While driving my vehicle suddenly shuts off the engine and puts the vehicle into park. This has happened multiple times now and once on I-66 while merging onto I-495. This seems very dangerous.
NHTSA complaint 11767769The driver’s side sun visor at the main attach point broke when trying to move it from the stowed position. Prior to this, no looseness or other abnormal condition was known to exist. The plastic elbow which serves as the pivot point separated from the base with the electrical wires remaining attached. This results in the driver’s view directly in front of the vehicle being 80-90% restricted as the visor falls directly in front of the driver’s face. The visor will not stow. One hand must be used to hold the visor up against the headliner. This presents risks to the driver via restricted visibility, distraction and physical limitations. The risk extends as a threat to the safety of passengers and collisions with other motorists, pedestrians and/or property. The dealer will be notified for inspection and repair. Photos and video are available. One year earlier the same thing happened on the passenger’s side of the same vehicle. It was replaced by the dealer.
NHTSA complaint 11767178Our vehicle was purchased in December of 2025. Aprox. One month after purchase the vehicle unexpectedly turns off while driving. Fails to start. Along with multiple other issues. Its has been in the shop over the course of that time more than four months and is in the shop current day 14sept2026. We have spend roughly $10,000 to date and continue to be financially and emotionally ravaged. Sealants has been no help. The purchasing dealership also refuses to make it right.
NHTSA complaint 11764147There were no warning signs. I was at a red light and my car completely shut off and red steering wheel with an exclamation mark showed on my screen. It would not immediately start as I tried to restart the engine. It took a min to restart. It automatically had thrown my emergency brake on. The a/c was also shut down. I started driving again and when I got to the next stop sign it did the same exact thing. I was a few streets over from my home. I only slowed down through the stop signs in order to get home so that my husband could assess it. When he walked up to my car it was making a strange sound, which eventually stopped. I shut my engine off and restarted it but the alert was still there. I had just come off the highway when this happened doing a speed of 65 then slowing to exit. This scared me. I am calling the dealership in the morning in order to have them pick it up and assess the issue.
NHTSA complaint 11763510On Monday, August 24th around 7:30am my wife was driving South in our Jeep and had just entered onto the freeway. There was heavy traffic and the early morning sunlight was impairing her vision. To remedy the sunlight issue, she pulled the visor from the plastic dock/restraint and while folding the visor down she proceeded to rotate the visor to a position to shield the light. During the folding and rotating motion, the attachment supporting the metal arm that supported the visor broken inside the roof. When my wife let go of the visor, the visor dropped down about 2 inches and "drooped" at a significant angle, swinging freely. It did not completely pull out and separate from the ceiling but was somehow still prevented from being completely removed from its housing. My wife had to grab the broken visor and restrict it from moving/swinging freely so she could see while operating the vehicle in heavy traffic and sunlight issues. I had to reach over from the passenger side of the vehicle to take the visor from her as to help her continue to drive safely. I managed to push the visor arm back into the ceiling then dock the visor. The visor then stayed in position for the rest of the trip but now she had to drive with the sunlight issue for a little while that still posed, in my opinion a safety issue. This same issue happened in 11/2024 but it was on the passenger side. I believe the support mechanism for the visor was built with either defective or substandard/cheap materials that do not meet the standard for the safe operation of the vehicle. I've come understand that my vehicle (or make/model) is not the only one affected by this. I believe this issue poses a safety risk to all vehicles with this part design or materials used in manufacturing/installation.
NHTSA complaint 11763446Vehicle began to randomly shut off at low speed while moving, while stopped and also in park. Has not yet happened at high speeds. All occasions are at speeds of less than 5 mph, no MIL. Took to the dealership, diag of faulted aux battery. Battery replaced. Still very randomly will die in gear, at low to no speed, and also in park on occasion. Dealership update software of the BCM, PCM, and DCM. Returned to us with the same ongoing dying issue, returned to dealership, they did a wheel alignment, obviously didn't fix the dying issue. This vehicle carries my family, this will cause an accident as other traffic avoiding the vehicle has been the only factor in avoiding accident. No codes present. Vehicle is being refused to drive due to the uncertainty of when and where the vehicle will die randomly. This has happened numerous times over the last month, we will not accept the return of this vehicle until this problem is solved. This has so far ONLY HAPPENED AT LOW SPEED. Dealership has put many highway miles on it without replicating issue. It can be easily replicated by merely driving it from one parking spot to another or around a parking lot stopping and starting and traveling at speeds 5mph or less. This will happen at low to no throttle input. Vehicle will immediately start and run after being placed into park and hitting the start button, this is not the auto -start-stop feature working correctly. Dealership states this has only happened while pulling into a working bay at the dealership, unable to replicate results on the highway. It is currently the low speed dying that is the issue, this has been brought to the attention of the service dept on numerous occasions.
NHTSA complaint 11762497I purchased my 2023 Jeep Wagoneer new in March 2023. The vehicle has experienced multiple electrical/electronic safety-related failures. Beginning around Oct. 2024, the digital instrument cluster intermittently failed to load after startup, leaving me without critical information including vehicle speed and fuel level. I photographed this occurring numerous times and repeatedly reported it to the dealer. The cluster was eventually replaced in April 2026. The vehicle has also unexpectedly shut off more than once while slowing or coming to a stop at a stop sign or traffic light. In July 2026, the entire right-front exterior lighting system failed. The right headlight, daytime/running light, front turn signal and cornering light are all inoperative while the left side operates normally. The dealer replaced the complete right headlamp assembly in Aug. 2026, but this did not correct the problem. All right-front lighting remains inoperative. The odometer is also continuously flashing. The dealer has not determined the cause and says further diagnosis and Stellantis STAR technical assistance are required. As of Sept. 2026, the lighting failure has persisted for more than a month despite a repair attempt. I am concerned about the safety risks from loss of required exterior lighting/turn-signal function, prior loss of instrument-cluster information, and unexpected vehicle shutoffs. I do not know whether these conditions share the same underlying cause.
NHTSA complaint 11761526The vehicle has not started, on 2 separate occasions. It will not start, let you open the door and, the APP won't work. It is just dead. After a period of time, it will start and work fine. Then it won't start again. I have read there are several instances on your web site of this type of failure. The dealer can't find anything "wrong".
NHTSA complaint 11760755On multiple occasions, when starting the vehicle, the screen on the dashboard remains with the power button and instructions to depress the brake and push button to start. The car starts, but no gauges appear on the dashboard. Turning the car off and back on does not resolve the issue. The car is on and running and will let me shift into gear and drive the car, as demonstrated in multiple videos. Driving the car while a message on how to start the car is concerning as I cannot see/view the speedometer or any other gauges. Additionally, the indicator that the driver’s door is open is on when the door is shut. Turning the vehicle off, exiting and locking does not resolve the issue and the screen remains illuminated with the same message. These issues have been reported to the dealer and each time I have been told they cannot reproduce the issue-most recently in May 2026 when the vehicle was inspected, even when showing them photos and videos.
NHTSA complaint 11760086Three times my car has suddenly stopped and went into park. It happened once pulling into the median of a roadway. The second time I was slowing in traffic to stop at an upcoming traffic light and the most recent was backing out of a park spot. In addition to the sudden stops while in traffic it also has had hesitancy when starting from a stopped position. I have to restart the car while in traffic. Could seriously cause an accident to happen. Dealer found several CPM codes, completed an update and cleared the codes 2 days ago and now it happened again. Cabin filter, air filter were changed on 7.6.26 and the first time the car did this was a few days after that. So this has been happening for about 1 month.
NHTSA complaint 11758379Vehicle: 2023 Jeep Wagoneer Series II 4WD VIN: [XXX] I am reporting a significant vibration/shaking condition in my 2023 Jeep Wagoneer. At approximately 75 MPH, the vehicle develops a noticeable shudder/shake that can be felt while driving at highway speeds. The condition is repeatable and raises concerns about the stability and safety of the vehicle during normal interstate/highway driving. I am concerned because other Wagoneer owners have reported similar highway-speed vibration conditions. I would like the cause of this vibration properly identified rather than having it attributed to normal vehicle characteristics. The vehicle should be evaluated for possible tire/wheel road-force variation or runout, suspension components, propeller shaft/driveshaft, CV joints, transfer case/output components, or other driveline components that could produce a speed-related vibration. This vehicle also has a history of having been reacquired by the manufacturer pursuant to applicable state consumer warranty laws or to promote customer satisfaction, according to the CARFAX report I obtained after purchasing the vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA document this complaint and evaluate it along with other complaints involving highway-speed vibration/shaking in Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles. The vibration occurs at approximately 75 MPH and is repeatable during highway operation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11757661Pulling from a stop sign across two lanes of traffic into a median, the car shut off and then started back. When it started back there were multiple warning lights. Pulled out onto highway and when coming to the next turn, there were no power brakes. Had to use extreme pressure to slow the vehicle down to a stop. Turned the car off and then back on and most lights went off.
NHTSA complaint 11756883Problem occurs randomly and have not been able to consistently repeat results. Vehicle stops and shuts off and puts itself into park. Restart vehicle and it drives normally. It did this once pulling out of a parking lot into traffic, oncoming traffic was able to stop to avoid us. We brought it to the dealership to be looked at and they found nothing wrong. They did say codes were in the computer but since they weren’t active they couldn’t do anything about it. No lights stay on after the car is restarted. It has done this multiple times.
NHTSA complaint 11754803The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wagoneer. The contact stated that the vehicle intermittently went into park(P) and turned off while merging into traffic with the message "Stop/Start Required" displayed. The vehicle also shut off unexpectedly while idling in park(P). The contact was forced to restart the vehicle to resume normal operation. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer, and the failure was attributed to the gasoline in the fuel tank; however, the failure returned the following day. The same dealer later diagnosed the vehicle with a defective auxiliary battery inside the alternator. The dealer refused to honor the warranty, prompting the contact to seek repairs from an independent mechanic. The part to repair the vehicle was currently on a national backorder, and there was no estimated date for the parts to become available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but only directed the contact to a parts website; however, the necessary part could not be located. The vehicle remained unrepaired with the independent mechanic. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.
NHTSA complaint 11754036Temperature alert went off for too hot. Was stranded in North Carolina while driving for vacation. Had to get a rental while thermostat was replaced. This is a known and widespread issue yet no recall has been sent out.
NHTSA complaint 11752886I was driving on [XXX] and I noticed the battery meter started going down from 13 and ended at 9 and the vehicle shut of and put itself in Park while the vehicle was still moving. There were other cars behind me and the car would not restart. I had to get a jump and it restarted. The 48volt battery is faulty INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11752023Car will shudder and shut off while slowing down. The control panel will change to saying "Push start button to run." This has happened 50+ times, including while in slower traffic on the Interstate. It is very dangerous because I am stopped suddenly in traffic and have to restart the car and put it back in gear in order to move. Car has also started and run, but the control panel remains in the "push button to start" mode while driving, so none of the control panel is available. This is dangerous because I have no idea what my speed is.
NHTSA complaint 11750553While driving at low speed, the vehicle suddenly shut down completely without any warning. The engine lost power while I was cruising, causing the vehicle to stop responding. On separate occasions, the vehicle has also shut off while idling. This condition creates a serious safety concern because the vehicle can stall unexpectedly in traffic, increasing the risk of a collision. The issue has occurred multiple times and appears to be happening everytime i drive the vehicle. It started nov of 2025 up to now dealership cannot fix the problem.
NHTSA complaint 11749441Vehicle: 2023 Jeep Wagoneer Mileage at time of incident: 43,400 miles Component: Engine Cooling System / Thermostat Incident Description: This vehicle has experienced two separate thermostat failures since purchase. The first failure occurred the day after I purchased the vehicle, in April 2024, at only 104 miles. This time the vehicle overheated /stall pattern even after confirming coolant was at a sufficient level. The second failure occurred on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 43,400 miles. While driving with my wife, son, and son's friend as passengers, the temperature warning indicator activated, signaling an engine overheating condition. Shortly after, the engine lost power and stalled completely while the vehicle was in the middle of a busy intersection. With the engine off, I had no power assist for steering or braking, which made it extremely difficult to maneuver the vehicle out of the path of oncoming traffic. My family and I were nearly struck by other vehicles while attempting to get the disabled Wagoneer clear of the intersection. The recurrence of this failure at relatively low mileage (43,400 miles on a 2023 model) indicates a potential design or manufacturing defect in the cooling system, not an isolated incident. The second failure resulted in a complete loss of engine power in active traffic, creating an immediate safety hazard to my passengers and to other drivers on the road. Repair history: Failure #1: April 2024, 104 miles Failure #2: June 22, 2026, 43,400 miles Cost of most recent repair: Approximately $2,000
NHTSA complaint 11746047The vehicle will severely vibrate when traveling 60mph or higher. Faster speeds increase the vibration intensity. I used a vibration meter on the steering wheel and drove on a smooth highway. Multiple tests/results were all similar, the vibration meter would register up to 10.3 and avg in the mid 4s and 5s. A 5.8 equates to a Level VI Strong Earthquake on the Mercalli Intensity Scale. The vibration is so violent the steering wheel shakes uncontrollably causing a strong fear of losing control. We live in rural Nevada with open desert and spotty cell service for most of the drive from Pahrump NV to Las Vegas. We were afraid to drive the vehicle due to the handling issues, that something happening in the middle of nowhere. Jeep customer support denied, obstructed and overall refused to help. Was assigned to several agents and supervisors and after filing the initial report, message requests were rarely returned. I was ultimately told by Customer Care, “it was my problem not Jeeps”. The first dealership I went to refused to look at the car unless I paid them for unnecessary work I then went back to Jeep Only in Las Vegas (where I purchased vehicle) and they quickly acknowledged the severe vibration issue was a common problem and they have serviced this problem on many other Wagoneer’s in the past. I worked with Evan the Service Advisor and Tigh Pesicka the Service Manager and they assured me the problem was with Jeep’s paring of the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza tire and the Wagoneer. The Bridgestone was a passenger tire and the Wagoneer due to its weight needed light truck rated tires. Evan at Jeep Only recommended the Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires, I purchased them and it lessened the severity of the vibration. The dealership failed to get Jeep to cover the new tire, so they said I will have to pay for them and sue Jeep for reimbursement. A quick search you will find many examples of Wagoneer Owners with the same issue.
NHTSA complaint 11744885Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall; the 60 most recent are listed.
