While driving on the streets the powertrain module gave out. It started to jerk around 30 mph and then just would not go.
NHTSA complaint 11762442Engine failure with fire. Fully engulfed within seconds. Police and fire on site. AAA insurance No prior issues with vehicle
NHTSA complaint 11760719The Ford Maverick is subject to rodent invasions which caused an engine fire. We had to file a State Farm Insurance Claim ($4016.36 of repairs done to repair the engine including electrical, emission system, cowl, fuel system, and insulation.) This was completed XXX. We have been faithfully spraying the engine with Rodent Repellent, using Natural Repeller packs, and rat snap traps. We have regularly checked the engine to see if they have come back. Yesterday, XXX, low and behold there was evidence of rat/mice droppings, insulation, food, nesting, etc. We again have spent time and money to clean the engine and use the above-mentioned products to try to protect the engine. After moving the truck, again on XXX, there was new evidence. We treated again. This is causing us stress. This should be a recall and Ford made to remedy. Sincerely, [XXX] and [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11758093While driving my 2022 Ford Maverick on a public road, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration and would not respond normally when I pressed the accelerator. I was left in the roadway and could not safely continue driving, creating a risk of being struck by other traffic. The vehicle was later inspected by a Ford dealership and diagnosed with a major internal transmission failure at approximately 62,000 miles. The Ford dealership recommended a rebuilt/replacement transmission. The vehicle remains available for inspection. I did not have advance warning that the transmission was about to fail.
NHTSA complaint 11757780I had stopped at an intersection and when I applied the gas, the truck stuttered a bit before going. It ran okay for less than a mile. I stopped at the next intersection and when I applied the gas, the truck shuttered, started to go then just stopped. It stayed running but didn't want to go. I was able to get it through the intersection but that was it. The message i am getting is powertrain malfunction/reduced power. When we put our diagnosis tool on it, we get code P0757.
NHTSA complaint 11752946The driver's side (left front) door failed at the check-arm attachment point inside the door assembly: the spot welds securing the check-arm reinforcement bracket to the inner door structure cracked and separated. The vehicle is a commercial fleet 2022 Ford Maverick XL SuperCrew with approx. 82,000 miles. The vehicle and failed component are available for inspection upon request. First symptoms were difficulty opening and closing the door with popping/cracking noises. No warning lamps or messages occurred; the failure is concealed inside the door. This is a safety risk because the check arm attachment supports the door's structure. The same weld separation on related vehicles has been documented by NHTSA (investigation PE23-013) to cause doors that fail to latch, fail to stay closed, or open while driving, risking occupant ejection and injury. The failure was confirmed 7/17/2026 by Grapevine Collision Center (Grapevine, TX) after a Ford dealership stated there is no recall or warranty coverage for the Maverick and referred me there. The shop diagnosed broken check-arm welds and quoted $2,602.46 for a door shell replacement, noting it has seen this identical failure on Ford Escapes and Lincoln Corsairs. Not inspected by Ford, police, or insurance. This is the same failure mode NHTSA investigated on 2020-2021 Escapes (PE23-013), which Ford addressed via Customer Satisfaction Program 23B56 covering 2020-2023 Escapes. The Maverick shares the same C2 platform and door design but is excluded, leaving owners to pay out of pocket for a defect Ford repairs free on sibling vehicles.
NHTSA complaint 11751291I am filing a formal safety defect complaint regarding a severe catastrophic transmission failure on my 2022 Ford Maverick ( 2.0L EcoBoost 8f35 8 speed transmission ) that poses an immediate safety hazard to occupants and sharing traffic. Upon inspection a heavy volume of metal shavings flakes were discovered also the code PO73D unable to engage in neutral came up. The safety risk of this specific failure is extreme because the vehicle is physically unable to respond to a neutral command the driver cannot clear or cut engine power to the drive wheels during an emergency mechanical malfunction or a potential unintended acceleration event. Furthermore because the metal debris the truck exhibits severe erratic shifting behavior and a persistent risk of sudden high speed wheel lockup drivetrain binding or stalling inactive traffic. Ford motor company is fully aware of this component failure despite my vehicle exhibiting the exact failure mode the exact code PO73D and metal debris found has refused financial responsibility I urge the NHTSA to upgrade this known issue to a mandatory safety recall
NHTSA complaint 11746600Due to go to dealership to inspect steering wheel
NHTSA complaint 11745687Transmission started slipping. Not wanting to pull in drive or reverse
NHTSA complaint 11741076NHTSA #26V104: I purchased this vehicle to rent it out on Turo (a vehicle sharing platform). It was de-listed from Turo on March 18 due to NHTSA #26V104 recall being unresolved. I have been unable to rent my vehicle since then and Ford has not provided a remedy to this recall. I would like to log a complaint that this software fix remedy has taken too long.
NHTSA complaint 11740980Ford has 25N09 addressing the axles for the 2022 Ford Mavericks built later in the 2021 year, but mine was built in September of 21. I have axle issues as well, and this is the first vehicle I've ever had that's this new and has clunking in the CV axles. Mine clunks loudly, and the truck has 114k on it.
NHTSA complaint 11740369The chrome tips on the window switch fell off and jammed itself in the switch, in the on position for the passenger window. These exact parts are already on recall for different Ford models but it is the same part number being used.
NHTSA complaint 11739007I was trying to turn and the wheel kept kicking back the other direction. About a week prior to this as I was driving down the road all of a sudden the wheel threw me across a median and into incoming traffic almost causing multiple accidents. I have a video of it but it won’t allow me to upload it. [XXX] However this link should play it. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint 11737585When we brought it in for first oil change at the dealership ; when we got it back it had a broken axle which they tried to say we just needed new tires , after contacting service manager and he and I go for a ride in it they kept it for several weeks and put over 300 miles on it and got ford engineering involved to determine the cause was broken axle. It has been replaced again since then supposedly by a recall but it feels like it is broken again ! Ford took some shortcuts and used inferior parts, infrastructure etc , we had tremendous problems with the battery to which they said their shouldn’t be any reason for this be happening loss of power loss of electrical display and distribution finally I just had to replace the battery on my own because they refused to accept responsibility 4-6 months later a recall for the batteries was issued. The axles on the truck are not sufficient and they are not taking care of it properly! I would also like to report that they cut so many corners on the Maverick that the tailgate just drops no shock absorber nothing just slams on the bumper very dangerous! & They also chose to leave many open” holes” where mud rocks , leaves etc get into the front quarter panels from the hood area at the corner of windshield . So this wet material gets trapped in there n I’m sure will eventually affect the structural integrity of the panel - maybe rust through! Same thing happens with the tailgate fills with debris from bed , rear wheel wells also have a whole. I just wish ford would go back to how Henry Ford ran the company ! Help NHTSA
NHTSA complaint 11736807Vehicle started experiencing loss of power while driving on the highway. After having it towed to the local Ford dealership, we were informed that our transmission was shot and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had 62k miles on and no dash light warning and no ford pass warnings about the issue. It cost us $7k to replace and 4 months without the vehicle.
NHTSA complaint 11733606"Powertrain System Fault" was given from App, "service engine soon" on dash along with check engine light and "wrench". Dealership said Hybrid battery needs replaced. Dealership said "We don't know what the battery issue will effect if it does go bad." Corporate says "wear and tear item after 36000 miles or 3 years". I have also had to replace the 12V battery this year. I do not see how both batteries can "go bad" within 4 years of manufacturing... Online says truck could go into limp mode with no warning. Truck is available for inspection upon request. If truck will go into limp mode with no warning, could cause many safety issues. Problem initially occurred 3 days ago. Dealership cleared codes and has not happened again. Vehicle has only been inspected by dealership Only issue with electrical before EV battery was the 12V battery that went bad and had to be replaced. Went to start up the truck one afternoon (had been driving all day before this) and the lights on the dash popped on and the "Service Engine Soon" popped up and beeped. Drove it home that Saturday and did not drive it until dropped it off at dealership Monday morning. There must be something electrically causing problems since I just replaced my 12V battery about 6 months ago and now the EV battery is "bad". I've never heard of a Ford 12V battery not lasting at least 8 years. Multiple people I know have original 12V batteries in vehicles 2018 and older... Batteries should not be considered a "wear and tear item" batteries should be covered under their own warranties. Having basically no warranty on batteries poses a severe health risk with the disposal and creation of the old and new batteries.
NHTSA complaint 11732652When the battery voltage suddenly drops the vehicle loses its power steering making slow speed turns extremely difficult. This poses a serious risk of the inability to control the direction of the vehicle and this makes a crash extremely probable.
NHTSA complaint 11732082There is a Ford Customer Satisfaction Program, 25N09 issued September 2025 which covers half shaft replacement for Mavericks manufactured from 12/01/21 through 11/23/22. The upgraded beefier replacement half shafts were not available until late 2024. The program states that if the half shafts on one side fails that that both half shafts are to be replaced. My 2022 Maverick was manufactured 11/21/2021 (the second month of production), a mere 10 days before the initial date of coverage. The half shaft on one side was replaced on 01/10/25 with the upgraded version of the half shaft under warranty. They did not replace the other side. If the beefier replacement half shafts were not available until late 2024 how am I to believe that my Maverick does not have the same under engineered pieces in the other 68,000 2022 Mavericks?
NHTSA complaint 11728142Per a video posted on LinkedIn on March 20, 2026 by Chris Hackney, a Fountainhead Logistics Class 8 tractor displaying a Texas License plate on the front bumper & equipped with the Kodiak Robotics "Kodiak Driver" autonomous system was pulling three 40' belly dump trailers used to transport frac sand on an unknown public roadway in the West Texas Permian Basin in violation of Texas State law which prohibits triple trailers on public roadways. I can't confirm that the movement of the triple trailers shown in the video actually occurred on a public roadway vs a private lease road in the oil & natural gas fields where Fountainhead Logistics operates. I request NHTSA reach out to Fountainhead Logistics &/or Kodiak Robotics to confirm if such alleged illegal movement was made on a public roadway.
NHTSA complaint 11726022My 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid experienced a complete electrical system failure at approximately 15,933 miles, resulting in a no-start condition. The failure involved the vehicle’s electrical distribution system. An authorized Ford dealership (Autos Vega Ford) diagnosed that voltage was not reaching the Body Control Module (BCM) due to a fault in the battery cable and wiring system. The repair required replacement of the 12V battery, high-voltage battery cables, and wiring components. The failure was confirmed by the dealership (Autos Vega Ford) and required multiple jump starts, but the vehicle would not consistently restart after being turned off. There were no prior warning indicators before the failure. The issue occurred suddenly without warning. This failure created a safety risk because the vehicle could not be started or operated. If this failure occurred in an unsafe or remote location, it could leave occupants stranded and unable to move the vehicle. Service records are available through the authorized dealership (Autos Vega Ford). This appears to be a premature electrical system failure at low mileage involving critical components such as battery cables and wiring. Similar issues involving electrical systems, battery defects, and wiring faults have been reported in Ford Maverick Hybrid vehicles. The vehicle became inoperable without warning and required towing/assistance to reach a repair facility. A sudden no-start condition in a hybrid vehicle can create hazardous situations if it occurs in traffic, at intersections, or in remote areas where assistance is not immediately available.
NHTSA complaint 11725172Technical service bulletins and other notices the manufacturer sent to dealers. A bulletin is not a recall; the 60 most recent are listed.
