woods. The automatic wake up is considered a feature, but it can put people's safety in serious jeopardy by causing them to be stranded in remote areas. The trim level of this vehicle is marketed as the off-road package, but this feature makes using the vehicle in the manner it is marketed dangerous.
NHTSA complaint 11767965On September 15, 2026, my 2026 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy would not start and could not be driven. AAA responded, tested the 12-volt battery, and advised me that it had a bad battery cell. The vehicle was towed to Larry H. Miller Southwest Hyundai Albuquerque for diagnosis and repair. A service representative later told me that a parasitic electrical drain or malfunctioning component may have depleted the battery, but I have not received a written diagnosis confirming the cause. As of September 28, the vehicle remains at the dealership and has not been repaired or returned to me. I have also experienced two seat-related safety concerns. The driver’s seat moves backward automatically and presses into the second-row captain’s seat area where my child’s rear-facing car seat is installed. This movement pushes the child’s head forward. In addition, the second-row seat controls sometimes do not respond when pressed, or the seat moves in the opposite direction from the one selected. I am concerned about my child’s safety from the seat movement and about being stranded with my three children if the vehicle fails to start again. I am reporting the conditions I observed. Hyundai has not provided me with a diagnosis explaining the no-start failure or the seat behavior.
NHTSA complaint 11767619My "Vehicle Health" reports all systems good on the BlueLink App-- however, when I open "diagnostics history", it shows 8 repeated reports under DTC: C183987 (SAFETY - Anti-lock Braking System). There is also a reports for a DTC C186B87 (ELECTRICAL- Lane Departure Warning System), and a C188087 (null). So there are 10 total reports of this in my history between 11/7/2025 to 9/18/2026. The reports for the anti-lock breaks were reviewed by the dealership and advised by Hyundais tech line that they were just glitches in computer system. However, they have continued. And on top of that, I just filed a separate report about my car accelerating when I pressed the brake (thankfully it happened in a parking lot)-- no idea if its related but its all fishy. Thus I will be going back for another review by dealership "service" team. Initially the first few reports did have an ABS light that showed up on my screen which is what prompted me to look into the app for issue only to see it said everything was fine, until I looked deeper at the historical reports. But lately there has been no ABS light showing up on my dash but the reports are still coming in.
NHTSA complaint 11766136INCIDENT: Pressed brakes but car accelerated. STORY: I reversed out of a parking spot, turning so I could go to the right in parking lot. Put the car in drive and proceeded driving veering right in the parking lot. I pressed brake within 5 seconds of that but the accelerated instead, so I released the brake, looked down to double check I wasn't losing my mind and confirmed, I was pushing the break when it accelerated, pressed it again but much lighter this time and it did accelerated again as I veered to the right where there were no cars parked. I parked, turned off the car and then restarted it. I was not able to recreate the incident but also, no idea why it happened and scary to think what would have happened if I was on the highway or busy road. There were no lights/alerts that showed up when it happened. I plant to take it to dealership to check. And I have read other reports of owners having the same issue with this car.
NHTSA complaint 11766127The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the brakes independently activated. The vehicle failed to drive forward or reverse. The contact stated that after several attempts to release the brakes, the brakes released. The dealer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with ABS module failure. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while the brake pedal was depressed, the brake pedal went to the floorboard and the vehicle stopped. The manufacturer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 8,100.
NHTSA complaint 11765088We purchased a New 2026 Hyundai Palisade Limited. We drove two other palisades (XRT and SEL). We did not have any issues with the windshield. We purchased a Limited trim that was not on the lot, but in a different city with the same company. We did not drive a Limited or Calligraphy since we drove two other palisades. When I drove off the lot with our new Palisade I noticed the vision through the windshield didn't seem right (like a fishbowl when looking right and cars in front at a certain distants). We thought, let's give it a week or two, since we many not be use to the new SUV. After less than two weeks we both said something isn't right with the windshield, still was distorted (fishbowl) type of look when driving. The dealship looked at it and said, this is how Heads Up Displays (HUD) are. They called Hyundai, Hyundai said the same thing. We do not have a HUD in our limited. The dealership said, yes you have a HUD on your Limited. After the dealership did more research they found out we do not have the Heads Up Display. Since the windshield contains the HUD and Acoustic for Limited and Calligraphy we do not have an option do replace the windshield with a lower line e.g. SEL. We are stuck with driving a car that could cause an acident due to not having a clear picture of vehicles in front or when turning right. We don't have no options but to drive a hazad SUV.
NHTSA complaint 11763702There was a recall for my 3rd row seat, my car sat at the dealer for 6 months due to it. They tell me they fixed the recall after 6 months I receive my car and my seats are not functioning. I believe the safety of my kids are at risk due to this. They have yet to take the vehicle back to fix the problem and it has been over 2 months now.
NHTSA complaint 11763411I first brought my vehicle to the Towson MD Hyundai Service Department, near my summer home, upon receiving a warning that the front sensor was not operating. I was advised that the issue will be covered under warranty. Imagine my surprise when I was advised that it would not be covered because the service team located documentation in the vehicle's file indicating that the sensor had been damaged while the new vehicle was being transported to or delivered to the Sarasota FL dealership where we purchased it. They said this documentation specifically chronicled the damage. I reported this to Hyunai's upper mgmt, was assigned a rep who promised to contact Sarasota on my behalf and work to resolve the issue between the two dealerships. After many weeks, she reported back that Sarasota denied that this damage had occurred because the notes/documentation Towson located could no longer be found in the system. But she assured me that they would continue working with the two dealerships to get to the bottom of what had occurred and she would get it covered. It took most of the summer, many calls from the assigned representative stating she was still trying to reach the various parties involved; very confusing as I have never had trouble reaching a service member or manager- and each time made me reiterate the issue, history, and assure that no collision had taken place. Ultimately I was informed Hyundai had determined the damage is not covered under warranty because of what they characterized as external damage, likely due to collision, Of course Iam stunned. The repair will cost approximately $2,000. I want to be unequivocally clear on this point: There has been no impact or visible damage to the front bumper verified by Towson to which she told me "Impact doesn't always show. I have read online about a number of these incidents. i feel Hyundai is clearly trying to cover an ongoing issue that they don't want to address. I am happy share my correspondence with you
NHTSA complaint 11762843With 2100 miles on the Hyundai Palasade Calligraphy Hybrid, we were driving on a well established dirt and gravel road when we experienced a loud pop or bang. We saw nothing in the road ahead in the form of a pot hole or protruding rock, etc. A minute later, a low tire pressure warning light came on. The tire went flat. Upon close inspection there was a cut like slit in the tire just below the bead line of the wheel rim. A look back on the road traveled, produced no clear obstruction that might have caused this. Our assessment of this is a sidewall blowout. This new vehicle comes with no spare tire. Only a pump and container of sealant. Installation of this failed to restore the tire for obvious reasons. This Pirelli 265 45R21 Scorpion MS tire is rare and not in stock anywhere. We had to tow our vehicle 50 miles to a Hyundai dealer who told us we had to wait for them to order a tire. We have spent close to $400.00 in Expenses and still did not pay for a tire yet. Searching the web reveals similar problems with this tire. This has resulted in a negative customer experience with the vehicle and Hyundai alike.
NHTSA complaint 11762530Adaptive cruise control controls the speed limit based on Maps or actual signs was making an error! I was in a 60 MPH area when the system would read the route number sign and mistake it for speed limit. This happened both on state route 80, and state route 70, the car would accelerate up to that speed indicated by the route sign for a few seconds and then realize somehow it was in error and drop down to legal speed. Its a surprise for the driver.
NHTSA complaint 11762523Seats still don't work after recall fix on 2nd and 3rd row. Front seats also do not work when moving 2nd row seat front to back front seat moved instead. Power train engine issues been in hyundai service 3 times diff services depts and still not fixed have not been able to drive car since mar due to these issues. Engine light on 3 power train warning codes on. When pushing gas car hesitates and almost completely stops on freeway or on only 2 way highway making it very unsafe to drive. Loos of power to ac and lights due to this issue!
NHTSA complaint 11762119I am reporting a recurring safety issue with my 2026 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy involving severe shaking, sputtering, loss of acceleration/power, stalling, and abnormal drivetrain behavior. The first incident occurred at just under 10,000 miles after driving for approximately one hour. While traveling at highway speeds, the vehicle began shaking severely and lost significant acceleration/power. After exiting the highway and stopping, the vehicle shut off. When restarted, it continued shaking and would not accelerate normally. No warning lights appeared. The dealership reported multiple stored fault codes, including transmission-related codes. The codes were reset and the vehicle was returned to me. The same condition later occurred again after extended driving. The vehicle shook severely and lost acceleration, again without warning lights. After being turned off for approximately five minutes and restarted, the symptoms temporarily disappeared. The vehicle has since undergone multiple repair attempts. Hyundai/dealership technicians replaced the flywheel. After that repair, the vehicle developed new shaking/stuttering during startup and shutdown. The vehicle was returned again and a motor mount was repaired/replaced. Two days after receiving the vehicle back from the latest repair, it is now exhibiting another serious drivability issue and appears to remain in first gear or otherwise fails to shift normally. I have video of the severe shaking. A dealership technician also advised me that multiple other 2026 Palisades at that dealership were experiencing similar issues and Hyundai had not determined the underlying cause. I am concerned the vehicle may unexpectedly lose propulsion, stall, or fail to accelerate in traffic or at highway speeds. Multiple repair attempts have not resolved the safety concern. The system will not allow me to upload the videos I have, but you may contact me for them.
NHTSA complaint 11761515On August 30, 2026, I was driving my 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy and was stopped in a fast-food drive-through line for approximately 15 minutes. Auto Hold was engaged, and for most of that time I also had my foot on the brake. Immediately before the incident, I believed the truck in front of me was finally beginning to move, so I recall beginning to release my foot from the brake. Without any intentional accelerator input from me, the engine suddenly revved very loudly, as though the accelerator had been fully depressed, and the vehicle rapidly accelerated forward. I did not press the accelerator pedal. The truck was approximately 5 to 10 feet in front of me. I was unable to stop the vehicle before striking the rear of the truck with significant force. The truck’s trailer hitch penetrated the front grille/radiator area and became lodged in my vehicle. A tow truck had to separate the vehicles, and coolant was pouring onto the pavement. There were no warning lights, hybrid-system warnings, A/C issues, or other noticeable abnormalities before the sudden acceleration. The vehicle is currently locked at a collision center, and I have possession of the key. I have requested that it be preserved without repair, teardown, diagnostic clearing, or alteration until relevant electronic and video data can be retrieved. The vehicle is equipped with an Event Data Recorder and Hyundai’s factory-integrated Dash Cam system. I am reporting this as a suspected sudden unintended acceleration or other vehicle-control malfunction and request review for similar complaints involving the 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid.
NHTSA complaint 11760841My 2026 Hyundai Palisade (Calligraphy trim) received the software remedy associated with Hyundai Safety Recall 296 / NHTSA Recall 26V160. Prior to the recall update, the powered second- and third-row seat-folding switches operated with one press, after which the seat completed its movement automatically. Following the recall software update, Hyundai changed the controls so that the operator must continuously hold the switch for the entire duration of seat movement, and releasing the switch immediately stops the seat. I understand that the recall was intended to address occupant/object detection associated with powered seat movement. However, I am concerned that Hyundai's remedy eliminates significant functionality rather than correcting the underlying detection system while preserving the vehicle's original power-seat operation. I purchased the vehicle with one-touch power-folding seats as an advertised feature. The recall remedy materially alters that functionality and also disables or restricts other powered-seat functions that were present when the vehicle was sold. I request that NHTSA review whether Hyundai's remedy for Recall 26V160 is an adequate and appropriate permanent remedy, and whether Hyundai should instead be required to develop a corrected seat-control system that safely detects occupants and obstructions while restoring the vehicle's original one-touch power-folding functionality.
NHTSA complaint 11759203The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle merged into the right lane independently, causing the contact to manually return the vehicle to the correct lane. No warning light was illuminated. Neither the dealer nor an independent mechanic was contacted or notified of the failure. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,917.
NHTSA complaint 11757678I have a 2026 Hyundai palisade- at the time of the incident, the car has 7,500 or so miles. I had a slow leak in one of the tires and took it to a tire repair shop- he pointed that not one, but all four tires had sidewalk bubbles in them, with some tires having more than one bubble. He said it was highly unusual for that to occur and suggested reaching out to Pirelli and/or the dealer for warranty service on them. I reached out to Pirelli and they advised me to take it to the dealer. The dealer claimed it was a Pirelli issue and I’d need to contact them directly and were unable to service the tires. The person at the dealer also said it was unusual and mentioned that others with the same tires had the same issue. I’m let scrambling my head trying to figure all this out.
NHTSA complaint 11755759The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode and decelerated to 20 MPH. After parking and restarting the vehicle, the failure was self-corrected, and the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000.
NHTSA complaint 11755211When using "Lane Keeping Assistance" the vehicle pulls slightly to the right and continues correcting itself creating a snake like pattern. This is unsettling and other vehicles that I own do not have this pattern including the same model from previous years. This feature is design for safety, however when "Lane Keeping Assistance" in operation the pulling to the right looks like you are going into the other lane then correct's itself and repeats not giving the feel of safety. I have taken it do the dealer and file a report to hyundai both parties had stated they cannot do anything without an error code. I have seen other customers complain about this issue with my make/model. Please help correct this issue. Thank you
NHTSA complaint 11752361My car is misfiring. It WILL NOT accelerate as it should. It is like bogging down unable to accelerate when it needs to. It’s struggling. Hyundai is aware of the issue and making owners drive regardless while they “wait for a fix”. It’s extremely dangerous. I’ve almost been hit several times trying to merge onto a highway because it will not accelerate. I’ve had total loss of power one time, putting me and my infant in extreme danger. This has been happening since APRIL.
NHTSA complaint 11752095Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall.
