Hood striker fasteners failed allowing hood to separate from striker at highway speed resulting in hood flying open, striking and damaging windshield and blocking view of driver. Photos from incident scene and subsequent dealer inspection agree on fastener failure as the striker was found fully latched into the retainers. Fortunately, driver was in an outer lane and able to navigate to shoulder and stop vehicle without further damage.

Started vehicle for first drive of the day and noticed the digital instrument cluster failed to display any information. The screen remained blank although the backlight was on. Turned the vehicle off and on, performed a reset, disconnected battery for more than an hour before reconnecting, checked fuses, etc., but the display did not correct. Unable to check speedometer, fuel levels, RPM, drive mode, etc. The vehicle has been taken to local Ford Dealership, buy was advised it would be several weeks before they could run diagnostics check.

This was a rental vehicle obtained from Budget at [XXX]. On XXX at approximately 2:45 p.m., while driving south toward [XXX], the Ford Expedition developed increasingly severe rumbling and shaking and became difficult to control. All occupants noticed the condition. We reduced speed and pulled off at the first safe available location at approximately 3:00 p.m. rather than continue driving. After stopping, we inspected the left-rear wheel and found a snapped wheel stud and a missing lug-nut position. Multiple actual threaded lug nuts were loose enough to be turned by hand. Budget roadside assistance dispatched a tow operator. The tow driver independently verified the snapped stud and multiple loose lug nuts and recorded the condition on video before tightening the loose lug nuts so the vehicle could be loaded for towing. The vehicle had approximately 77,000 miles. No crash occurred and no one was injured because we stopped driving once the vehicle became difficult to control. Our party included two young children in car seats. We do not know when or why the wheel stud fractured or why the remaining lug nuts became loose. We are reporting this because a wheel-fastener condition severe enough to cause substantial vibration and difficulty controlling the vehicle could create a serious risk of wheel separation or loss of control if it occurs in this vehicle or in similarly maintained vehicles. The rental vehicle VIN is [XXX]. We have photographs/video and are seeking the rental company's maintenance and inspection records. I recently discovered that the car seat harness is fraying on both sides. This is near the base (by hips of child in seat) where they enter the cushion and connect to the car seat. I think this is a defect and poses a risk, especially if I were to get in an accident. When I submitted a complaint with photos to Baby Jogger they replied "After reviewing the concern, please note that fraying is not considered a manufacturing defect. Fraying occurs gradually through normal use and wear over time rather than from a single incident and should be addressed before it gets worse. As a result, this type of condition is not covered under our warranty policy." They did offer a whopping $100 off an item over $500. In my opinion this should be remedied by the vendor.

Incident happened 06/26/2026. My wife was driving with our 4 kids down the highway to family event. My wife smelled a funny odor coming from the vents and was going to drive to the next exit and then noticed smoke. At that moment she wasn’t sure where the smoke was coming from. She put the hazards on and started pulling off to the shoulder thinking possibly it was the radiator. She came to a stop and called me (husband) that something was wrong with the vehicle. She was going to leave the kids in the car, get out and check the radiator. That’s when smoke started coming in through the air vents. She didn’t want the kids to breath in the smoke so they exited the vehicle, that’s when she noticed a fire under the engine. At that point a state trooper arrived on scene. He checked on my wife and kids and brought them back to his patrol car. The trooper went back to the vehicle to grab the baby’s diaper bag and wife’s purse. The trooper tried to extinguish the flames but the front of the vehicle was well involved already. Within 10-15 minute from my wife stopping the whole car was burnt to the ground and nothing left of the car. Looking back my wife only had a couple minutes to get to safety, had they lingered before getting out of the vehicle this could have been a tragic fatality incident. Our children do not feel safe riding in a vehicle since the incident happened. The safety of the trooper on scene was at risk helping get everyone to safety. It seems that something on the engine failed with how quickly the fire started. Vehicle can and should be inspected to find out what happened so this does not happen to another family. The vehicle has not been inspected yet. No warning lights ever came on. There was never any symptoms prior to this incident and the vehicle has been serviced by the dealer prior to and since we purchased the vehicle.

The spring for the door for the 4-flat trailer plug on vehicle is too powerful. This resulted in the door wearing away at the trailer plug and has resulted in the wires of the trailer light plug breaking. This is available upon request. It puts our safety at risk as our trailer lights can go out and result in less information for other drivers, possibly resulting in a rear-end crash. The problem has not been reproduced, and has not been inspected. The only symptom of the problem in the vehicle is it telling us the trailer was disconnected. The trailer was a 2020 Malone microsport trailer.

Several of automatic sensors were not working (tire pressure) and the horn. The dealer stated I had road damage and wires were torn loose. I'm a 76 year old woman and I do not take this car off road or have any recollection of such an incident. I maintain the underside of the vehicle is improperly protected. The third row seats both have reachable access to the third-row PowerFold buttons even in car seats. My two toddlers can easily reach the fold buttons while strapped in to their seats and are able to recline and move their seats forward and backwards. This caused major safety hazard because their car seats become loose. The buttons are placed very close to the third row seat and are accessible to 35 lb children to press and play with them. While strapped into their car seats, my children easily reached and both touched the buttons and loosened their car seats while the car was in motion and I was driving. There is no software setting or built-in dashboard switch to disable the third-row PowerFold buttons in a Ford Expedition. To prevent the seats from accidentally folding, the most effective permanent solutions are removing the associated fuse, disconnecting the physical wiring harness from the button panel, or physically blocking the switch. This is extremely dangerous and needs to be fixed

This is a report of a recurring, life-safety defect involving unintended vehicle movement in a 2024 Ford Expedition. The vehicle has experienced two separate incidents where it was placed in 'Park,' remained stationary for 13-30 seconds, and then began driving itself backward without driver intervention or throttle input. Incident 1: Occurred on March 29, 2026 and I have this one on video. Incident 2: Occurred on April 8, 2026. The video clearly shows the vehicle remaining stationary and in 'Park' for 13 seconds before the unintended movement begins. This delay proves the movement is not a 'start-up rocking' sensation or 'normal clutch drag,' but a delayed mechanical or electronic failure of the park actuator or transmission system. I presented the vehicle for service at a Ford dealership on April 17, 2026. Despite my report of a delayed-onset rollaway, the dealership documented the issue as a 'normal and desired characteristic' of the 10-speed transmission. They characterized the event as a minor 'rocking' sensation that occurs immediately, which is factually contradicted by my video evidence showing a 13-second delay. This leaves me with an unsafe vehicle prone to unintended movement. I am requesting a formal investigation into a potential park-engagement failure.

Since I purchased the vehicle brand new, none of the safety features have been functional. The following sensors are faulty and none of them have worked since I bought the vehicle: 1) Cross Traffic Alert; 2) Blindspot System Fault; 3) Pre-Collision Assist; 4) Front Camera Fault; 5) Parking Sensor Fault; 6) Lane Keeping Assistance. I tried to take the vehicle into the service department of the dealership to fix the problem several times, but as of this time, there has been no solution. The dealership said the problem cannot be fixed, because only Ford Corporation can create a computer software fix for the problem. I was instructed by the dealership not to bring the vehicle back for the same issues, because nothing can be done, and they will not touch it. However, Ford has failed to launch a computer software fix, since I had had the vehicle to 2 years. Since the dealership can't fix it and Ford can't fix it, I am stuck with a defective vehicle that is "Unsafe" to drive, because all of these safety features that are not functional help prevent and reduce the probability of motor vehicle accidents. Ford is refusing to help me and rejected my claim even though they can't fix it.

I bought this vehicle brand new in 2024 and none of the safety features are functional and can't be fixed. Ford corporation cannot find a a computer software fix for it and the dealership can't fix it. The vehicle in unsafe to drive. The following sensors are faulty and have continued to give failure alerts since I purchased the vehicle: 1) Cross Traffic Alert; 2) Blind Spot System Fault; 3) Pre-Collision Assist; 4) Front Camera Fault; 5) Parking Sensor Fault; 6) Lane Keeping Assistance, 7) Rear backup assistance. It is a safety hazard and unsafe to drive because none of the "Safety Warning" or "Driver Assistance" features work, that would help prevent accidents. For the past 2 years, I have been driving this defective vehicle that is a safety hazard, which is not repairable, nor is the vehicle marketable. I have tried to resolve this issue numerous times, but there is no solution. The dealership advised me to not bring it in for service again, because there is nothing that can be done. I tried to file a claim with Ford Corporate and requested they buy the vehicle back, because it meets the criteria and the elements under the Texas Lemon Law, regarding electrical and safety concerns. However, my claim was rejected. As of right now, there is no solution for this issue.

I have had my car at the dealership twice, once in August of 2025 and once in February of 2026 because when I start I get a warning, front collision assist malfunction, lane keep assist malfunction, blind spot monitoring malfunction, and as a result, I have no cruise control, even in normal cruise control mode. I have been told it’s an electrical update, and it was October, then January, now it’s March. Just saw a recall was issued for Navigator, Nautilus, Aviator, and Explorer with this exact problem, but no recall for the expedition.

Bought the car on Feb 14th 2026. We were told Avis car sales in fontana does their vehicle inspection on every car before its sold. We noticed the two back tires on the expedition were bald and showing cords. We told Tawnya and George about the tires and they said they would order them, they'd be in within two days and to bring the car back to get them replaced. When we got home we setup ford diagnostics and found out the oil life was at 29% so they also lied and sent us out with bad oil. We checked the dip stick and yeah super dark oil. We've called two days in a row and keep getting told they are busy and they will call us back, they have not. We have tried to reach corporate but they dont have a department for this. The vehicle is currently sitting because of how bad the tires are, its 100% not safe to drive. Trying to get the dealership to honor the safety fix they promised but they are avoiding it.
