My car would not start so I had it towed to the Ford Dealership where I bought the car - The car would not start even though the battery had power - it also had a burning wire smell which is consistent with the recall The dealer has not looked at the car since it was towed to them on 9/3/26
NHTSA complaint 117683372024 Ford Mustang has shown severe defects since September of 2025. Vehicle has been in and out of shop every month since first incident of vehicle going completely dead without cause or warning. Vehicle has since produced escalating engine misfires, loss of acceleration while driving on highway, and occasional antifreeze seeping through a/c vents on startup. Dash has started to glitch upon startup as well and fuel economy has dropped 7mpg in one month. Every Ford dealership I have went to for repairs, except for Town and Country Ford, has told me, "there's no issue with your vehicle". After a year of issues that are getting worse, and trying to receive answers from my Ford case manager, I went to check on any recalls myself and found there is a recall for my vehicle that has no remedy until December 21st, 2026. Ford case manager did not inform me of any recalls, my Ford app does not display any active recalls, and no dealership has made me aware either. When asked why I didn't receive a letter of notice, Ford Motor Company said, "it got lost in the mail I suppose and we can't send it again". My vehicle is getting increasingly worse and it can not remain in current condition for another 3 months.
NHTSA complaint 11767404Bought the car in XXX noticed mold on the passenger floor board, non Ford dealer said window must of been left down made sense at time. They cleaned mold up. Drove it today in the rain noticed water on floor did my research found out it had a recall of 25C43 or NHTSA 25V546. Went to my dealer they said it was inspected in Dec and closed as complete with another dealership. Obviously it’s not fixed correctly because water is still running into the floor board and across the BCM. I did a water test of my own on XXX. I removed the passenger side kick plate ran the hose on the cowl off the car waited 6-10 minutes saw water intruding into the car, which proves repair was not completed properly. My problem is the dealer won’t touch it without me paying because it’s a closed recall on there end. I called Ford Corporate they told me it’s been completed in December to pay dealer and have it fixed and keep receipts and see if I’m eligible for a refund. Not holding my money hostage for there recall. This is a major safety recall that Ford is suppose to fix free of charge. I as the consumer should not have to pay for a diagnostic test to get this resolved. I’m going back to dealer tomorrow. I spoke with was [XXX] of Kingsport. I have both a dealer and Ford corporate selling me to pay out of pocket. Totally unacceptable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11766775My vehicle is subject to Ford safety recall 26C40 / NHTSA recall 26V547. I contacted an authorized Ford dealership to have the recall remedied. The dealership confirmed in writing that the recall is currently under Advance Notice and that Ford has not yet provided dealers with the remedy or technical repair instructions. Therefore, the dealership cannot perform the recall repair at this time. NHTSA’s recall lookup currently shows the status as “Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available” and states that the remedy is anticipated to be available on December 21, 2026. I am willing to have the recall repair performed immediately when the remedy becomes available. I am filing this complaint because the manufacturer is currently unable to remedy this open safety recall. I have written correspondence from an authorized Ford dealer confirming that no repair can currently be performed.
NHTSA complaint 11765731The contact owns a 2024 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, shifted to park(P) and waited five minutes, and restarted the vehicle. The failure was a recurring failure. Additionally, the vehicle lost windshield washer fluid pump functionality and days later by the check engine warning light illuminated due to a weak or failing battery. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V547000 (Electrical System). The dealer was contacted but was unable to reproduce failure and stated that vehicle needed a software update. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 27,500.
NHTSA complaint 11765084*While driving at a normal, non-excessive speed, another vehicle began pulling out of a neighborhood ahead of me. I attempted to slow down, but the vehicle did not respond to braking as expected — it continued moving despite my attempt to stop. When I tried to turn the steering wheel to avoid the situation, the wheel felt stuck/resistant and did not respond normally. As a result, I began sliding and lost control, crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic. I was able to regain enough control of the steering to pull back into my own lane. Fortunately, there was no oncoming traffic at that moment, or this could have resulted in a head-on collision. Weather conditions were dry and clear; it was not raining. This occurred after I received a recall notice (NHTSA Recall 26V547 / Ford Compliance Recall 26C40) for my vehicle stating that engine wire harness grounds may fAil. potentially causing loss of motive power, and that Ford does not currently have a remedy available. I reported this incident to Ford shortly after it occurred.
NHTSA complaint 11764864The manufacturer marked Safety Recall 25C43 as completed on this VIN. However, the remedy has failed. The vehicle is currently suffering from the exact safety hazard described in NHTSA Campaign 25V546000 (water intrusion, wiring harness corrosion, and total taillight failure). The authorized dealer refuses to re-service the vehicle because the recall is marked 'complete' on the VIN, and Ford Corporate has denied goodwill assistance and failed to fulfill scheduled manager callbacks. The vehicle remains an active safety hazard on public roads.
NHTSA complaint 11764257Restraint indicator lamp warning. The restraint control module has detected a fault with the passenger airbag.
NHTSA complaint 11763251The contact owns a 2024 Ford Mustang. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V547000 (Electrical System); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and accelerating, the vehicle jumped and hesitated before accelerating. The contact stated the “Service Vehicle” warning light illuminated, and the message of an electrical wiring failure was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was first diagnosed with power train failure. The power train system was reset; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was returned to the dealer to be diagnosed, and the failure was associated with the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
NHTSA complaint 11761510I am extremely disappointed with Ford’s handling of my situation and the lack of customer support for what appears to be a premature major component failure. I own a 2024 Ford Mustang GT with only 56,022 miles. While driving, my air conditioning suddenly stopped blowing cold air. I took the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership, where it was diagnosed with a catastrophic A/C compressor failure. The compressor had internally locked up, sending metal shavings throughout the A/C system. I was told the repair would require replacing the compressor, expansion valve, desiccant, belt, flushing the system, and recharging the A/C, with an estimated cost of nearly $5,000. I contacted Ford Customer Relationship Center and requested goodwill assistance because this is a 2024 vehicle and this type of catastrophic failure should not happen at only 56,000 miles. I explained that I had only owned the vehicle for approximately 7,000 miles after purchasing it used with around 49,000 miles. Unfortunately, I was simply told that there was nothing Ford could do because the vehicle was outside of the basic warranty. There was no meaningful effort to review the circumstances, no offer of partial assistance, and no indication that Ford was willing to stand behind what appears to be an unusually premature failure of a major factory component. I understand warranties have limits, but customer service should go beyond simply reading warranty terms. A compressor that fails catastrophically and contaminates the entire A/C system on a vehicle this new is not something most owners would reasonably expect. I wasn’t asking Ford to ignore its warranty—I was asking the company to stand behind its product through goodwill assistance for an unusual failure. This experience has left me questioning Ford’s commitment to customer satisfaction. When a major component fails unexpectedly on a relatively new vehicle, customers deserve more than a quick denial. I expected better from a company with Ford.
NHTSA complaint 11754503I bought a new 2024 Mustang in 11/2024 from Town & Country Ford in Port Arthur, Tx. Days after the purchase, I recieved a voicemail to return asap and was told by the owner that I would recieve a gift card if I did. I didn't understand why at the time, as it wasn't explained. Unfortunately, I was unable to return because the dealership is 4 hours drive from my residence. That was the last I heard anything. Recently, in 6/2026 I noticed that there were 2 active recalls in the Ford app. I then made an appointment with my local dealership, Tyler Ford in Tyler, Tx and the recalls were performed. The service tech at the Tyler dealership advised me then that there was no warranty start date entered in the system from when the vehicle was purchased and that he could not enter the recall information, nor could he perform any future warranty work. The week after, I noticed a crack in my passenger tailight and took it to the Tyler dealership. The same service tech (Vegas) advised that they couldn't do anything because of the warranty service date issue. Myself and Vegas have attempted multiple times over a 3 week period to have this date entered by Town & Country. Further research finds that there was a stop sale recall on the Mustang issued 10/2024 24C35 for the IPC screen that was not performed prior to its sale to me 11/2024 and now the dealership management is attempting to cover it up. I've spoken with the dealership warranty person (DeMarcus) and he has advised that management is aware and he has relayed the info several times. Nonetheless, aside from their violation of federal law and elusive cover up, I am seemingly without warranty coverage and forced to drive un unsafe vehicle because the turn signal does not operate due to penetrating water damage into the light housing. Town & Country says they will enter the date when the recalls are entered, but Tyler says they can't enter the recalls until the warranty start date is entered.
NHTSA complaint 11751918Hello, the tire blew out on the interstate and is only at 25k mileage. Warranty stated is 40k mileage and I’m an extremely safe driver, I bought the car brand new with the tires on it
NHTSA complaint 11749942Infotainment system flickers/goes blank even after being repaired at Ford Service center. Back up camera unavailable and anything controlled by touchscreen does not work
NHTSA complaint 11746325The contact owns a 2024 Ford Mustang. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V546000(EXTERIOR LIGHTING); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted and it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who confirmed corrosion was present. The failure mileage was 11,000.
NHTSA complaint 11741353Rear view mirror came away from windshield when adjusting. Resulted in damaged windshield that needed to be replaced. Shards of glass in the vehicle. Replacement cost from Safelite around $1000 (It seems that the glass wasn't correctly laminated, meaning the top later peeled away easily with the mirror mount
NHTSA complaint 11735446I purchased this vehicle CPO and shortly after purchase the vehicle experienced a major mechanical failure involving the clutch/transmission. The vehicle had a prior safety recall (Recall #24S36) listed as “completed” before I purchased it. However, the issue has now reoccurred despite that recall being marked as repaired. The dealership is now claiming the failure is due to “wear and tear,” but the failure occurred after only approximately 1,000 miles of driving since purchase, which raises concern that the defect existed prior to sale or that the recall repair was not properly completed. The vehicle is currently unsafe to drive due to the risk of sudden loss of power and drivability issues. I do not feel safe operating the vehicle. I am requesting that this issue be investigated as a potential recall-related defect or improper recall repair, as it poses a safety risk.
NHTSA complaint 11732865I am filing a safety complaint regarding an open manufacturer recall on my vehicle that has not been completed despite being scheduled for repair. On or about 2/16/2026, I scheduled the recall repair with an authorized dealership/service center. The repair was accepted and scheduled; however, the repair has not been completed to date. It has now been approximately 50 days (or more) since the scheduled appointment, and the recall remedy remains unresolved. Despite multiple attempts to follow up, the repair has not been performed, and no reasonable timeline has been provided for completion. This ongoing delay leaves the vehicle in an unrepaired condition subject to a known safety-related recall issue. Safety Concern: The unresolved recall defect presents a potential safety risk, as the manufacturer has identified the issue as significant enough to warrant a recall. The continued delay in remedy increases the risk of operating a vehicle with a known safety defect. Dealer / Manufacturer Response: •Recall repair was scheduled and acknowledged by the dealer - suburban ford of Ferndale. •Repair has not been completed after an extended period. •No adequate resolution timeline has been provided. •Communication regarding the delay has been insufficient. Impact: •Vehicle remains in an unsafe or potentially unsafe condition. •Loss of use / inability to rely on manufacturer recall remedy. •Unreasonable delay in addressing a safety recall. Requested Action: I am requesting that NHTSA: •Review this matter as a potential failure to timely remedy a safety recall •Ensure the manufacturer and/or dealer fulfills its obligations to complete the recall repair promptly •Investigate whether systemic delays or failures are occurring in the recall remedy process Additional Notes: This issue is not merely about the existence of a recall, but rather the failure to complete a scheduled recall repair within a reasonable timeframe after acceptance by the dealership.
NHTSA complaint 11729817I was driving one day when I began to hear a knocking sound on my vehicle. I then took the time to look up the recall on my current vehicle and it had mentioned “Rear Suspension Knuckles (24S49): Certain vehicles have defective rear suspension castings that can fail, leading to loss of vehicle control”. I just got off the phone with Ford and they expressed me how I do not have that recall under my vin however I am experiencing the exact same description of what is going on and I am trying to get it looked at, but when I told them that I need this issue resolved before something major happens to my vehicle. They had told me that I had to pay for the diagnostic fee as well as it may not be covered once it is fixed. The sound has only got louder and I am afraid I will be driving and something serious will happen.
NHTSA complaint 11728343My 2024 Ford Mustang has been experiencing a serious mechanical issue that the manufacturer has been unable to repair. The vehicle has been at the dealership for an extended period because a defective component cannot be replaced. Ford acknowledged that the required part has not yet been manufactured. The vehicle has remained unresolved for over five months. This creates a potential safety concern because the vehicle cannot be reliably used or repaired.
NHTSA complaint 11722053On [XXX], multiple electrical systems on my 2024 Ford Mustang suddenly failed while the vehicle was in normal operation. The following systems stopped functioning: HVAC/climate control, heated seats, outside temperature display, rear turn signals, and blind spot monitoring. No prior warning lights were displayed before the failure. These failures significantly compromised safety because the rear turn signals and blind spot monitoring stopped working without warning while driving. Loss of exterior signaling and driver-assistance systems created a risk of collision. The lack of HVAC also created visibility concerns due to inability to defog windows. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Ford dealer the same day. The dealer confirmed the issue, diagnosed water intrusion into the Body Control Module, and stated that the failure is linked to an open Ford recall regarding BCM water intrusion. The dealer has had the vehicle since 10/21/25, and the BCM and related components remain available for inspection. The repair has been delayed for nearly two months, and the dealer reports they are “waiting on engineering approval” from Ford with no estimated completion date. The defect has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer but has not yet been repaired. The manufacturer has not inspected the vehicle directly, and no police or insurance inspection has occurred. The safety risk remains significant because BCM failure disables multiple critical signaling and monitoring systems without warning. NHTSA complaint 11704736Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall; the 60 most recent are listed.
