Subject: URGENT – RAM 2500 Shutdown / Near Accident / Case #XXX Hey [XXX], The truck shut down AGAIN tonight, XXX, and I nearly got into an accident. I recorded another video and called RAM to open Case #XXX. I plan to return it tomorrow morning; please coordinate safe transport. This has been ongoing for approximately a year. My 2025 RAM 2500 intermittently shuts down while driving: the engine stops, the instrument cluster goes black, and the truck goes into Neutral, losing propulsion. Previous incidents occurred at approximately 20–80 mph, with the first within 800 miles of ownership. The instrument cluster was replaced around 16,000 miles following Stellantis engineering guidance. That did not fix it. Another shutdown occurred around 18,000 miles while transporting employees to [XXX], as documented in my August 3 summary. The dealership previously discussed a new STAR case and escalation to a Stellantis field specialist (“Top Gun”). Please confirm those actions, provide the STAR case number, and link the repair history and videos to RAM Case #XXX. I need immediate engineering escalation, a documented diagnostic plan, and a permanent, verified repair—not more trial-and-error parts replacement. Since previous failures reportedly left no fault codes, please consider long-term diagnostic logging to capture the event. I am willing to leave the truck for several weeks. My priority remains fixing it, but if Stellantis cannot resolve this, I expect a formal review of buyback or other resolution options. This is a serious, recurring safety issue that nearly caused an accident tonight. RAM’s response will directly affect our company’s future business with the brand. Driving by myself with no load at 12:15 in the afternoon with outside temperature at 80 degrees. Vehicle started to make a large screeching sound coming from engine bay. I pulled over into a parking lot and shut off engine. Vehicle continued to make screeching sound from engine bay; I opened hood to a billowing smoke that smelled like an electrical fire. Noise and significant smoke continued for several minutes with engine off and ignition in off position.

Our 2025 Ram Rebel stalled on a 55-mph curve on a busy freeway. Fearful, I deliberately drifted the vehicle to the right side of the road looking for an emergency lane. The truck regained momentum and I drove it another 10 miles. Coming to a stop, I heard mechanical griding and felt the truck shudder. I drove it home. My husband took the truck, and the same griding and shuddering happened to him twice over a 15-minute period while driving on surface streets less than 20 mph. The truck did not stall on him. -We have been told by the dealership that the transfer case failed. The dealership is working to fix it. -My safety and those riding in my vehicle were put at significant risk due to the stall on the freeway and a transfer case failure. -The problem was confirmed by an official Ram dealer where we purchased the vehicle. -The transfer case failure has been inspected but the reason for the stalling has not been identified. -A warning light "Service 4WD" turned on each time we heard the grinding sound but then turned off. We bought the vehicle new, have owned it 11 months and it has $15,000 miles. All services have been conducted according to the maintenance schedule.

The contact owns a 2025 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving after the dealer completed the recall repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V059000 (Exterior Lighting, Electrical System); a message asking whether the driver wanted to connect a fifth-wheel or a conventional trailer was displayed on the instrument panel, and a yellow triangle light with two wheels underneath a trailer was displayed. The contact stated that the message and warning light were illuminated while no trailer was connected to the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and assisted the contact in scheduling a service appointment with the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 6,500.

Vehicle experiences repeated intermittent engine shutdown while decelerating to a stop (approximately 3-4 mph). condition has occurred 10+ times since purchase ( Feb.2026). Vehicle currently has 5000 miles.Vehicle has been and is currently for the 3rd time at dealership for this safety issue. Dealer has involved STAR engineering. Issue has not been duplicated by shop tech but was captured on video by owner and given to dealership. This creates a safety concern due to unexpected loss of propulsion in traffic conditions

I have a 2025 ram 2500 diesel, and I use it to tow, as I am a farmer, and have a farm. I pull stock trailers, my tractor, and other trailers associated with my farm. I took my truck in for the trailer tow module recall to be done over 4 months ago, and they said they had to order the part and would call once it came in. It has now been over 4 months, I have called the dealer to follow up, and keep getting the same answer. The part hasn't arrived yet, and they will call me when it comes in. Every time I hook up a trailer it disables my trailer brakes, throws the AEB light on, and I am afraid, that in the instance I have to stop abruptly, that I may crash, and or hurt or even Kill someone due to these issues. I'm at a loss, they are worried about doing the trucks on the lot before they take care of the ones on the road per Jeremy at the Crain Ram dealership in Hot Springs, AR, which I don't feel is right to do. They got my money, now I have to deal with the issue, and potentially worse, until they get their unsold trucks done on the lot. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

  10. Filed May 26, 2026Failure Mar 31, 2026Elk Grove, CAElectrical system

I attempted to use the factory-equipped 110V power outlet located in the bed/rear area of my truck to power a laptop computer. After plugging in the device, I discovered that the outlet was not supplying any electrical power. The vehicle is equipped with a cargo light/power outlet activation button located beneath the steering wheel. Even with the button engaged and activated as intended, the outlet remained inoperative and provided no power output. Due to concerns regarding a possible electrical system defect, I brought the vehicle to the dealership for diagnosis and repair. After inspection, the dealership advised that a wiring-related issue was found and repaired in order to restore functionality to the outlet system. I am concerned that a wiring defect occurred on a brand-new vehicle and believe this reflects poor workmanship and inadequate quality control during manufacturing. In addition to this issue, my truck has experienced several other mechanical and electrical problems within only a few months of ownership. Because this issue involved the vehicle’s electrical system and required dealer repair shortly after purchase, I am requesting that NHTSA document and review this complaint for potential manufacturing or electrical system defects affecting this vehicle platform.

While operating my truck under normal driving conditions, the check engine warning light suddenly illuminated without warning. Due to concerns about potential vehicle reliability and safety, I immediately brought the vehicle to the dealership for diagnosis and inspection. After evaluating the vehicle, the dealership stated that diagnostic trouble codes were present and that additional analysis of the system would be required. The vehicle remained at the dealership for approximately one week before being returned to me. Upon release of the vehicle, the dealership advised that the issue was related to multiple erroneous codes and that a software update had been performed. However, the dealership did not provide a clear explanation as to why the codes were generated, what systems were affected, or whether the condition could reoccur. I was also not provided with a complete accounting of all diagnostic trouble codes identified during the inspection. I am concerned that the dealership failed to provide full transparency regarding the diagnosis and repairs performed on this vehicle. The repair order documentation was limited in detail and appeared to omit important information regarding the discovered fault codes and the full scope of work completed. Because modern vehicle systems rely heavily on electronic control modules and software for engine operation and safety-related functions, I am requesting that NHTSA document and review this issue for potential underlying electronic or software-related defects that may affect vehicle reliability and safety.

While operating my truck i have a air bag warning indicator come up on my cluster gage. With the light still one and engine running I immediately drove the vehicle to my local Ram dealer to seek assistance. I had spoken to a service advisor who checked my vehicle in for service. The service advisor did confirm the SRS light was on. After the tech did a diagnostic they found no stored service codes, the dealer cleared rhe codes, and said there was no issue and no repairs was performed. I find it very strange for the light to just randomly comon and there is no issues. I have reason to believe the dealership was not being transparent and did not provide the full scope of work performed on this truck.

I am filing a safety complaint regarding a persistent soft brake pedal condition affecting my truck. Under normal driving conditions and especially during low-speed braking with no trailer or payload attached, the brake pedal feels excessively soft and requires additional pedal travel before adequate braking response occurs. The authorized dealer inspected the vehicle and replaced the brake pads and resurfaced the rotors; however, the soft brake pedal condition continues unchanged. After further evaluation, the dealer stated that their engineer determined the vehicle is operating within factory specifications and declined to pursue any additional diagnosis or repairs. I use this truck for towing an RV, and due to the abnormal brake feel and reduced confidence in braking performance, I do not feel safe towing with this vehicle. As a result, the truck remains parked at my residence because I believe continued operation may present a safety risk. I have driven other trucks of the exact same year and model that exhibited significantly firmer and more responsive brake pedal feel, which leads me to believe my vehicle is not operating normally despite the dealer’s claims. In addition, I have found numerous online reports from other owners describing similar soft brake pedal complaints, including reports of lemon law claims and unresolved brake concerns. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue for potential brake system defects or inconsistent braking performance that could affect vehicle safety, particularly during towing or emergency braking situations.

I parked in a lot for about 30 minutes while taking a short hike. When I returned and started the truck the dash was black, no gauges, no PRND indication, nothing and the warning lights in the mirrors stayed illuminated continuously. We were in a National monument and decided to try and get back to the visitor center for someplace safe. When I placed the vehicle in what should have been reverse the vehicle rolled back but only because it was on a slope. When I shifted to where drive should be nothing happened. I tried several times as we were now in the traffic lane on a curve. I went completely back to park then cycled to drive and it worked. On the drive to the visitor center I noticed that the blinkers did not work either. Also, what I thought were manual gauges like the speedometer and fuel gauge did not work. When we got to the visitor center the vehicle would not shift into reverse from drive. I had to go back to park and then to reverse. I was able to get the vehicle working by disconnecting the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes. This just happened today and we are 1500 miles from home so the vehicle has not been inspected. If another car would have come around the corner while we were disabled they would have hit us as it is a one way loop so only one traffic lane that we were in.

On April 20, 2026, at approximately 3:30 PM, a 2025 Ram ProMaster operated as part of a commercial delivery fleet experienced a sudden vehicle fire while driving on a rural road near [XXX] [XXX] ). According to the driver, the vehicle drove over a small amount of corn husk debris on a low-maintenance gravel road, which is a normal and expected driving condition in this area. Immediately after, the vehicle became immobilized, and smoke and fire rapidly developed inside the vehicle and spread to the surrounding field. The driver exited the vehicle quickly and sustained second-degree burns and loss of facial hair. Emergency services responded, and approximately ten fire units were required to contain the fire. The driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The vehicle was a total loss. Notably, more than 24 hours after the initial incident, the vehicle reignited while being handled by a tow company. This incident does not appear consistent with normal operating risk. Driving over agricultural debris such as corn husks is a routine condition in rural Nebraska and should not result in catastrophic vehicle failure or fire. Additionally, another fleet operator in the same geographic market reported a nearly identical incident involving a 2025 Ram ProMaster less than one month prior. In that case, the vehicle also caught fire while being driven under normal rural road conditions. There is currently a known recall affecting 2025 Ram ProMaster vehicles. Given the similarity of incidents, severity of outcome, and potential pattern, this may indicate a broader safety defect. This event resulted in driver injury, complete vehicle loss, and damage to surrounding agricultural property. Immediate investigation into potential fire risk and defect in 2025 Ram ProMaster vehicles is strongly requested.
