NHTSA complaint 11767708My 2021 Ram ProMaster experienced transmission failure and became inoperable. It is subject to Safety Recall 44A/NHTSA 23V-301 involving the 62TE transmission. Before going to Ram, an independent repair facility removed the transmission pan and documented burnt fluid and substantial metallic debris/shavings. The van was then TOWED to an authorized Ram dealer specifically because of the transmission failure and recall. Importantly, the PCM software update had NOT been performed before the failure. Ram performed the update only AFTER the transmission had already failed and metal had been documented. FCA originally identified the software update as an INTERIM repair that did not complete the recall. The current remedy includes PCM updating AND inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the transmission/components. I informed the service manager of the documented metal and offered the independent shop's findings. He said he would not accept the finding because he had not personally inspected it, yet refused to further evaluate the transmission under the recall unless I authorized approximately $500 in customer-paid diagnosis. He repeatedly complained that Stellantis only pays approximately 1/2 hour for the recall. After updating the PCM, the dealer drove the van approximately one mile. The manager acknowledged a transmission issue and abnormal noise and suggested it “may be a pump,” but still did not inspect the documented internal debris. He stated that because the van still moves in reverse, transmission replacement is not warranted under the recall. I was instructed to retrieve the vehicle with the transmission issue unresolved. I have also opened a case with Ram/Stellantis. I request NHTSA review whether Recall 44A was properly completed when the transmission had already failed before the software update, metallic debris was documented, and the dealer declined further recall evaluation without customer-paid diagnosis.
NHTSA complaint 11766627The fuel tank is leaking where the fuel tube goes into the tank. The seal starts to leak and they do not make a replacement seal, you have to replace the entire fuel tank. This is the 2nd Promaster van that I have had and the 2nd time this has happened. This is dangerous to have fuel leaking from the front of the vehicle. This is a poor design, it’s a very common problem with these vehicles that still hasn’t been addressed. It’s also an expensive problem because the tank costs $1300 without labor, and you just can’t buy the gasket itself you have to buy the whole tank.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer declined to complete the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
NHTSA complaint 11757496fuel tank leaking gasoline. vapors and liquid gasoline leaking from fuel tank
NHTSA complaint 11756268Vehicle experienced severe, premature component failures posing direct safety hazards while operating a commercial work van: 1. Parking Brake Seizure (01/25/2025 @ 49,197 miles): The parking brake pivot assembly completely seized, causing the rear brake assembly to lock up and rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate on public roads. Replaced under Invoice #CHCS490962. 2. Catastrophic Transmission & Drivetrain Failure (05/15/2026 @ 66,082 miles): The transmission suffered recurring fluid leaks beginning at 49,197 miles (pan leak reseal) and 51,648 miles (complete front pump replacement). At 66,082 miles, the transmission suffered complete internal failure (burnt fluid, clutch metal material), resulting in total loss of reverse power and gear slipping while operating. Both front strut mounts failed on the same visit. Experiencing brake lockup and sudden total loss of transmission control under 66,000 miles on a commercial vehicle presents significant safety risks to vehicle operators and traffic.
NHTSA complaint 11753014The specific issue you are dealing with is Chrysler Recall 67C (NHTSA Campaign 25V720). This recall impacts nearly 300,000 Ram ProMaster vans (model years 2018–2026) due to an overheating radiator cooling fan circuit that poses a significant vehicle fire risk. More than 200 of these are from the VA. Edwards Auto Group In Council Bluffs, IA is trying to make the Veterans Health Administration pay labor for a safety recall that is stated above. I am reporting them because it is a safety recall and we should not have to pay for extra cost such as a 2x4. Please see below. It is my understanding that the Dealer is in the wrong here. •Absolute Free Labor: Dealerships enter franchise contracts with the manufacturer requiring them to execute recall repairs for free. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is legally obligated to provide the instructions and billable labor hours to the dealership. •The "2x4" Tool Excuse: If a manufacturer's official technical service bulletin specifies a specific physical manipulation or tool—even a makeshift one like a 2x4—to complete the repair, that labor time is factored into the flat-rate time Chrysler pays the dealer. The dealer cannot pass "difficult labor" or tool costs onto you. •No Deductibles or Add-ons: A dealer cannot apply any separate fees or surcharges to offset their operational challenges while resolving a safety defect.

NHTSA complaint 11740424I had NHTSA recall for this generator done (23E-030) which was to solve the same problem I just had. Apparently, they just moved to a smaller diameter fuel line to fit the fuel pump better. However, this hose also came off my Cummins generator fuel pump and was spewing gas all over the generator and the ground when we ran it. This is a very unsafe condition and I'm surprised, after the recall was performed by a certified Cummins dealer (verified by Cummins) that this "new" fuel line has also come off the fuel pump.
NHTSA complaint 11740172While driving, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of motive power without warning. The driver coasted off the road into a swale and required a tow to an authorized RAM dealer, December 9 2025 to CDJR of Tampa Bay, Tampa FL. The dealer initially indicated the failure was covered under Recall 44A, then changed their position and characterized it as a powertrain warranty repair. Following that repair the vehicle was returned immediately in January 2026 when it would not engage reverse. In May 2026 the vehicle experienced a CV joint failure at 20,411 miles — approximately 1,000 miles after the January repair. The RAM ProMaster 3500 is front wheel drive and CV joints connect directly to the transmission. The recurring failures following the repair present a serious safety concern. The December repair receipt is 10 pages and January is 5 the unit is currently at an authorized mopar shop. Please let us know if you require those receipts.

NHTSA complaint 1173652112/2020 First the TPS sensor failed at 1,000 miles and almost caused an accident. Would not go over 25mph, was shifting hard, and the service engine light was on. Verified and replaced at dealership. Second, the rear view camera stopped working while backing up and almost caused an accident - no back windows - major safety issue. Replaced by me as they have no replacement for it even though its under recall. No warnings. Third, the transmission was shifting hard and fell out while I was driving on the freeway at 55,000. Damaged transmission and crankshaft and joints. Verified and replaced at dealership. No warnings, no lights Fourth, the transmission bolt was found loose, hard shifts, and has an internal breakdown at 71,000 miles. Verified first by independent shop - they tightened the bolt for me and is now sitting at the dealership waiting on another transmission that has been verified and approved under warranty. No warnings, no lights
NHTSA complaint 11736324I have had ongoing issues with the backup camera not related to current recall 25v-552. The image on the dash screen would flip between upside down and right side up. It still the flipped image after being “fixed”. After the dealership “fixed” that problem, it would flip and reverse the image. That was subsequently “fixed” by replacing the dash monitor. However, the poor picture quality during both day and night makes the camera unsafe to use. During the day the image may be completely or partially whited out with glare. At night there are lines and distortion across the screen. In. Addition, the new unit does not monitor van diagnostic information which could impact safety. The van is currently back in shop for another attempt to fix camera system.
NHTSA complaint 11734434My 2021 Ram ProMaster 2500 has two open safety recalls with no remedy available: NHTSA Recall 25V-552 (rearview camera FMVSS 111 compliance issue) issued August 26, 2025 NHTSA Recall 25V-720 (cooling fan fire risk) issued October 23, 2025 As of April 2026, no remedy has been provided for either recall. The vehicle is used commercially for rental income, and the lack of a repair has caused financial loss of approximately $500–$1,000 per month. One of the recalls involves a potential vehicle fire risk. The prolonged delay without a remedy is concerning for both safety and financial reasons.
NHTSA complaint 11730629The backup camera failed and the screen is black with an error message. In a large cargo van it becomes nearly impossible to see behind you. The problem was reported to the RAM dealer in Broomfield, they inspected the camera and agreed it needed to be replaced. This issue had been going on for a full year at least.
NHTSA complaint 11728228On [XXX], while driving my 2021 Ram ProMaster 2500 at highway speed in Florida, the van suddenly lost all power and came to a near stop, then re-engaged. Vehicles were in front and behind me, creating an immediate risk of serious collision, injury, or death. I pulled over ~30 minutes, restarted, but it could not exceed 20 mph while RPMs were high. AutoZone confirmed limp mode and advised a dealer. I drove it home to Port Charlotte, then had it towed to Gettel Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, Punta Gorda, FL, where after two weeks it was diagnosed with a failed transmission requiring replacement. The transmission can be inspected at the dealership. No warning lamps appeared before failure. Problem confirmed by AutoZone and the dealer. I contacted Stellantis (Case #[XXXX], contact Regina Knox; dealership contact Noel), but repair assistance was denied. The van also has two active recalls, including risk of rolling out of park, unremedied. This transmission failure constitutes a serious and imminent safety defect, creating a hazard to myself and the public. I request NHTSA investigate this defect, compel Stellantis to repair it at their cost, and consider any further regulatory action necessary to prevent injury or death.
