My 2022 Jeep Wagoneer has experienced four separate incidents of complete power loss while being operated. During these events, the electrical displays went dark and electrical functions stopped working on the entire vehicle On [XXX], the vehicle lost all power while I was pulling into my garage. It would not release from Park normally and required wheel skates and towing. The dealership replaced the battery, but the symptoms later returned. On [XXX], the vehicle lost all power while traveling approximately 20–30 mph near [XXX] and [XXX] in heavy holiday traffic. I could not reach the shoulder and stopped in a turning lane without a collision. The vehicle required towing. The dealership told me it performed a computer reset and software update. In approximately February 2026, associated with a February 11 service entry, the vehicle again lost power while driving. I was able to restart it and drive to the dealership. My recollection is that I was told another reset/software update was performed, although the online service summary says “Check Battery.” On [XXX], the vehicle lost all power while traveling approximately 35–40 mph on [XXX]. I was able to pull into a service station, restart the vehicle, and deliver it to Chris Crain Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Benton, Arkansas, that day. As of September 30, 2026, the vehicle had remained at the dealership for 33 days without a completed repair communicated to me. A dealership representative, Kim, told me by telephone that technicians had reproduced the failure, suspected an electrical component or connector short, and contacted Jeep engineers. I do not have a confirmed written diagnosis. I am concerned that another unexpected complete power loss in traffic could cause a collision. Similar symptoms have recurred after prior repair efforts, but they all share the same underlying cause. I request review of these incidents as a potential safety defect. NHTSA complaint 117682332022 Jeep Wagoneer — VIN [XXX]. Both front sun visor mounting brackets have broken. The driver-side visor can become loose/detached and obstruct the driver's view. Passenger-side visor has also broken. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11767703To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to report a serious safety concern involving my Jeep Wagoneer. The vehicle has experienced intermittent stalling issues, creating a hazardous driving situation and leaving me stranded. The vehicle unexpectedly stalled, causing a loss of power and leaving me without reliable transportation. Given the potential safety risks associated with a vehicle stalling while in operation, I am extremely concerned about the possibility of this occurring again, particularly in traffic or at highway speeds. Adding to my frustration, after contacting the dealership for assistance, I was informed that it would be approximately eight days before the vehicle could even be inspected. A delay of this length for a vehicle experiencing a potentially dangerous drivability and safety issue is unacceptable and leaves me without confidence in the safety and reliability of the vehicle. I am requesting that this matter be investigated promptly and that appropriate action be taken to address the stalling condition. I also believe this issue warrants review for any potential broader safety concerns affecting other Jeep Wagoneer owners. Please document this complaint and advise me regarding any available assistance, escalation options, or known remedies related to this condition. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.
NHTSA complaint 11767546Front parksense sensors not working even after being cleaned. Drivers side seatbelt saying not buckled even when buckled. Needing to rebuckle for it to register. Low-voltage warnings appearing while driving. Multiple dashboard warning lights appearing simultaneously - low-voltage and check engine light. Loss of electrical power while driving (So scary!) The vehicle shifting itself into park when coming to a stop in traffic. Apple CarPlay disconnecting sporadically.
NHTSA complaint 11767352While driving, vehicle suddenly displayed low voltage and "power saving mode" error messages. Multiple systems shut down including AC and radio. With engine stop/start disabled, engine died while slowing to a stop, automatically engaged parking brake, and vehicle shut down. Was able to restart and limp home. Vehicle would not re-start after shutdown. Battery was completely discharged (<9V) and still hot to the touch 4 hours after turned off. Battery tested good, but was replaced out of caution. Current static battery voltage 12.3V. Charging voltage while running 13.4V. Voltage while running with heavy electrical load (AC, radio, heated seats, headlights on) 12.9V. Believe this to be related to known issues with eTorque generator
NHTSA complaint 11766490Driver side seat warmer turns off within minutes. I drove 3 other 2022 wagoneers which all did the same thing.
NHTSA complaint 11765407- [ ] U1412 implausible vehicle speed signal received - [ ] U0402 implausible data received from tcm - [ ] P0562 battery system/voltage low - [ ] P032f combustion engine producing insufficient torque Car completely shut off when attempting to turn onto Route 73 in NJ. The car was stuck in the intersection causing a threat to life and well-being of those not only in the Wagoneer but to the other drivers as the car could not be moved until towed. This took over an 1.5 hours to get towed and traffic had to be diverted by police.
NHTSA complaint 11765405Stopped veheicle at construction stop light diverting heavy traffic to one lane. Was first in line at the light and when light turned green I started thru the one lane( total length was probably 3/10 of a mile) with a couple of hundred yeards to go my engine stopped running and I was able to just barely reach the end of the one lane and pull over where the mile of traffic built up behind me could pass. Called wrecker and got towed to nearest Jeep dealer and was told the fuel pump had gone out. Been decades since I had a fuel pump go out in a car. Just glad I was not in heavy [XXX] traffic. That would have been dangerous. Repair invoice says that I reported "engine light came and lost oil preasure". Neither of those alerts came on. The eengine just stopped out of the blue. Otherwise, I am very happy with the ride, comfort and performance of this Wagoneer. Thought someone should know about this event. NHTSA complaint 11763717The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. The contact stated that while driving under 5 MPH, the vehicle shut off and was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The vehicle was towed to an undisclosed location. The low battery reserve message was displayed afterwards on two occasions. The contact stated the failure was like the failure listed in NHTSA Action Number: PE24018 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM, ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The Jeep manufacturer was contacted by phone on several occasions, and the contact spoke with a representative. The local dealer associated the failure with the auxiliary battery. The contact was informed that the auxiliary battery needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
NHTSA complaint 11762211Vehicle Information: 2022 Jeep Wagoneer (5.7L V8 eTorque Mild-Hybrid System)Component Affected: Electrical System / Hybrid Propulsion System Defect: My 2022 Jeep Wagoneer continuously experiences sudden engine stalling and unexpected shutdowns while operating in Auto Start-Stop mode. When the vehicle comes to a complete stop at a red light or intersection, the engine shuts off normally to save fuel. However, when I release the brake pedal to accelerate, the vehicle fails to restart automatically. Instead, the vehicle suffers a total loss of power, drops the transmission directly into Park (P), and abruptly engages the emergency parking brake. This creates an immediate, severe safety hazard as it leaves me completely stranded in active traffic and at busy intersections. To get moving again, I am forced to completely cycle the push-button ignition manually. Additionally, the vehicle regularly fails to remote-start, turning itself off immediately due to the electrical fault. A diagnostic scan reveals DTC P0B42 (Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage Sense "B" Circuit Low). This dangerous stalling pattern directly matches the active federal probe under NHTSA Investigation PE24018 regarding 2022 Jeep Wagoneer 48-volt electrical and power distribution failures.
NHTSA complaint 11760754Battery light came on and showed low voltage while driving down the highway along with a loud sound. Also the icon with a red A and a circle around it came on, the lights and icons starting signaling. The steering wheel instantly became difficult to turn and control. I started to pull off the road the best I could and the parking break engaged before I could come to a complete stop. I wasn’t even off the road before the vehicle came to a stop.
NHTSA complaint 11760187My car blew an engine while I was inside the car. The car was in park and running in a parking lot when the parking brake automatically engaged unexpectedly. Then, the gauge cluster instructed me to press the brake and push the start/stop button. I then got a warning on my gauge cluster, this time notifying my car entered starter protection mode. Repeating the process three times, me, my four year-old daughter, and were put at high risk of suffering burns as my car started to give off a burning smell of oil, as well strong white smoke from the hood, and shut off the car and opened the hood to release the smoke. If I had waited longer, there would have been a fire. The car is available upon inspection and is currently at my local dealer as of 8/11/2026 (Thunder Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Bartow, Florida) for repairs. An engine failure was confirmed by discoveries by the dealer of a broken valve spring, a dropped cylinder, a cracked piston head, and an oil-coolant mixture. The dealer confirmed that this stemmed from Stellantis's faulty "Multi-Displacement System" (MDS) cylinder-deactivation system and "eTorque" mild-hybrid system. Both systems work together to save fuel at cruising speeds and stoplights. However, due to the constant cycling of both systems, they contribute to the excessive engine stress and oil pressure fluctuation, which are known for the "WS" Jeep Wagoneer, the "DT" RAM 1500, and the "WL" Grand Cherokee equipped with the 5.7L HEMI eTorque V8. The dealer relayed the issues to Stellantis North America, showing videos and photos of this catastrophic mechanical failure.
NHTSA complaint 11756614Liftgate Latch Assembly Failure: The vehicle experienced an internal electrical short circuit and hardware failure within the power liftgate latch assembly. This defective latch caused a severe parasitic 12V battery drain that repeatedly rendered the vehicle completely dead, leaving it unexpectedly stranded. The hardware failure also triggered a software error loop that locked the power liftgate into an inoperable mode (3-beep lockout). Replacing the liftgate latch assembly successfully resolved the liftgate operation and eliminated the parasitic drain. Uconnect 5 Software Defects: Independent of the physical liftgate issue, the Uconnect 5 infotainment system (currently running software build U29.42, referencing TSB 08-230-24) exhibits significant software bugs and display stability issues. The primary central screen frequently flickers, displays line artifacts, freezes, and repeatedly drops wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity. Additionally, when shifting the vehicle into reverse, the rear backup camera feed fails to load, displaying only a blank black screen instead of the camera view. This disables primary vehicle setting controls, navigation interfaces, and rearward safety visibility while operating the vehicle.
NHTSA complaint 11755671vehicle lost eng power would not restart had to be towed to dealership they conformed problem
NHTSA complaint 11755174While merging onto the interstate with my wife and kids in the car, the car engine stopped nearly causing a dangerous accident. Got it to a dealership and the etourque system needs a 4200 repair and I believe there is an investigation into this problem with Jeep
NHTSA complaint 11754679The right second row passenger seat in a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer appeared to be pushed fully rearward into its normal seating position and produced an audible/tactile click. No warning lamp or message indicated that the seat was not latched. While traveling approximately 40 to 45 mph, the driver had to brake hard. During braking, the entire right second row seat moved rapidly forward and pinned a child and the child restraint against the front passenger seat. The child struck the side of her head, was evaluated in an emergency department, and was diagnosed with a mild concussion. After the vehicle stopped, the seat was pushed rearward only to free the child. It then latched and is currently available for inspection. The seat has not been tested or operated since. The exact cause is UNKNOWN. Possible causes include incomplete latch engagement, a latch or actuator malfunction, or a failure of the seat position warning system. The vehicle has a prior documented warranty repair involving the opposite second row seat. In October 2024, that seat’s motor could be heard operating but the seat would not release. The dealer diagnosed a weak release motor and replaced two folding seat motor actuators under warranty. The current failure has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer. The vehicle and seat have not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurer, or an independent repair facility. Photographs, hospital records, and the prior warranty repair record are available. A case has been opened with Stellantis.
NHTSA complaint 11754499I own a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer with the 5.7L HEMI eTorque system. The vehicle has lost all power while being driven on two separate occasions. The first occurred on October 22, 2025, on a major interstate. The second occurred on January 30, 2026, on a state highway. In both cases the engine shut off without warning while the vehicle was in motion, with my wife and four children aboard. Power steering and braking assist were lost. The vehicle locked into Park, and I could not get power to shift into neutral or restart it. The January 30 incident required towing. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic, who was unable to replicate the problem. Since the second failure, I have observed that system voltage drops rapidly during normal driving on nearly every trip. To avoid another shutdown in traffic, I now monitor voltage and pull over to shut the engine off and restart it once it reaches 12.4V. This takes several efforts each trip to pull over and restart the system. It has produced anxiety in my family about the safety of this vehicle. This is a full-size SUV losing power in highway traffic without warning. It endangers my family and every driver around us. I am aware of ODI Preliminary Evaluation PE24018 covering this vehicle and system, and I am submitting this so my incidents are part of that record.
NHTSA complaint 11754467While driving down the road, I came to a stop and the vehicle started flashing every light then would not restart or allow the vehicle to be put into neutral. Initially thought maybe a battery issue despite my new battery being only eight months old replaced the battery and all the electronics started going haywire requiring the vehicle to be towed.
NHTSA complaint 11753217While driving on the highway going 70 mph, the vehicle lost all power and shut down engaging the automatic emergency brake system. This is the second time it has happened. Car is currently at dealership awaiting service.
NHTSA complaint 11752957Due to braking system electronic failure vehicle automatically disables safety features such as ABS, parking collision sensors disabled, traction control, and vehicle will automatically and abruptly go into P (park) when coming to a stop while braking. This can be caused by wheel speed sensors, brake control module, or communication failure to PCM. Engine codes U0418, U0415, and U1003 linked to problem. This is a big safety hazard where vehicle damage or injury/death can occur to occupants of the vehicle. Safety features should never become disabled in a vehicle while in operation.
NHTSA complaint 11752359Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall; the 60 most recent are listed.
