The contact had not taken the RV to a local dealer. The RV had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
NHTSA complaint 11534828THE MAIN CABLE FOR LIFT SYSTEM IS MOUNTED ON PLYWOOD, KNOWING THAT THE LIFT SYSTEM HAS A LOT OF WEIGHT AND TENSION , THE WOOD WILL ROT AND THE POP UP WILL COLLAPSE POSSIBLE INJURING SOMEONE OR MAYBE EVEN KILLING THEM.IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MOUNTED ON A STAINLESS STEEL PLATE.
NHTSA complaint 11282027TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JAYCO JAY SERIES 1001 XR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS A PROP-UP CAMPER WITH AN ELECTRIC MOTOR. WHEN THE TOP WAS COMPLETELY RAISED, IT COLLAPSED. THE MECHANISM BOLT THAT RAISED THE ROOF HAD BEEN STRIPPED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROMISED A CALL BACK; HOWEVER, THEY HAD NOT CALLED BACK. THE MANUFACTURER CLAIMED THAT THEY WERE BUSY WITH MANY CALL BACK ISSUES. CAMPING WORLD OF MESQUITE (2764 I-30, MESQUITE, TX 75150, (469) 917-0364) ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE JAYCO MANUFACTURER DIRECTLY.
