NHTSA complaint 11731396This incident happened to an employee driving a mercedes metris for work. The metris was involved in a multi car accident. The driver reported that the steering wheel "took over" and would not let them maneuver out of the way to avoid a vehicle that had rear ended the vehicle in front of them. This accident took place at about 40mph and included multiple vehicles rear ending the vehicle in front of them. The metris was the third or fourth vehicle in a line of approximately 6 to 7 total vehicles. The air bags did not deploy, even though the vehicle was struck from the front and the back and the other vehicles involved had deployed air bags. The seatbelt also did not engage, causing the driver to hit their chest on the steering wheel every time another vehicle hit them
