I was driving on the highway when the sunroof on my JGC exploded. I checked for a debris, ie rock, stick, inside the cabin and found none. There was no other damage to the auto other than the sunroof.
NHTSA complaint 11768061The contact owns a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 45 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the contact heard a loud sound coming from the front of the vehicle and the vehicle lost power. No warning light was illuminated. The contact shifted the gear shifter into neutral(N), then to drive(D), and the vehicle operated intended. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnostic result was unknown. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to call while at the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 8,200.
NHTSA complaint 11767806Car cut off while driving, again. Full dashboard started to flash, warnings, stated that there was no battery, no gas. I was stopped in traffic and managed to pull over and had restart the car. This is the second time that it has cut off while driving . The first time my toddler son was in the car in morning traffic and it cut off. This is an extreme safety hazard for myself, my family and others driving. The entire system failed. It was supposedly fixed before but the problem is still there.
NHTSA complaint 11764600On XXX at approximately 1:32 p.m., I was stopped in a Starbucks drive-through in my 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. The vehicle was completely stopped and my foot was on the brake pedal. Without any intentional acceleration input from me, the vehicle suddenly lurched forward. The movement was significant enough that I initially believed the vehicle behind me had struck my Jeep. I then confirmed that the vehicle behind me had not made contact with my vehicle. Fortunately, I had left sufficient distance between my Jeep and the vehicle in front of me, and no collision occurred. This is the second serious unintended vehicle-control event I have experienced with this vehicle. I previously submitted NHTSA Complaint #XXX after the vehicle unexpectedly applied severe braking while I was driving, without an apparent obstacle or braking input from me. The sudden deceleration in that incident caused the seatbelt restraint to injure my chest. Following the first incident, the Jeep dealership retained the vehicle for approximately one week but was unable to duplicate the condition or determine its cause. I subsequently reported the incident to Stellantis. Stellantis has opened escalated Case #XXX and has now assigned a third-party investigator to inspect the vehicle. I am submitting this additional report because the vehicle has now exhibited two separate unintended vehicle-control events: unexpected severe braking while driving and unexpected forward movement while completely stopped with my foot on the brake. I no longer feel that the vehicle is safe to drive. NHTSA complaint 117630122025 Jeep Grand Cherokee with approximately 34,214 miles. The vehicle has an ongoing clicking noise during acceleration and deceleration that has been presented to an authorized Jeep dealership for repair on multiple occasions and remains unresolved. The vehicle was returned to the dealership again on September 4, 2026. The repair order documents “CLICKING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING AND SLOWING DOWN.” The clicking concern originally began much earlier in the vehicle's life and has continued despite repeated service visits and attempts to diagnose the cause. During this most recent visit, the vehicle also had a red brake warning displayed on the dashboard. The dealership advised me that this warning was related to a computer issue that required a reset. The reset was performed and I was advised that the braking system was functioning properly. The warning has not returned as of the date of this complaint. I am including this only as part of the vehicle's service history. My primary concern is the recurring clicking during acceleration and deceleration. The cause has not been identified or corrected despite repeated warranty service visits. The manufacturer has also been notified of this ongoing issue. I have repeatedly requested that my manufacturer case remain open while the concern remains unresolved, but the case has previously been closed despite those requests. The vehicle remains under the manufacturer's warranty. I am submitting this complaint so that the recurring unresolved condition is formally documented with NHTSA in the event that similar complaints are reported by other owners.
NHTSA complaint 11762767Have had two different tires with golf ball size knots come up on sidewall
NHTSA complaint 11762593On XXX, I was involved in a motor vehicle collision on [XXX] in [XXX] while driving a leased 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The airbags in the Jeep did not deploy during the collision. The other vehicle involved was an approximately 10-year-old Honda SUV, and its airbags did deploy. Fortunately, I did not sustain an injury in the collision. However, the Jeep was subsequently declared a total loss. The vehicle has since been removed from the lot where it was being held, and I no longer have possession of or access to it. I therefore cannot independently inspect the airbag system or obtain crash data from the vehicle. I am reporting this because I am concerned about whether the airbag and occupant restraint systems in the vehicle functioned as designed during the collision. I would like NHTSA to document this incident and consider whether the non-deployment warrants further review. I can provide the VIN and other information about the vehicle and collision if needed. I would also like any available Event Data Recorder (EDR) or other crash-related data to be preserved and reviewed if possible. The vehicle was leased rather than owned and has since been declared a total loss. [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11760741New vehicle failure to start on four occasions over approximately sixteen months due to overnight parasitic battery drain. Following the first incident the dealer replaced both the main and auxiliary batteries. Following the second incident the dealer tested and charged both batteries and performed software update to body control module (BCM). Following the third incident the dealer tested both batteries and checked codes. Following the fourth incident the dealer replaced both the main and auxiliary batteries. The incidents required towing or jump starting.
NHTSA complaint 11760074Vehicle was unable to be shutdown and was locked in park. Can was not responding to turning off while in the garage and engine running. Since the vehicle was inside an attached garage, we were concerned about Carbon Monoxide getting into the house. No way to turn car off and had to involve police/fire department. Disconnected the battery terminal in the trunk which was unable to be opened, so we had to crawl through the side passenger door to get into the trunk. The vehicle is now at the dealer (Wilde Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, at [XXX] in [XXX]). No police report #, but CAD entry from officer in having to assist. NHTSA complaint 11759988While driving my 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly applied the brakes very hard without any braking input from me. There was no apparent obstacle, vehicle, or other condition in front of me that would have required emergency braking. The braking was extremely abrupt and forceful. The sudden deceleration caused my seat belt to lock and restrain me hard enough to cause significant bruising and pain across my chest and reconstructed breasts. I recently underwent a double mastectomy with breast reconstruction, which made the impact and resulting injury particularly concerning. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership immediately following the incident because I am concerned that the vehicle's automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning system, or another braking or electronic system may have malfunctioned. The dealership has now had the vehicle for approximately one week. I have been advised that they have been unable to reproduce the incident or identify a problem that explains why the vehicle unexpectedly applied the brakes. I am extremely concerned about operating the vehicle because the cause of this unintended braking event has not been identified or repaired, and I have no assurance that it will not happen again. An unexpected emergency-braking event at highway speed, in traffic, or with another vehicle traveling closely behind could result in a serious collision or injury. This incident is particularly concerning to me given the other safety-related recalls and issues affecting my Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA has a record of the unintended braking event and can determine whether similar incidents have been reported involving this vehicle or its braking/automatic emergency braking systems.
NHTSA complaint 11759932The contact owns a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While the contact’s daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed on the way to work, another driver crossed the road and crashed into the vehicle. The air bags in the daughter’s vehicle failed to deploy as needed. The front of the vehicle was damaged, the hood was bent, the grill was damaged, and headlights were knocked out of the headlight enclosures. The daughter was taken to a clinic, and an X-ray determined that there was a swollen tendon in the left knee, and medical treatment was provided. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot due to a transmission fluid leak. A Police report was filed but was not yet provided. The vehicle was not yet inspected or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
NHTSA complaint 117580792025 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE – UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND UNEXPECTED BRAKING I am reporting multiple intermittent safety-related problems with my 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee, VIN [XXX], involving Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), unexpected acceleration, and unexpected braking. While driving on the highway with ACC activated, the vehicle has on multiple occasions behaved unpredictably. When another vehicle enters or cuts into my lane, my Grand Cherokee does not always reduce speed as expected. On some occasions, the vehicle has accelerated even though another vehicle was directly ahead or entering my path. One of these incidents occurred before a collision. I was traveling in my lane with the driver-assistance/ACC system activated when another vehicle crossed into my path. My Jeep continued traveling forward and did not automatically slow or brake sufficiently in response to the vehicle entering my path. When I manually applied the brakes, there was not enough distance remaining to avoid the collision. I have also experienced approximately two incidents on the highway involving unexpected aggressive braking. When I manually touched the brake pedal, the instrument cluster displayed a red warning and the vehicle suddenly applied extremely hard braking. The braking response was substantially more aggressive than the brake input I was providing. In addition, on one occasion while leaving my office at low speed, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated without my intentionally commanding the acceleration. The Adaptive Cruise Control and driver-assistance system were OFF at the time. This incident is particularly concerning because it occurred independently of ACC operation. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Jeep dealership and I reported all of these conditions. The dealership advised me that because the problems are intermittent, if they cannot duplicate the condition they cannot determine what repair to perform. They proposed ext INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION
NHTSA complaint 11755946The transmission fails constantly when we are accelerating - approxx 50-58 miles per hour the transmission freezes & the RMP's stay @ 4-5 thousand for 20-30 seconds - it fails to downshift. This is extremely dangerous at any time & can cause a major accident if the vehicle is stuck & you need to stop! We have have left the car several times for this issue & they keep telling us they cannot replicate the issue. (We are older & we are given looks like we are nuts)
NHTSA complaint 11754298This vehicle has now experienced three separate incidents of sudden loss of propulsion while traveling at highway speeds, requiring it to be towed to the dealership on all three occasions. Each incident involved the same dangerous defect, and after each repair I was assured, the vehicle had been repaired and was safe to operate. Despite those assurances, the identical defect has continued to recur. This is not simply a customer satisfaction issue; it is an ongoing safety issue that places my family and every motorist around us at significant for catastrophic event. On May 12, 2025, I took delivery of my 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude. On June 23, 2025, the vehicle experienced its first sudden loss of propulsion while traveling at highway speed and was towed to Ryan Auto Mall in Buffalo, Minnesota. On January 5, 2026, the identical defect occurred again. The vehicle once again lost propulsion while traveling at highway speed and was towed to the dealership. From January 5, 2026, through May 13, 2026, my vehicle remained at the dealership for approximately four and one-half months while Stellantis and its authorized dealer attempted to diagnose and repair the recurring defect. Following that extended repair process, I was advised that the vehicle had been repaired and that the issue had been resolved. Settlement Agreement: On May 13, 2026, I executed a Release Agreement with FCA US LLC. As part of the negotiated settlement, I was required to enter into a lease for a 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The only reason I agreed to sign the Release Agreement and enter into the new lease was because I relied on Stellantis' representations that the 2025 Jeep had been successfully repaired and that the dangerous defect had been permanently corrected. Had I been informed that the vehicle remained susceptible to the same failure, I would never have agreed to retain the vehicle or execute the related lease agreement.
NHTSA complaint 11753471My 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe suffered a catastrophic internal engine failure and set DTC P2338 ("Cylinder 3 Above Knock/Combustion Vibration Sensor Threshold"). Although my VIN is not included in Safety Recall 78C (NHTSA 25V-766), my vehicle experienced the same failure mode, symptoms, and diagnostic code associated with the recall. Stellantis' STAR Center reviewed the case, confirmed internal engine damage, and recommended complete engine replacement. While driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly lost power and entered limp mode. I was able to safely exit the highway, but this defect created a serious safety risk and could have resulted in a crash. Stellantis has already expanded the recall population after identifying additional affected vehicles. My vehicle was built during the same production period, experienced the identical failure, and has a manufacturer-confirmed engine replacement recommendation. Chrysler's XC2 program provides unlimited years/unlimited mileage engine coverage for this defect, which is linked to engine manufacturing issues. Based on the identical failure characteristics and confirmed diagnosis, I believe my vehicle is affected by the same defect and should be included in Recall 78C and the associated XC2 warranty coverage. I am submitting this complaint to request that NHTSA investigate whether additional vehicles outside the current recall population are experiencing the same defect and whether Recall 78C should be expanded to include affected vehicles such as mine.
NHTSA complaint 11753344There is a serious malfunction between the hybrid and electric systems. The engine is making a loud noise, and neither the hybrid nor electric mode functions properly. In addition, the fuel and oil refresh warning remains on, even after refueling. These issues are ongoing and substantially impair the use, value, and safety of the vehicle. On January 2, 2026, and march 8 my Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe shut down twice while I was driving home on the freeway. This vehicle is not safe to operate under these conditions.Despite these concerns, the issues have not been resolved. Stellantis has removed 4xe models from the Jeep website due to safety concerns, recalls, and a high volume of customer complaints. At this time, there appears to be no effective remedy, and a simple software update will not correct these defects. My vehicle continues to produce an extremely loud engine noise, even while operating in hybrid mode. I am very familiar with how a Jeep should perform—this is my fifth Jeep Grand Cherokee—and I have never experienced anything like this before. Even my previous gasolineonly models operated much more quietly. In contrast, both the hybrid and gas modes on this vehicle sound like a diesel truck. Additionally, the fuel and oil warning light remains on constantly. I have contacted Jeep Customer Care multiple times, as well as the servicing dealer, and I was repeatedly told to “add more gas and continue driving the vehicle.” Despite following those instructions, the issue persists. The warning light does not turn off, the engine remains excessively loud, and the fuel consumption is unreasonable. The situation worsens in cold weather. The battery drains rapidly from 100% without explanation, even when the vehicle has been properly charged. At this point, I am genuinely afraid to charge the vehicle and even more concerned about driving it.In addition, the vehicle feels sluggish while driving and frequently does not pick up power as it should. There is a noticeable delay
NHTSA complaint 11752292The contact owns a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that they had just purchased the vehicle brand new with the intent to utilize the Forward collision Warning plus avoidance system, The contact stated that on various occasions while driving the Forward collision Warning plus avoidance system will not function as proposed and no warning lights will illuminate. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was advised that the front bumper sensors and Forward facing camera were faulty and needed to be replaced. The components recommended were replaced however the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000.
NHTSA complaint 11750910blackout on the radio cluster, and dashboard instrument cluster intermittently goes completely black while I am driving and sometimes it just keep blinking off and on. front driver side tire when I turn it feels like theirs something wrong with the front and while turning the driver side rear tire sounds like it’s dragging or constantly on gravel. while driving, the vehicle intermittently displays a traction light even though i’m just driving on the highway and straight paved roads that it doesn’t need traction on.
NHTSA complaint 11749218The contact owned a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, another vehicle hydroplaned from another lane into the contact's lane, causing the contact's vehicle to crash into the oncoming vehicle. The contact's vehicle then crashed into a ditch before coming to a complete stop. The other vehicle crashed into a guardrail, and its air bags were deployed. The contact's wife was occupying the front passenger seat during the incident. No air bags deployed. Both the contact and his wife were transported by ambulance to the medical center. The contact sustained cervical strain and soft tissues. The contact's wife sustained a brain hemorrhage and remained hospitalized in a highly sedated state. Additionally, the contact's wife was being treated for a continuous high fever. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard and was deemed a total loss. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,076.
NHTSA complaint 11748451Our sunroof completely shattered for no reason. We were not hit by or with anything, we did not hit any objects, it just spontaneously broke. Thankfully our interior shade was pulled, otherwise we would have been showered with shards of glass. It is available for inspection. Our safety was put at risk as we were on a freeway, in traffic & the loud sound it made scared us, it sounded like a very close gun shot. We had to pull over to see what happened. We took it to the Jeep dealer where we bought it & they told us they have never seen this happen before & there's nothing they can do. There were absolutely no symptoms prior to this happening. It was not overly hot or cold outside. (73 degrees & dry).
