The windshields are extremely prone to cracking and chipping. I am now in need of my fourth windshield from an acorn falling off a tree and hitting my windshield while going 25mph. I have had multiple Ford F150s and have never replaced a windshield, I have not changed my driving habits and every one has been from an extremely minuscule incident such as this. I know of at least three other F150 owners at my place of employment who have been through at least one windshield on their newer trucks as well. There is something wrong with these windshields.
NHTSA complaint 11768323While towing truck shifted harshly and turned on the indicator light (P1744). The truck started having metallic noises while in gear. Dealer inspected and found metal debris throughout transmission. Dealer replaced transmission.
NHTSA complaint 117681452024 Ford F150 Lariat caught fire on 9/25/2026 while driving vehicle. White smoke came out of engine compartment, then black smoke. Cab filled with white smoke, then black smoke. We exited vehicle. Flames came out of engine compartment. Within seconds flames & black smoke shot up 20' to our oak tree. Could hear "pops' going off while waiting for fire department. Firefighters stated sounds were from tires & air bags. Vehicle totally destroyed. Everything totally gone from engine compartment up to bed of truck. Left side of vehicle worse that right side. Left side mirror gone. Vehicle is available for inspection. Insurance company claim made. Adjuster hasn't contacted us yet. Police and fire department were here and reports were made. No warning lamps or messages prior to incident.
NHTSA complaint 11767122Re: Recurring Knock Sensor Failure — 2024 Ford F-150 STX (2.7L) I am writing to document a recurring mechanical issue with my 2024 Ford F-150 STX, 2.7L, currently at approximately 30,900 miles, purchased new. First Incident (late XXX): While driving, the check engine light illuminated, indicating a knock sensor fault. I brought the vehicle to Ted Britt Ford in [XXX], where it remained for five days for sensor replacement. I requested a loaner vehicle, which the dealership stated was unavailable, requiring me to rent a replacement vehicle at my own expense. Second Incident (XXX): Following a period of heavy rainfall, the check engine light returned with an identical knock sensor fault. The vehicle was again taken to the same dealership and held for five days for repair. When I again requested a loaner, I was informed one could not be provided because the vehicle was not originally purchased at that dealership. Rental Costs: Across both repairs, I have incurred rental vehicle expenses for a combined 10 days due to the dealership's lack of loaner availability. Suspected Root Cause: Based on the pattern of failures — particularly the correlation with heavy rain — I believe water may be intruding into the engine compartment through the hood cowl area and affecting the knock sensor. I have found numerous other reports from Ford F-150 owners describing similar symptoms, which suggests this may be a broader design or manufacturing issue rather than an isolated incident. Concerns: Given that this is a low-mileage, recently purchased vehicle experiencing the same failure twice within approximately three to four months, I am concerned this issue will recur once the vehicle is out of warranty, at which point repairs would no longer be covered. I believe this pattern warrants investigation, and potentially a recall, given the apparent frequency of similar complaints among other owners. NHTSA complaint 11766816The seat belt will not latch when I insert the tongue normally. It will only click into the buckle if I hold the release button down while inserting it. This is the back seat behind the driver seat.
NHTSA complaint 11762334The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that following an unsuccessful Over-the-Air (OTA) software update, the display screen and instrument panel were constantly rebooting, with a loss of functionality for several electrical features. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where technicians associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V104000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting). After several service repairs and the inclusion of a field service engineer, the vehicle remained unrepaired and had been with the dealer for over two months. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact with a case number. The contact was not provided any status updates because the master technicians were on extended leave. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
NHTSA complaint 11762243The rear window of my 2024 Ford F-150 XLT violently exploded without warning. I was actively entering the truck when the explosion occurred. There was no collision, or object that stroked the glass. The extremely loud explosion terrified me, and because I initially did not know what had occurred, I contacted police. I have a police report of the incident. The failed component was the rear window/rear glass assembly. The shattered glass and vehicle were available for inspection following the incident and was towed to Ford. The sudden failure presented a serious safety risk because I was at the driver's seat when the glass exploded. I could have sustained significant lacerations from the glass. Other occupants could also potentially be injured. The failure has not been independently reproduced. The failure was directly observed by me, and the police were contacted immediately following the incident. I have reported the incident to Ford. Ford has been notified of the failure, but I have not received an adequate explanation establishing why the rear window suddenly exploded. I have subsequently researched similar reports involving Ford F-150 rear-window failures and discovered other consumer complaints describing sudden or unexplained rear-window shattering, including reports raising concerns regarding the rear defroster and/or associated electrical components. I did not use a rear defroster - the car was off. This raises concerns about whether Ford has adequately investigated a potential recurring defect and whether consumers should have been warned. The vehicle had had no warning lamps. This incident occurred on a vehicle purchased new in 2024. I have also experienced another major problem with the vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether sudden rear-window failure in the Ford F-150 represents a safety defect, whether Ford had prior notice of similar failures, and whether additional investigation, consumer notification, or a safety recall is warranted.

NHTSA complaint 11758506Safety recall 25V512 has been open and unfulfilled for nearly a year. The dealer says parts are not available and cannot provide a date when they will be. I can’t believe Ford cannot get parts for a critical recall but can still produce over 1/2 million new trucks annually.
NHTSA complaint 11754646Purchased new vehicle May 2024 primarily for towing my recreational vehicle (2024 Ford F150 Pickup). June 2024 took vehicle to dealership indicating that I was intermittently getting a "Trailer Disconnect" warning while driving (loss of trailer brakes, lights etc.). Dealer indicated no issue found. Subsequently returned to dealership on 6 other occasions over 2 years after continuing to experience the failure. Replaced 7 pin connector on trailer and dealer has replaced the 7 pin on vehicle and Trailer Control Module (TCM) but problem persists. Early 2026 dealership performed a recall on TCM software - did not resolve the issue (vehicle intermittently indicates the trailer is disconnected while driving or manually activating the trailer brakes). Issue seems to occur typical on startup after several hours of driving with a trailer (heat related), and every time activate the trailer brakes manually. I get a "Trailer Disconnect" warning by activating the manual trailer brake even without a trailer attached. Working with Ford Customer Service Team and the dealership for 7 days, no solution was discovered. The dealership indicated (in writing) that it is normal operation to disconnect the trailer when the TCM is activated manually (while driving or stopped).
NHTSA complaint 11754300The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH, the steering wheel locked up and the vehicle stalled, and it rolled across an intersection and then stopped. The vehicle failed to restart. The contact stated that a tow truck arrived, and the tow truck driver could not shift into drive (D), but the vehicle was towed from the scene. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
NHTSA complaint 11752582The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NTHSA Campaign Number: 25V512000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
NHTSA complaint 11750258While driving in Sport mode on an interstate, during descending downhill, the transmission started down shifting. At that time near the bottom of the hill was standing water on an area. It was suddenly like hitting the brakes & I hydroplaned, but luckily I never touched the brakes. The down shifting at the same time as hitting the water caused the vehicle to loose control of the road. Luckily I regained control by steering and did not wreck. There should be a safety warning on this issue or a correction in the vehicle down shifting
NHTSA complaint 11749840Almost all functions connected to the steering column quit working. I do not have working turn signals, high beams or wipers, unless the wipers are on high. None of the functions on the steering wheel work. It seems like a safety issue to not have functioning turn signals or properly finctioning wipers and high beams. No lamps or warnings.
NHTSA complaint 11747895Vehicle was in Ford dealership’s service bay for an oil change service and reportedly caught fire inside the cab behind the dash due to an electrical system malfunction. The service technician stated that it was on the rack and just spontaneously caught fire inside the cab in the dash behind the infotainment system.
NHTSA complaint 11747813The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle before the vehicle became difficult to maneuver, and the front passenger’s side of the vehicle crashed into a curb. No warning lights were illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. A Police report was filed. No injuries were sustained. Medical attention was not needed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer; however, the cause of the failure was unknown. The vehicle was later diagnosed; however, the diagnostic result was unknown. Additionally, the steering column and several other unknown parts were replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,500.
NHTSA complaint 11747199VIN # [XXX] Ford Customer Service Current Case Number: [XXX] Integrated Trailer Module Failure after recall completion. NHTSA Campaign ID Recall # 26C10 was completed at Coconut Point Ford in Florida on 3/26/2026. This recall identified that when towing a trailer, the integrated Trailer Module may lose communication with the trailer possibly causing a loss of brake and turn signal lights or a loss of brake function. On [XXX] in the middle of a seriously steep and dangerous decent, the system reported that the trailer was disconnected from the truck causing, loss of trailer brake control which in turn cause a reliance on the truck. The antilock brake system failed moments later. I had to literally stand on the brakes to slow down to keep from going over the side of the mountain. At the end of the dirt road where it Ts onto the highway we could not stop. We travel with a 23 foot 2019 Vintage Cruiser manufactured by Gulf Stream. That weighs approximately 5200 lbs empty; I have a Cat Scale reading of 4840 pounds from a 12/6/24 weight with my previous truck. We do not travel with any water in our Black, Grey or Fresh Water tanks so even fully loaded we are still well within specs for this trucks towing capacity. The brake control on the truck was set to 5. Faricy Boys Ford in Canon City Colorado, verified that a recall had been completed and worked on the truck for 3 full days, testing many things including tailgate malfunctions and miscellaneous electrical systems trying to replicate the problem, no dealer has been able to replicate the problem. They finally replaced all the brakes and rotors as well as flushing the brake system. I respectfully requested that Ford Motor Company assign the review of this case to a regional Customer Service Manager / Engineer to review the complete repair history of this vehicle, via registered mail. We haven heard anything yet. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The dealer was contacted, the contact was informed that the parts were unavailable. The contact stated that he later received another recall notification, stating that the parts were unavailable. The dealer was contacted again. The contact was informed that the parts were on back order. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the parts were unavailable. The contact had not experienced any failure regarding the unrepaired recall repair.
NHTSA complaint 117450862024 Ford F150 tremor 14,000 miles The gearshift modual locks into position and locks the transmission (light blinking and transmission light shows on dashboard) You cannot shift to park or start the car, it will do this in drive or reverse and locks the transmission. A hard reset does not solve the issue. The First time this happened l was with my wife and two young children in the mountains around 30miles from cell service. This is a major safety issue. The dealership cannot replicate it, and therefore wont replace it even though it is a known issue. tsb 26-2066 I do have a video of this happening. Fortunately the second time this happened I was close to home. The vehicle occasionally leaves us stranded due to an un-replicated transmission lock flaw.
NHTSA complaint 11744821The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance system failed to function properly. The contact stated that while driving in traffic, after being cut off by another vehicle, the Forward Collision Avoidance system failed to detect or alert the driver of the issue, or activate the Forward Collision Avoidance Automatic Emergency Braking feature. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Ford dealer on two separate occasions due to the failures. During the first visit, the service department performed a diagnostic test but was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was instructed to return if the failure persisted. During the second service visit, a technician performed a road test with the contact and successfully verified that the ADAS safety features were inoperable. The technician and the contact performed identical test drives on four brand new 2026 Ford F-150 vehicles at the dealer and experienced similar failures with the Forward Collision Avoidance system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.
NHTSA complaint 11744277Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall; the 60 most recent are listed.
